~ A decoded message from Fuzz hidden in "Flipnote Hatena interviews Episode 1: Anthony". |
Fuzz the Cat is the main antagonist of The June Archive and Restoration Project, a Flipnote Hatena ARG. While he first appears to be the mascot of the project dedicated to saving Flipnotes from the passage of time, Fuzz seems to have his own plans for the project involving his own selfish goals.
He is voiced by the series' creator CerealBowlby.
Appearance[]
Fuzz is a simplistic gray cat with blank white eyes. He normally lacks limbs, but he can grow a pair of arms whenever he feels like it.
Fuzz is capable of contorting his body into ways that, theoretically, should not be possible, such as twisting his head ninety degrees and stretching his own body.
Personality[]
On the surface, Fuzz seems to be an enthusiastic and outgoing person, made to be the mascot for the June Archive. Fuzz is a jovial, a bit of a jokester, and is presented as a generally upbeat guy.
However, it's quickly revealed that not only is Fuzz alive and an actual staff member of the Archive, he has his own goals in mind. Fuzz is manipulative and power-hungry, and he doesn't really care about how he gets his way. Fuzz's emotions change at the drop of a hat, quickly dropping any sort of facade for after anything other than a brief update video.
While Fuzz is the mascot for an archive to save the Flipnotes from being lost to time, Fuzz himself does not seem all that interested in doing so, and considering that his Cat Clock is part of the chaos in Hatena City, it seems like Fuzz is actively taking part in its destruction. Fuzz also seems to detest the nostalgia that Flipnotes provide, seemingly reminding him of his glory days that he cannot relive.
Biography[]
Who or what Fuzz is is unknown, but Fuzz seems to be a Flipnote given life, and as such is trapped within the confines of electronics. One day, Fuzz eventually wound up being a part of the June Archive and Restoration Project, either being hired as an employee somehow or straight up starting the project himself.
During the first few weeks, the project was a major success. People were nostalgic for the past, and Flipnotes were coming in at a high rate. That being said, with each of the Flipnotes received, they all seemed to be corrupted in some way. The tampered Flipnotes tell the tale of the events of a town known as Hatena City on May 31st, 2013, the day when Flipnote Hatena shut down. Within it, characters are getting killed off, and a mysterious cat-shaped clock has been whisking residents away.
Fuzz, meanwhile, is looking for something in the Archives, presumably a strange vial of an unknown substance.
One one sleepless night, a tired worker at the Archives is undergoing an episode of insomnia, trying to get some work done. Seeing his opportunity, Fuzz tries to manipulate the worker into drawing him a vial, to which the worker complies. Thanking the archivist, Fuzz thanks them before stating that he can't be contained forever.
Later on, as the number atop the archivist ticks down, they experience a vision of a child with a DSi, oblivious to the fact that Flipnote Hatena had shut down. The archivist tries to tell the child about reality, but the child proclaims it as a sick joke, before stating that the two have the same goal. It's then revealed that on the child's DSi is Fuzz, and that his Cat Clock is right behind the archivist, slowly inching closer. However, instead of crushing the archivist, the Cat Clock starts collapsing, trapping the child in a grandfather clock before decapitating them.
The archivist, now with a bleeding right eye, starts to be tormented by Fuzz, who proclaims that if the two of them could work together, they could do everything imaginable. The archivist, instead of accepting, angrily stares at Fuzz, leading to the latter breaking down. Frustrated, Fuzz tries to pull the archivist into the Cat Clock through their bleeding eye, with the clock now revealed to be a time machine. Fuzz gives the archivist one final offer, to either accept their fate and become part of the Cat Clock or to "reach within [themself] and take" the time that is "right at [their] fingertips". The archivist ultimately complies with Fuzz, pulling out their own eye, bleeding out onto the floor.
As for Fuzz's current whereabouts or his current plans, nothing is known. All that is known is that he succeeded in obtaining a vial, and is waiting for the next step of his plan.

Trivia[]
- Fuzz was originally an OC for CerealBowlby's own personal projects back when he went by Jzork. During this time, Fuzz was white with blue eyes.
- Somewhat ironically, the last video that contains this version of Fuzz has him accepting the fact that he can't stay the same forever and welcoming new adventures on his own, while this version is a time-traveling entity in a series where the main theme is nostalgia.
- If Fuzz were to watch a Flipnote compilation, he would probably be unhappy while doing so.
- While not explicitly confirmed, it's heavily implied that Fuzz is a Memory Virus, a type of strange "bug" that worms its way into people's minds through their memories, and if enough people think about it, the virus can become a physical entity. If Fuzz is a Memory Virus, then that could mean that Fuzz's ultimate goal is to escape into the real world.
- Fuzz the Cat has made a cameo in a video titled "Flipnote Hatena interviews Episode 1: Anthony", allegedly with contributions from CerealBowlby. The video has since been unlisted.
- Fuzz the Cat has shown up in a Friday Night Funkin' mod named "The June Lament". Notably, Cerealbowlby reprised his role as Fuzz during the joke song "Too Slow (Archive Mix)".
- Allegedly, Fuzz has access to Discord.
- Fuzz likes fish, and would like that for his birthday.
- Fuzz is bilingual, and can speak English and Spanish.
- Aside from the video uploads, Fuzz seems to be in charge of the Archive's social media accounts, often responding to questions and fanart on Twitter.
