Fritz, later known as GEN, is an antagonist created and owned by 2763whenthe.
He is the spirit of a young man who accidentally drowned in the aftermath of a car accident, becoming trapped within a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and going insane from the trauma.
Appearance[]
GEN is a lankier, taller version of Sonic standing at 6'2" and with a darker color scheme for his fur, a much more pale color scheme for his skin and attire, and purple tips on the edges of his quills. His eyes are completely black, although he can summon grey pupils.
Personality[]
Before dying, Fritz was said to have been a confident and strong man who greatly valued his family and was fiercely protective of his siblings. After dying, however, he became cruel and devious, no longer the stern, yet bright man he once was. Filled with an everlasting rage, GEN takes his anger out on innocent people without care and is easily agitated by people who annoy him. He is temperamental, violent and extremely aggressive, especially when provoked, chasing down his victims with pure malice. He also despises having his game altered in even the smallest ways, showing him to be a bit of a control freak who wants to maintain control over his world.
GEN is also shown to be quite manipulative and charismatic, able to easily sway people to listening to his orders to commit suicide after degrading their sanity, promising them that killing themselves will send them to a better world, after which he'll claim their soul and add it to the game as a puppet to toy with.
Despite his brutish nature, GEN is truly just a scared, lost individual angry at the world for an unexpected accidental death, preferring to rest peacefully when not hunting down victims. Despite his aggression, GEN does somewhat know how to compose himself and knows not to annoy others or pick fights, and is able to strike up friendships with others.
Biography[]
Fritz was born as the eldest child in his family. Growing up, Fritz would become very protective of his siblings and grow up to become a stern, but mature and friendly man. One night, Fritz was driving home while in an extremely tired and delirious state. Unable to clearly see where he was going, Fritz made a left turn near a lake and stopped right at the edge of it. Thinking he was home, Fritz got out of his car and immediately fell into the lake, startling him and bringing him back to his senses. Although he desperately tried to swim upwards and scream for help, the water eventually filled his lungs and he drowned just when he had nearly reached the top of the lake. His body was later recovered and he was pronounced deceased.
Upon waking up many years later, Fritz would find himself trapped inside of a video game he used to play as a child, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Filled with a burning, uncontrollable rage and newfound homicidal intentions, Fritz took the name "GEN" and shapeshifted into a corrupted version of Sonic, waiting for someone to discover the cartridge so he could play with them.
GEN can be summoned by locking on the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridge with a Sonic & Knuckles cartridge, allowing him to fully manifest in the game.

- Ghost physiology: After dying, Fritz was reborn as an angry spirit that possessed a copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and gained several abilities, becoming much more powerful in death.
- Insanity inducement: GEN's main method of reaching his victims is by driving them insane until they listen to his instructions to commit suicide. Coming into contact with GEN will infect the victim with his sanity degradation abilities and cause their sanity to slowly decrease in the following days until they're vulnerable enough to be fully taken advantage by GEN.
- Shapeshifting: Although the extent of this power is unknown, GEN has the ability to shapeshift, mainly between an eyed and eyeless form of himself.
- Video game manipulation: GEN has near-complete control over the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 game, being able to shape the world in any way he likes and is virtually omnipotent within the game.
- Corruption: Likewise, GEN is able to corrupt virtually anything within the game, specifically, he enjoys corrupting various zones throughout the game, but chooses to do so during the second half of the game (aka when his Sonic the Hedgehog 3 cartridge is locked on with Sonic & Knuckles).
Weaknesses[]
- Short tempter: GEN's short fuse and tendency to become aggressive when provoked is also a way to weaken him. Although not explained fully, it's possible that making him angry makes him begin to lose control of the game.
- Shapeshifting: Whenever GEN shapeshifts, he yells in complete agony, showing how agonizing the transformation is, which is why he prefers to stay in his default form.

- Due to the circumstances surrounding his death, GEN suffers from hydrophobia; a fear of water.
- GEN is also afraid of the drowning music, as it also reminds him of the way he died.
- When GEN isn't attacking people or coercing them into suicide, he rests within the game in the zones, mainly Angel Island.
- When chasing down a victim, an extended version of the original Sonic the Hedgehog continue music will play.
- GEN chooses to communicate with people via text, namely the text that appears when completing an act.
