Do you really think this is the end? You fool. I am not the only Glitchtrap to exist. There is a copy of me that exists in every single version of this game to have ever been created! You may have stopped me, yes. You may even destroy me. But tell me...how do you plan on destroying the thousands of me scattered throughout the different game worlds, when those fools in Fazbear Entertainment will do nothing but watch and wallow in their own greed?

~ Glitchtrap in Mike Schmidt's game copy revealing that every single copy of Fazbear Entertainment's VR game contains its own Glitchtrap
Glitchtraps are major antagonists in Five Nights at Freddy's fanfiction Mike's New Ghostly Family, by Archcommander-Tenebros.
Glitchtraps are lingering fragments of William Afton's soul that were created when Fazbear Entertainment scanned Springtrap's circuit boards to obtain the data needed for their VR game called "Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience", the Remnant on animatronic that possessed Afton's soul projecting its traces into the game, creating a malevolent supernatural computer virus-like entity that started plaguing the game. Though originally there was only one Glitchtrap, but once Fazbear Entertainment mass-produced their game, every single copy of their game ended up containing its own Glitchtrap, ready to possess any player they would come across to make their escape. Though majority of Glitchtraps were destroyed by the Nightmares, one remained, successfully escaping by merging with one beta tester's soul.
Appearance[]
In their default forms, Glitchtraps appear as humanoid beings that heavily resembles a Spring Bonnie animatronic costume with a smile perpetually stretched on their faces. Initially, they appears glitchy and translucent, bearing purple glowing eyes, green outline and glowing with unnatural colors, but as more tapes get collected, Glitchtraps becomes more and more solid. When fully formed, their colors become normal dirty yellow and purple.
When one Glitchtrap's physical shell gets destroyed by the Anathema Curse-empowered Mike Schmidt, his true form is revealed to be a formless mass of shadows with purple eyes scattered all over its body, with his face formed by two larger purple eyes and a gaping purple monstrous maw with jaws. On the top of his head are two bunny ears, the only appearance aspect left from his Spring Bonnie-esque form.
Once that Glitchtrap was sufficiently damaged and depowered, he consolidated his essence into taking a form of the pale plush toy of Spring Bonnie, with green digital lines going through its body.
History[]
Glitchtrap was unintentionally created by Fazbear Entertainment when they scanned Springtrap's circuits to obtain the data for their VR game. Because the Remnant on Springtrap's remains contained the traces of William Afton's soul, the data that was gained by the company from the circuits gave a new life to fragments of Afton's lingering soul, creating a malicious virus that shared personality and all memories prior to death in Henry's trap pizzeria with the killer that manifested itself as an unnatural game character. Once he explored all surroundings and realized that he was reborn inside the video game based on Fazbear franchise's past tragedies, he decided to wait until he encounters the player so that he could possess them and use their body to start his plans anew, setting preparations that would allow him to either swap places with the player or merge with their soul.
His first victim was Jeremy, one of the game's beta testers, though when he merged with his soul, Jeremy was able to ward off his influence and eventually commit suicide by slicing off his face with the guillotine paper slicer, forcing Glitchtrap to retreat back into the game. Another beta tester noticed that something wrong happened to Jeremy and was alerted to Glitchtrap's presence, recording her own findings on the tapes and hiding them in the specific game corner. Noticing the tapes, Glitchtrap possessed the tapes, granting himself more thorough protection from developers' attempts to delete him from the game. However, the beta tester noticed his attempt and separated the tapes, spreading them all over the game and preventing him from manifesting fully, except for the Pizza Party level, though he knew that someone would try to collect all tapes and decided to wait until he meets someone who'd attempt to do so.
At the latest stages of the development, the game was mass-produced, duplicating Glitchtrap, with his presence residing in every single copy of the game. One such copy has gotten into the hands of Mike Schmidt and his ghostly children after the former nightguard blackmailed Fazbear Entertainment into letting him beta test the game. As the ghostly children played through the game, collecting tapes, Glitchtrap's essence began to consolidate, with him beginning to make appearances in the game, observing the children. Though he found them to be somewhat familiar, due to them being the ghosts of children he murdered, he wasn't able to figure out who they truly are, except for Charlie, from whom he hid thoroughly. He was also very curious about Liz, given that she was the ghost of Afton's own daughter Elizabeth, but the American accent she developed from years of being a part of Schmidt's new family, as well as the profane mouth she developed from her new adoptive father Mike and her new siblings, resulted in him dropping the notion that she may somehow be his daughter.
Eventually, the ghost kids were able to beat every level, leaving only Pizza Party level unfinished. When Jeremy played through the level and nearly reached its end, he noticed that Glitchtrap was beckoning for him to go behind the curtain. However, Jeremy noticed that the way Glitchtrap beckoned for him was nearly exactly the same way William Afton beckoned for him back when he was still alive, at the day of his death. Realizing that Glitchtrap is a form of William Afton's spirit, reincarnated, he collected the tape and quitted the level, shutting off the game and explaining to the rest of his family about Glitchtrap's presumed true nature. As the group shuddered at the implications and discussed further plan of action, Mike Schmidt decided to play through the game himself and try to piece Glitchtrap back together to let him possess him and then counter him like how he repelled Nightmare Springtrap's assault and turned tables against him.
