“ | Wow, wow. Everyone respected The Shy Guy? Truly, I’m glad to see you in good health. After all, this is our first meeting in the last two weeks, isn’t it? And I already thought that it was you who fell. Even my heart began to flutter...(clears throat) my chest felt tight with concern for you (laughs). | „ |
~ Genos to The Shy Guy about his “experiences” about him. |
“ | Filthy Rich: Hi Hi. How many years, how many winters, Genos. Do you have a new human puppet vessel? He is beautiful. I heard that you built another furniture factory of your own? Then, thank you for the sofa that you gave me in honor of the opening of the new plant. True, its upholstery was torn during transportation, so I replaced it by upholstering the sofa with human skin. Looks very attractive. Genos: It does not need to be covered with human skin. However, it is possible to do so (laughs). |

~ Filthy Rich to Genos about a gift from the latter. |
Leland Genos (also known as Genos) is the secondary antagonist of the fourth Equestria Girls film Legend of Everfree, as well as the main antagonist of the Equestria Girls film Invasion From The Dark. He is the third Minister of Forestfear, and also runs a number of his own furniture factories and antique stores throughout Canterlot City and other cities.
He assisted Forestfear in building a portal to the World of Fantastic Creatures, and later planned to turn the population of Canterlot City into consumable material for his product.
Biography[]
Past[]
Genos was born into the family of a low-income furniture maker who sold his goods to the high society of Canterlot City. At the age of 16, he inherited a furniture store from his father. Leland was extremely pleased with his work and the money he received. But over time, Genos began to see that his product began to be rated much worse by customers every time. It became clear to Leland that his product lacked novelty and something that could attract a buyer.
Suddenly, Genos came up with the idea that if his product had a “unique building material” in its assembly, then his product would look much more beautiful and more profitable. As a result, Leland began to kill people, and from the bodies to make various furniture, as well as various souvenirs, covering his goods with an aromatic agent to hide the smell of the flesh and to prevent the goods from deteriorating. At the age of 25, he met Forestfear, who stopped by Genos' shop. He accepted Forestfear's offer to become a member of his squad, after which he received magic from his master.
Many years later, Genos became the Third Minister of Forestfear, and also became good friends with the First Minister of Forestfear and First Lord of Business, Filsey Rich. Leland began to increasingly develop his business, building furniture factories and opening antique stores throughout Canterlot City and beyond. Thanks to the magic he had, he began to develop more and more new types of furniture from human bodies, as well as his creativity in creating various outlandish inventions for sale, using magical pollen to hide the smell of flesh and to prevent the goods from spoiling.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Legend of Everfree[]

Leland eats Watermelody.
Arriving at Camp Everfree, Genos decides to devour the innocent Watermelody while he hid in one of his vessel dolls to spit her back out, declaring her inedible. After this incident, Genos and Herobrine decide to go their separate ways to give the Guardians of Friendship a double warning: Genos gives a final warning to the Guardians of Friendship not to interfere with Forestfear's plans, and Herobrine will kill the Guardians of Friendship if the latter refuse.
Meanwhile, Guardians of Friendship and the guests of Camp Everfree, along with Timber and Gloriosa, go to rest in the evening, after arriving Genos ambushes them with a puppet doll. Genos introduces himself and conveys a final warning to the Guardians of Friendship not to interfere with Forestfear's plans.
Reaper of Worlds tries to attack Genos, but he dodges him and reveals his ability to transport himself into his vessel dolls, he then comments that these dolls are people turned into vessel dolls by his magic, and he hates it when they get damaged, Genos then summons several dolls from the box using his Magic: Horrible Dolls of War to attack Reaper of Worlds, Genos wonders what kind of commodity he should make from Reaper of Worlds, but the Guardian tells him that it is useless, after which he hits Leland with a powerful kick attack , after which Genos escapes.

Genos arrives at the meeting.
After Forestfear's takeover of Camp Everfree, Genos is invited to a meeting Ministers of Forestfear, where he greets The Shy Guy, asking him how he is feeling after two weeks since the last meeting and lying about being worried about his colleague's well-being.

