Gladstone Gander is a cartoon duck character originally created by Disney comic artist Carl Barks. This version of the character, created by Tim O'Hayre (Al Timothus), is a recurring antagonist who is a con artist in the Disney world(s)/universe(s). Like his original counterpart, as well as other similar versions of the character, he has a rivalry with his famous cousin, Donald Duck. Sometimes, he is seen masquerading as a supervillain under the alter-ego Clover Leaf.
Personality[]
Gladstone almost always assumes a charming demeanor in public to present himself as a positive person with a good attitude. This way, he can construct the facade of a decent connection between himself and his victims, making the conning process all the more smoothly. At some point or another, he often feels self-aware of what he is doing and knows that it is bad for the most part. However, any sympathy for the people he scams goes away when he develops a questionable mindset that maybe not all victims are as innocent as they appear.
On rare occasions, Gladstone's fear of being exposed will get the better of him, and he will lash out on others in a somewhat similar manner to the outbursts of his cousin, Donald Duck. On the other hand, these "tantrums," are slightly less extreme than Donald's and therefore not always taken too seriously by others. Additionally, Donald and Gladstone have their fair share of pestering each other and being envious of one another due to their polar opposite personalities and lifestyles, with Donald being reasonably jealous of his cousin's success that he yearns for but cannot obtain despite his hard work.
