Gaston is a supporting character and minor antagonist of the webseries The Villains Lair by PattyCake Productions. He is a egocentric hunter who teams with other villains to rewrite his fate.
He is portrayed by E. Michael Evans.
Biography[]
As a child, Gaston was small and skinny. After being bullied by the other children, he devoted himself to making himself stronger, becoming extremely fit and hunting down and beating up all those who had mocked him.
As an adult, Gaston became a successful huter in the village where he lived. Seeing himself as the most important and worthy person in the village, he sought the hand of the beautiful Belle. When she turned him down, he grew angry and resentful. After trying and failing to blackmail Belle into marriage by threatening to have her elderly father committed, he found out about a Beast that Belle had fallen in love with in a castle nearby. Jealous, Gaston, aided by his henchman LeFou, led the villagers to march on the castle while he tried to kill the Beast. The Beast fought him on the castle roof, but chose to spare him. In a final attempt to kill the Beast, Gaston stabbed him in the back, but in doing so lost his balance and fell to his death.
However, Gaston was resurrected by Maleficent and the Evil Queen, who gathered the villains together to begin working on a way to undo their fates. Sharing a distaste for Ursula the Sea Witch, the villains cast a spell that banished her away, but it is unlikely Gaston had a hand in this. Gaston became the muscle of the main villain team, guarding and enforcing them.
Gaston schemes with the other villains on how to get revenge. Newcomer Dr. Faciller reveals that he knows of a way they can change fate, encouraging the villains to cast a spell to reverse time. Though the spell seemingly fails, it actually frees Ursula.
Faciller tells the villains about an item known as the Sundial of Cronus, where the ancient titan of time Cronus was imprisoned, that allows its user to control time. They discover that they would need to use the dial under a blood moon for it to work, and Maleficent reveals that she can make one with her magic if provided the sundial. Faciller tells them that the dial is protected at the Princess Academy, and the Evil Queen goes in disguise to try and retrieve it.
While he waits, Gaston talks with Yzma, Mother Gothel, Cruella De Vil, and Dr. Faciller about how they have made "bad look good" with their beauty and fashion. It is then that Faciller introduces Vanessa, really Ursula in disguise. Despite presumably knowing about Vanessa' true nature, he elects to not tell the other villains about it.
However, the Evil Queen returns unsuccessful, revealing that a supposed envoy from Atlantica came and took the dial. They then realize that the spell that seemingly failed was one that Faciller used to free Ursula from her banishment, and Ursula has the dial. Gaston, along with Cruella and Gothel, attempt to sneak out, but are stopped by Maleficent and chastised by the others. Ursula reveals herself, and she and Faciller reveal that the dial can only be used by a god or the direct descendant of one, and as Ursula is the daughter of Poseidon, she is the only one that can use it. She offers a deal, but the other villains refuse and she and Faciller leave.
Gaston and the others ponder what to do. While some want to consider Ursula's offer, the Evil Queen realizes that they could resurrect fellow villain and god Hades to use the dial for them. However, his soul is trapped in the River Styx, and the only magic strong enough to bring him back is that of the Black Cauldron in the land of Morva. The villains plot to invite the Cauldron's keepers, the Witches of Morva, to them in a fake exchange for the Magic Mirror while Captain Hook, Cruella, and Prince Hans Westergaard go to Morva and steal the Cauldron. Gaston is kept under watch, the others not forgetting his betrayal. Despite this, he goes to the Lair's tavern and talks with Jafar, Judge Claude Frollo, Hans, and Anastasia and Drizella Tremaine about how the women in their lives ruined their plans.
The ship sets sail, but is attacked by Ursula. The villains escape, but Dr. Faciller uses shadow magic to make them hallucinate their enemies. Hans sees Elsa taunting him, but Maleficent is able to use Oogie Boogie's dice to ward off the shadows.
