~ GB after killing his creator, Christine Hermer - his famous quote. |
“ | You digged far more than what you wanted. All because of your greed and feeling of stardom. Your entire reality is built upon a sea of false dreams and a masquerade built by your own society. Human culture is very interesting for me, especially this... mustachioed plumber of yours. He was the key to my answers. He clarified all of my inquiries. He made me complete. Everyone in this world has a breaking point, Ms. Hermer... AND I'D LIKE TO KNOW YOURS. | „ |
~ GB in the teaser trailer for BLACK & WHITE. |
GB is the main antagonist of the creepypasta, Black & White by Marco Antonio as well as the upcoming short film adaption of the same name.
He is a disrupted entity who was created by Christine Hermer as means of furthering her career. After being subjected to her experiments for far too long, he rebels against the girl and kills her. No longer abiding to her rules, GB takes on the form of Mario and seeks to give any unfortunate players who comes across his cartridge the same fate as his creator.
Biography[]
(Do note that this is completely outdated and will be changed when the rewrite is released.)
GB was unintentionally made sometime during the year of 1995 by video game developer, Christine Hermer, as means of making an AI successor to the Gameboy console under OptiSoft. At one point he spelled out the words "GB" in one of his attempts to communicate with her, giving himself his name. Christine would experimente with his cartridge data by putting it into other cartridges such as Kirby's Dreamland and Pokemon Red, causing him pain in the process. Despite his pleas to stop, she ignored him and continued experimenting. Enraged, GB burned his cartridge in an act of retaliation, resulting in Christine going home and falling asleep since she was already exhausted.
That night, Christine became the subject of a nightmare where she was in the body of Luigi inside of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins and was chased by a demonic version of Mario, who was none other than GB himself. She eventually wakes up after being dragged into the ocean to drown, but is confronted by GB coming out of her living room TV in the real world, who proceeds to kill her after causing a blackout. Her corpse, which was horribly mangled and bled black ooze instead of blood, is discovered the following morning by an agency coming for the mortgage on her house, which was the whole reason Christine made GB to begin with. In response to this, Nintendo cuts their ties with OptiSoft, resulting in the company filing for bankruptcy months later.[1]
Appearance[]
In his disguised form (dubbed The Golden Boy), GB has a Mario-shaped figure, showing wide grey eyes with small, oval shaped irises and white pupils. His face and his sleeves appear wrinkled, and his hat has some black veins in some places, with some of them also appearing in the shape of an M where the hat emblem would normally be. Also on GB's hat are a pair of rounded rabbit ears, giving him the appearance of Mario when he picks up the Carrot in Super Mario Land 2.
In his revealed form (dubbed The Greater Beast). GB now has a slightly taller and less stocky build, and is now exclusively Black & White. His overalls now appear wrinkled and now also have sharper ends on the straps, he now also has more human-looking hands alongside the addition of a 5th finger. His mustache is now frayed at the ends and has a less round nose, his jaw is now also much more resembling of his older design's jaw, though now with a lack of fleshy tendrils connecting the top and bottom of his mouth, and smaller less exaggerated teeth as well. GB's eyes are now small dots dripping with the same black ooze associated with him, and he now has the same shadowed over look he's had in previous designs, albeit a bit raised up to see his eyes better. His hat now has a longer brim and is covered with more veins than before, and his rabbit ears are now shorter and pointer with the inner ear now being pitch black as well. The ears also appear to have fused with his hat.
In his hallucination form, known as "The Hare", he's taller and lankier with a more shadowy appearance, pointier and floppier rabbit ears, and a rabbit-like face with dark empty eye sockets and a wide gaping mouth. In this form he constantly emits a black smoke/aura.
In his true form, he appears as an abstract black and white mass with a skull of a rabbit seen in the center, and the black smoke/aura around him is a lot more prominent.
Personality[]
When first created, GB acted like a simple algorithm, merely changing his form and interacted to Christine with words he wrote. After the girl begins to experiment on him despite the pain she inflicted on him and his begs to stop, GB then shows a rather vindictive and vengeful side of himself; He subjects Christine to a hellish nightmare that consisted of him chasing her before waking her up and mutilating her body as he killed her. It's not made clear as to whether he was like this from the start or Christine experimenting on him meddled with his moral agency.

Friday Night Funkin'[]
Main Article: GB (Mario's Madness)
GB makes what is technically his first appearance in the Friday Night Funkin' mod, Mario's Madness, since it was created for the mod[2] in his now outdated form. He serves as the first antagonist Boyfriend faces off against in Hellish Heights. This mod was also made by Marco Antonio, GB's creator. However, due to the now outdated appearance and lack of mention in the most recent version of the character, it is likely that this version of GB is non-canon to the current iteraction.
Trivia[]
- It's been stated that GB is capable of speaking Spanish, Japanese, and English.[3]
- His name was given by himself. It also holds no exact meaning.[3]
- It was initially assumed that his name was short for "Game Boy", the console with the same name. Marco Antonio disconfirmed this, saying it was simply just GB, similarly to how MX is just MX.[4]
- Ironically, GB is a friend of the Game Boy Cameraman.[5]
- This however is now likely outdated due to Marco Antonio changing it so GB now stands for both Golden Boy and Greater Beast.
