General Dru Zod II is a major antagonist of the DC Fanfilm Universe. He appears as one of the two main antagonists (alongside Lex Luthor) of the first installment The Man From The Sky and a major antagonist in the 2022 crossover fanfilm DC & Marvel: Fiction is Justice.

He is a ruthless, powerful and fearsome military galactic general taking the order from The Galactic Council to terminate their failed project Superman due to their fear of his human genes spreading humanity across the galaxy.

Therefore, by killing Superman, his only ambition is to terminate Superman / Clark Kent at all costs and become the greatest heroic idol in the universe.

He is portrayed by Jude Law, who also played Yon Rogg in the film Captain Marvel and Vortigern in King Arthur: Legend of The Sword, and Vladimir Putin in The Messiah film series.

History[]

General Zod was at first seen invading Martha Kent's house along with his two fellow bounty hunters and henchmen, Faora and Nam-Ek as the three of them have searched for Superman / Clark Kent. Zod asks her to hand him the genetic template, however, knowing that Superman needs to be protected, Martha refused to hand Superman over to him. Zod orders his men to take Martha away, as they shall come back for Superman some other time and finish the business. Superman however told Martha that he is not afraid of the "monsters", as Zod out of anger then orders Faora to kill him.

Faora however refuses to shoot Superman with her blaster, and Zod begins to think that she is a traitor, thus he shoots her a warning shot with his blaster and reminds her that she does not want to die like the other "cowards" from the galaxy. Zod and his henchmen take Martha to a nearby field, as Clark stays in the house safely. Martha then asks Faora why she is in on this scheme if they could all live in peace. Faora reveals to her that she has different plans then Zod; she wants to protect Superman and she once told the galactic council that their project has a lot of goodness and value, but Zod did not care about this. Zod then enters the scene and he asks Martha why she is protecting the genetic failure if he could bring only chaos to the universe. Martha however replies that they both know that he is an egoistic warlord who only wants to kill Superman for his own title as a universal hero. Zod then kills Martha with his sword, and after Faora questions him, he replies to her that loyalty needs to be proven. He orders Faora to rectify her mistakes by simply destroying Superman once and for all.

Many years later, Faora reveals Superman the truth, as she always planned to protect her from Zod in secret. She takes Superman and Lois Lane (who previously betrayed Lexcorp) to a basement underneath the ground, so they could all hide from Zod. She explains to them that Zod is on a mission to terminate the creation of the galactic council who is Superman, because they fear that Superman's human genes will spread humanity across the entire galaxy. Zod afterwards went to make a bargain with Lex Luthor, who intended to have Zod capturing Superman and his allies so he could use on him the kryptonite from the meteor, and kill him as an act of revenge for him not joining Lexcorp and fighting wars for Luthor. Zod agreed, and he went with Nam-Ek to find Superman and bring him and his allies to Luthor.

Later on, General Zod enters the underground basement and finds Faora, who previously told Superman and Lois to exit the basement and reach a far away, safe place so they could hide from Zod and live a safe happy life together. Zod asks Faora if she has become closer now to the humans, and she replies that she stands right between him and the humans, as she intends to protect Superman and not to destroy him. Zod and Faora have a fight, but Zod eventually overpowers her and manages to shock her with his taser, thus taking her after this to Luthor's lair.

Leo Quintum also manages to capture Superman and Lois Lane, and take them to Luthor. Luthor then puts Superman into his laboratory, and uses the kryptonite to kill him. However, Lois Lane and Faora manage to overpower Zod, and kill both Quintum and Nam-Ek. Lois then shoots Luthor, and she kisses Superman, as he tells her to go with Faora outside of the building, so that he could stand against Zod. Zod then enters the lab room, and Superman overcomes his laser attack, thus causing Zod's laser beam to come back at him, and then Superman shoots his own laser at Zod, thus killing the tyrannical general once and for all.

DC & Marvel: Fiction is Justice[]

Zod returns from the dead and finds himself inside the real world, along with many other supervillains. He is at first confused and he intends to finish his unsettled business with Superman. However, as the villains form an alliance, Zod becomes one of their allaince's high-ranked members. He is present when Ava Cross is brought to The Toad, who happens to be the leader of the faction.

The alliance's victory was short lived, as Jason Cunningham came to rescue Ava from the villains who intend to harm her. However, Zod shoots Jason with laser, and the villains gain the upper hand. However, Doctor Strange enters the scene and gives them the location of his magic book so they will let Jason and Ava go and live their lives. The Toad however kills Strange and orders Zod to command a villainous attack on London.

Zod committed terrible crimes and he eventually fought with some Marvel and DC superheroes combined. However, he grew tired of fighting them and he then confessed that as the galactic general, his chancellor Wolfgang Von Strucker who happens to lead The Order of Fenris has mistreated him in a very harsh way and that despite being used as a pawn for his plans, he himself doesn't want to harm anyone, not even Superman or the humankind. Superman offers him and the other villains around the area a chance of redemption. He accepts the redemption and continues his life independently.

Personality[]

Zod is an extremist, and despite his task to terminate Superman because of his humanity, Zod only does this for his own egoistic reasons, and not because he simply follows orders. He is obsessed with Superman, and he will do anything to kill him and his allies.

Faora knew that Superman has some good in him, and Zod did not even listen to her as he was bloodthirsty and sadistic. However, despite his flaws, Zod did care for the galaxy and he did believe that Superman was a monster at least during the beginning of the story.
