Fredbear, best known as Golden Freddy or just Golden for short, is the overarching antagonist of ShadowLL's Five Night's at Freddy's [sic] fanfic trilogy, serving as the central antagonist of Five Night's At Freddy's, a posthumous antagonist in The Horror Attraction and the overarching antagonist of The Calling.

He is the vengeful soul of a restless child called Joseph Fields that plans to have complete control over the animatronics. He is also the brother of Isaiah Fields, the soul inside Freddy Fazbear. Following his death at the hands of Foxy the Pirate, Bonnie the Bunny would create a false illusion of him to further manipulate Foxy, one that would redeem himself and team up with the heroes against the villains.

History[]

Background[]

Fredbear was originally the mascot of the first restaurant, Fredbear's Family Diner, that closed when Mike Schmidt killed a child outside it. Fredbear was moved to a new location, Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, under the name Golden Freddy. Mike would use him to lure five children into a backroom and kill them all. One of the children, Joseph Fields, would end up possessing him, with his brother Isaiah possessing Freddy. Planning to get revenge, Golden would brainwash all the animatronics into following his orders and didn't things they didn't want to. During this, he tried to convince Foxy to join him, but was unsuccessful. The first time he made contact with the fox is when Freddy killed a guard for the first time, following his brainwashing. Golden would think he has everyone except Foxy following his orders, but in reality, Bonnie was never under his control and just pretended. At least three guards died during this.

The Calling[]

Mike's nephew Derrick is hired for the night shift, and Golden brainwashes the animatronics - surprisingly enough, including Foxy - to do so. He briefly tries kills him and his love interest Sarah Malcolm himself, but fails.

Five Night's At Freddy's[]

Freddy's would eventually be shut down and after just four months, the animatronics would be moved to a second location, where they would be replaced by the Toy animatronics. Unbestknown to everyone, Golden would team up with the Puppet and convince Bonbon to join them so they could kill all the animatronics at the new pizzeria. While the Puppet would be outwardly evil to everyone, Golden would pretend to be an ally to trick Foxy. He would defend himself by claiming he's not the entity that has been possessing them recently, and that he wants to help. Later on, he would once again speak to Foxy to clarify he's on his side, and comfort him by calling him his favorite.

The Puppet eventually manages to "gain control" of Golden, although he uses half his soul to resist its control (it's more than likely they were pretending). He then goes to speak with Foxy, telling him to not resist the Puppet's control next night. However, it turns out the Puppet managed to take control of all animatronics except Foxy and Mangle, forcing him to take things into his own hands and fight its minions. Once everyone is saved, Golden explains that the Puppet takes a part of an animatronic's soul each time it possesses them, and gives away the evil side of his soul to Foxy so he would have more strength. However, Foxy manages to uses his own soul to get rid of Golden's bad side, figuring out he's evil. He then confronts the bear and ultimately kills him. However, Bonnie would create a second Golden to further manipulate Foxy, one that was so realistic even the Puppet was fooled.

The Horror Attraction[]

Golden is still dead thirty years later, although Bonnie's illusion returns, having redeemed himself following the Puppet betraying him. It's also here that it's revealed Bonnie was the mastermind behind pretty much everything. In 1987, Foxy really did beat Golden to death, and the second one that appeared alongside the Puppet was a mere illusion created by the rabbit that managed to trick everyone. At the end of the fic, Bonnie manages to kill the second Golden, who gives his soul to Foxy.

Trivia[]

It's implied Golden was pretending to be the Phone Guy in the first entry. However, this wasn't confirmed.
