The Gargantuan Leviathans are the main antagonistic faction of the upcoming Subnautica mod Return of the Ancients. They are a species of titanic aliens who are extinct in the base game, but very much alive in the mod.
Overview[]
The Gargantuan Leviathans are massive creatures resembling snakes, with the adult specimens being around the 5 kilometers of length.
While it's unknown where the juveniles and the babies will be located, the adults can be found in the Dead Zone, where they feed off adult Ghost Leviathans.
The Gargantuan Leviathans are extremely violent creatures, and will not hesitate to attack and attempt to eat the player. They are dangerous not only due to their enormous size but also due to its ability to drain energy from vehicles and emit a shockwave roar that causes damage to anything in its range.
It appears that, unlike the juveniles and the adults, the babies are much friendlier, to the point they can be kept as pets.
History[]
From what's been shown so far, the adult Gargantuan Leviathans will be found in the Dead Zone, with one of them grabbing the Sunbeam after the latter has been shot by the Quarantine Enforcement Platform, and another eating the Neptune Escape Rocket when the player attempts to use it.
Trivia[]
- The mere fact that the Gargantuan Leviathans attempt to eat the player is quite weird since, seeing their size, they likely get little to no calories by eating them. This could imply that the Gargantuan Leviathans hunt the player not for food but for sport.