Once Mike collected Tape 16, Glitchtrap appeared and prepared to merge with his soul, only for Mike to repel his assault. Due to the fact that Glitchtrap was a fragment of William Afton's soul, his presence triggered the Anathema Curse, a blessing Nightmare provided to Mike, allowing the man to not only defend himself against Glitchtrap, but also providing him with an opportunity to outright attack the malicious being, sending Glitchtrap into a full-blown panic. As Mike started slowly destroying Glitchtrap and realized that the entity is nothing more but a mere fragment of Afton's soul, he intensified the attacks, with Glitchtrap reduced to begging for mercy as Mike burned off more and more pieces of him. However, the realization that he's merely one fragment of Afton's soul brought Glitchtrap to another realization that he's not the only one of his own kind, and gloated to Mike that thousands of Glitchtraps exist in every single copy of Fazbear Entertainment's VR game ever made. Despite the fact that his words left Mike to realize that his victory would be hollow, he still prepared to finish Glitchtrap off just to make Afton's soul fragment suffer, stopped only by Charlie trying to bring Mike back to light, horrified by her adoptive father's cruelty. That gave Glitchtrap an opportunity to consolidate his essence into a form that would make him harder to kill and preserve his existence, said form being a Spring Bonnie plushie.
The Schmidts contacted Nightmare and explained to him about Glitchtrap and the fact that there are thousands of him in every single copy of the game, and the demon lord was determined to stop him as soon as possible. As it turned out, the existence of multiple Glitchtraps threatened the entire world, thus requiring the world of supernatural to make their direct interference to eliminate them all. Once the Schmidts provided Nightmare with their copy of VR game, with wounded yet living Glitchtrap inside, the demon lord was taught by Old Man Consequences on how to perform the ritual that would destroy all Glitchtraps inside the game copies, and then he and the Nightmares healed Glitchtrap inside Mike's copy, restoring him to his original state, before performing the ritual that would destroy every single Glitchtrap. The ritual was successful, and every single Glitchtrap inside the game's copies was destroyed, the ritual exploding the warehouses that storaged the games. However, as it turned out, there was one Glitchtrap who managed to escape the confines of his game and possess a person before the ritual was conducted, allowing him to slip away unharmed.
Afterwards, the Glitchtrap that was residing inside Mike's copy of the game, having remained intact from the ritual, was harvested by Nightmare and contained inside the barrel. The demon lord then entrusted Nightmare Bonnie with performing research on Glitchtrap, requiring him to learn everything about his nature and behavior, and allowed him to perform all kinds of experiments on Afton's digital soul fragment, while he and Mike would obtain the copy of the game that belonged to beta tester who became a victim of Glitchtrap's possession and gain complete autonomy over the video game development, allowing them to ensure that Glitchtrap would be gone from the game permanently.
As Nightmare, Mike and Jeremy explored the copy of Glitchtrap's victim, the demon lord discovered that the collection of all tapes wasn't the only thing that would let him become whole, as the final room of Pizza Party was another place where he could consolidate his essence, which would've allowed him to swap bodies with the player, leaving them permanently trapped on the game's Show Stage. Afterwards, Nightmare Bonnie contacted his lord, reporting that he completed all experiments on Glitchtrap and was able to learn everything possible about his nature and abilities. Nightmare Bonnie explained that when Glitchtrap was created, it fused itself with the game's programming, becoming something between the spirit and virus, and that, as a virus, he can infect the soul, with only the strong-willed being able to repel Glitchtrap's infestation, ensuring that he'd crumble into nothing without an anchor, and supernatural entities like angels or demons outright being immune. However, if the victim's will isn't strong enough, Glitchtrap will start merging with their soul until all resistance the victim shows will break down, and the victim itself starts obeying Glitchtrap's every whim. Despite this, Glitchtrap's infection can be reversed by directly applying the holy light and hellfire to the soul or tearing Glitchtrap's essence out with demon's hellfire-imbued claws, which would destroy Glitchtrap's essence and uncorrupt the victim's soul, though the process is described to be extremely painful to the victim. Nightmare congratulated Nightmare Bonnie for the successful work and ordered him to write down a report that he'll present to Old Man Consequences, with demonic scientist revealing that he destroyed his instance of Glitchtrap once it outlived its usefulness, activating Sterilization Protocol Omega (setting the entire lab on hellfire) to ensure that all traces of Glitchtrap will be eradicated.
Much later, Nightmare had finished updating the game, having implemented all necessary precautions to ensure that Glitchtrap won't return, and creating a harmless simulacrum of Glitchtrap in the game that reenacted his supposed plans in a fictitious way to alert the humanity about his existence in the best possible way without violating the laws of supernatural. He also revealed during the explanation of the game's third ending (where the player would safeguard themselves from Glitchtrap inside the isolated corner of the game, preventing him from possessing the player) that the ending's isolated corner existed even before he worked on the game, and hypothesized the possibility that, if the player followed the Tape Girl's instructions described on Tape 16, then they would've been the one trapped in the darkness, as opposed to Glitchtrap.
Afterwards, Nightmare explained that he hid the secret that would give them a hint on who Glitchtrap's victim is inside the new "Curse of Dreadbear" pack, the secret being thoroughly hidden to ensure that Fazbear Entertainment won't remove it before the information spreads to public. With these words, the demon lord departed, with the rest of the Nightmares playing hosts to the Schmidt family in the new expansion pack, where they discovered the secret that allowed them to learn that the victim is female, hear her voice, and see the mask that she made to please Glitchtrap. Though it wasn't enough to allow them to deduce who Glitchtrap's victim is, the Schmidts now had the way to identify the victim if they ever find her.