Genos communicates with The Shy Guy.
The businessman also greets Filthy Rich, exchanging small talk about his couch, which he provided to the other Lords of Business and the Ministers of Forestfear as a gift. Soon after, Genos listens as Forestfear informs the Ministers that Principal Cinch has died and berates them for being useless.
Later, Genos informs his leader that he has a proposal that will help him realize his goals. The businessman is then ordered to go help the other members of his squad complete the construction of a portal to the World of Fantastic Creatures.
Genos witnesses how Glimps cuts off the hand of The Shy Guy and then goes to complete the construction of the portal to the World of Fantastic Creatures.
During the final Battle of Camp Everfree, Leland escapes from the battlefield.
My Little Pony Equestria Girls: Invasion From The Dark[]
Leland first appears in one of the cafes in Canterlot City, thinking about how he can repay the Guardians of Friendship. At night, he infiltrates Canterlot High School, using the body of a little girl as cover, and without any problems possesses Reaper of Worlds guarding Canterlot High School. That same night, Genos, in the body of Reaper of Worlds, kidnaps Tennis Match and Sophisticata.
After the other Guardians of Friendship notice that Reaper of Worlds is acting unnaturally due to his overly psychotic behavior, they decide to keep an eye on him the following night. And at the same time find out what happened to Tennis Match and Sophisticata.

Genos' evil grin.
The next night, the Guardians of Friendship go to Canterlot High School in search of clues about the disappearance of two Canterlot High School students, after arriving Genos ambushes them in the form of a possessed Reaper of Worlds. Leland reintroduces himself and shows the Guardians of Friendship his new upcoming product. He then introduces "The Siren's Singing", a morbid gramophone-shaped piece made from the mutilated bodies of Tennis Match and Sophisticata stuck together, with their internal organs embedded inside the device, combined with the mechanisms inside, with meat horns protruding from their mouths, which is the worst the part that all the two innocent girls screamed every time Genos turned the lever on the side of the "product", implying that they were still alive, and finally Genos declares that he will sell and create such "beautiful things" on a large scale , planning to turn Canterlot City and all its inhabitants into consumables for their "products".
“ | Genos: This beautiful night I would like to present to you my future successful product. Sunset Shimmer: Product? What do you mean? |

will be added soon...
Powers and Abilities[]
What sets Genos apart from other Lords of Business is that he rarely engages an enemy in close combat, using his Shadow Magic, Energy Magic, and Puppeteer Magic to attack enemies at mid-to-long range. However, thanks to his ability to inhabit any living organism, turn people into dolls and puppets, as well as the ability to manipulate the flesh of enemies, Genos is deadly for any unprepared enemy, since Genos has a sufficient level of skills to resist even the Supreme Guardian, close to The Gate Guardian, attacking him at long range without fear of harm to himself.
- A talented architect and furniture maker: Since childhood, Genos had the skills to create a variety of beautiful things from any available materials. Having become the Lord of Business and the Minister of Forestfear, Genos learned to make any furniture and various antiques from human bodies. For example, he made a thunderphone from people so that it would produce a kind of music from human screams of pain when the thunderphone was activated. He also made a kind of doll out of the child’s body with a doll mechanism made of human bones built inside.
- Magic Pollen: Thanks to a special magical pollen, Genos is able to sprinkle it on his furniture and antiques to hide unnecessary odors from buyers. The duration of the pollen is unlimited, and its effect does not disappear even after the death of Genos, which allows him to hide the truth about his goods without fear for his reputation.
- Turning People into Puppets and Dolls: Genos has the ability to turn any person into a wooden puppet. Through combination with Shadow Magic, Genos is able to place himself inside his dolls, using them as vessels to store his body and teleport to any location. He can also move his puppet from the inside, although with difficulty due to his puppets' body structure. If the doll is destroyed while Genos is sitting in it, he will simply create a random doll nearby and move into it. This entire process takes less than two seconds.
- Shadow Magic: Genos can use this magic in combination with the ability to transform people into dolls to place himself inside his dolls, using them as vessels to store his body and teleport to any location. He can also move his puppet from the inside, although with difficulty due to his puppets' body structure. Shadow Magic itself acts as a pocket dimension generator inside the puppets in order to fit inside them and control them.
- Possession: Genos is able to possess anyone through direct physical contact. This ability is impossible for almost anyone to defend against, resulting in even the Reaper of Worlds eventually becoming Genos' temporary host. This ability will only be active if Genos has activated Magic The Thing in advance. At the same time, the victim possessed by Genos cannot be returned to normal until Genos himself wishes it.
- Shapeshifting: Genos is able to change the appearance of the creature he inhabits. However, this only applies to the face, skin color, height and body odor, while the remaining elements are not able to be affected by the change.
- Energykinesis: Genos is capable of draining some of his life energy upon contact with an enemy to strengthen or heal himself. He can also throw energy blades, cutting the target and the surrounding area at a great distance.
- Horrible Dolls of War: Genos summons dolls from a box he created, which shoot bullets from miniature machine guns at the enemy; The bullets contain poisonous properties and are lubricated with mercury, which weakens the target.
- Assassination Arc: Genos swings his hand towards the enemy and shoots a crescent blade of concentrated energy at them.
- Pandora's Choking: Genos summons streams of shadow smoke from the box he creates, causing a suffocation effect on all targets within the range of Genos' ability.
- Thread of Divine Control: Genos summons strings of energy over an enemy that bind to the target's legs, arms, and head, taking control of them. The threads can only be destroyed using edged weapons consisting of the Unified Energy.
- King of the Shadow Nightmare: Genos unleashes a stream of shadow mist on his enemies, causing all targets within the fog's radius to be paralyzed in place. The paralysis effect lasts until the fog clears. It usually stays active for about twenty minutes, after which it begins to dissipate.
- Puppeteer's Blade: Genos transforms his hand into a blade that, when he wounds or kills an enemy, turns him into a puppet doll. The effect can be selective. So, if Genos wounded an enemy specifically in the hand, then only the hand, and not the whole body, will turn into the doll’s wooden hand.

Personality[]
Genos has been shown to be an excitable businessman, constantly ingratiating himself with new sources of inspiration for what he considers his "creative and sales inspiration" or what he considers sublime, sometimes even going against his initial impressions. He easily became euphoric whenever Forestfear was mentioned, trying not only to please him, but also to find joy in Forestfear chopping his head in half and holding his head. Although he was dismayed that he would have to work alongside Herobrine, he nevertheless reasoned that it was okay since Forestfear ordered it. He also seemed somewhat sardonic and condescending; upon sensing The Shy Guy's presence at a meeting of the Ministers of Forestfear , he almost poured out his inner feelings to the demon, glad that he believed him to be dead, before correcting himself mid-sentence, even if The Shy Guy had not been fooled by his false support.
Genos had a particularly morbid sense of taste, which manifested itself when Filthy Rich told him that he had upholstered the couch Genos gave him as a gift in human skin after the original upholstery of the couch had deteriorated in transit; Although Genos was a little taken aback since the sofa was not made with such an intention, he nevertheless approved of this use and decided to use it as further inspiration.

Genos' "merchandise", consisting of mutilated, still living victims.
The extent of this morbid and violent obsession was further shown when he brutally attacked several Canterlot High School students and used their corpses to create a "beautiful" antique by mutilating their bodies together and sticking thunderphone mechanisms into them. His extreme sadism was further exposed when he went into detail explaining his "future successful product"; From the many distorted body parts that stood out, to the built-in "feature" of being able to crank the handle to cause extreme pain and bleeding to one of the mangled students, causing him to scream in pain and create a semblance of music, demonstrating that he not only left his victims unnaturally alive , but also carried out public torture.

Genos exclusively hates the Guardians of Friendship.
Genos has shown himself to be incredibly petty and vindictive, as seen when he attacked and maimed the Guardians of Friendship due to his hatred and jealousy of their work as Guardians and how they took all the attention on themselves and not on Genos as he believed and cause your enemies to suffer physical and mental pain, and waste time with the Guardians of Friendship because of this petty jealousy.

“ | Genos: King Forestfear, I am not like them. I have an offer that can bring you one step closer to achieving your goals. Literally just... Forestfear: More than anything in the world, I hate uncertainty. Uncertainty in spoken words, uncertainty in actions, uncertainty in your thoughts. Any uncertainty is primarily a defeat. Contrition, nothing more. That’s why I love confidence and clarity in my decisions. The ideal action that will guarantee you success in your goals. |

Trivia[]
- His character has references to Gyokko from the anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. But unlike Gyokko, Genos reacts much more reservedly when someone insults his "art", and he was not particularly loyal to his master, only following orders if they help achieve his personal goal.
- The Cheshire smile on Genos' mask changes its emotion depending on Genos' mood. If Genos is happy about something, the smile on his mask remains unchanged. If Genos is angry or scared, then the smile on his mask takes on the negative effect of the emotion.
- Genos is the only Lord of Business who lived to see the events of the fourth season of the Equestria Girls Reperverse.
- Genos and Filthy Rich are the only Lords of Business who wield Magic The Thing.
- Despite the fact that Genos is an unofficial member of the Lords of Business, he has never liked to cross paths with his human colleagues (except Filthy Rich), preferring to communicate with the Ministers of Forestfear. This indirectly confirms Leland's dislike for members of his own species, getting along well with Filthy Rich only because he is as sadistic as himself.
