The Golden Orb Weaver, also known as the legendary creature The Yellow Devil, is the main antagonist of the 2025 fanfilm Jurassic Phobia: Web of Terror, a sequel for the Jurassic Park franchise.

He is a highly intelligent and cruel enormous spider from the Jurassic era, who seeks to conquer the world through other spiders on Isla Scorpia, an island which the spider invasion was successful and therefore, the spiders killed all dinosaurs in that location. It leads it's own spider minions as if they are a cult under his own leadership. It also serves as one of the four dominant leaders of different spiders on the island, alongside The Black Widow, The Tarantula and The Brazilian Wandering Spider. The Orb Weaver is Seth Mason, Lara Hellsmith and the raptor Loki's arch-nemesis.

History[]

Many years ago, the Golden Orb Weaver was designed by Byosin under the authority of Harry Houser. The spider became vengeful and also power hungry due to it's nature. The Golden Orb Weaver invaded Isla Scorpia and together with the rest of the spiders, it brutally slaughtered all the dinosaurs on the island, leading a raptor named Loki to be the last living dinosaur on the island, although Seth Mason and his allies didn't know the raptor is alive. The Golden Orb Weaver became the foremost spider on the island and the de-facto leader of the newborn Jurassic spiders. He was one of the four prominent spiders on the island, along with The Black Widow, The Lone Tarantula and The Brazilian Wandering Spider, who acted like a cunning army commander for his own army. Much like the other spiders, The Orb Weaver was very ruthless and had fatal toxins in his venomous bite. However, to make him much worse than the other spiders around the island, The Golden Orb Weaver made his army act like a cult of delusional fighters, planning to use them to conquer the human world as well instead of living in parallel peacefully. The Golden Orb Weaver sacrificed many of his own spiders in his cult, in order to mark his strength and rule them with terror as nothing less than a god for them.

The Orb Weaver was first seen stalking an archeologist who entered it's territory, just before brutally killing him for sport. He then told his army of spiders to go out of the tomb, except for one last spider minion that he would sacrifice for fun.

His first unit of spiders attacked Seth and his friends a little later, but the same spiders were killed by gas. The Orb Weaver out of rage went to find them, biting and killing Dylan Mishinago in the process, who worked for Byosin under Chadwick Millis' command. He did so when Dylan was alone, and he did this action very brutally with no sense of remorse. Failing to find others, he went to search in the forest, where a haunted house with The Black Widow and a path which the Tarantula protects all the time are both located. After the Tarantula's demise, the villainous human agent James Randall exposes his scheme while he did not realize the Golden Orb Weaver by himself was after him. The Orb Weaver spider eventually reached the human team which came to hunt him, first killing the soldiers by attacking them and then giving James a brutally painful and lethal bite. After James died, the megalomaniacal spider tried to destroy both Seth and Lara Hellmsmith (his girlfriend), but luckily he failed and the two heroes escaped him for now. After the defeat of The Black Widow spider, the gigantic Orb Weaver prepared a type of rock which explodes and turns to lava eventually, hoping to cause a disaster from the volcano in which his own tomb is located safely. He killed most of his soldiers with the rock, due to not wanting to share his own power with them. The other orb weavers die in their fiery trap, causing their treacherous leader to seek revenge on the heroes, mostly Seth, before he goes alone to another location with intent of world domination.

The Orb Weaver eventually encounters the raptor youngling Loki, and when the ruthless spider realized he didn't manage to murder all of the dinosaurs on Isla Scorpia, the spider then grabbed Loki and tried to use his legs to torture him before he would bite and inject fatal venom. However, much to the spider's annoyance, Seth came and threw one of the exploding volcanic rocks on The Golden Orb Weaver, convincing him to have a fair fight by telling him that he threw the rock towards him. The Golden Orb Weaver tries to launch himself onto Seth and bite him within a minute., causing his certain death. However, Lara saves him by sticking a sword into the spider. Once the battle finishes, the Golden Orb Weaver gets heavily injured and therefore, he falls into his own volcanic tomb. Still alive, the Golden Orb Weaver finds himself inside his hallway, surrounded by a few soldiers he didn't kill yet. The soldiers then turned on him and ate him out of hunger for freedom and due to hating their leader.

Personality[]

The Golden Orb Weaver is a strict and merciless spider who enjoys harming others around him. He is even cruel to his own minions, to a point he sacrificed nearly all of them just for his own satisfaction and egoistic, twisted view on committing genocide after genocide on the humans so he can rule the world where spiders are most likely the dominant species, and even then he's their supreme leader alone. The Orb Weaver seems to enjoy scaring, attacking and biting others, often taking a joyful look of how his victim suffers from the weaver's venom. The Golden Orb Weaver is the most ruthless spider of them all, and has no honor, limits or loyalty as the other spiders and even their leaders certainly have.

Trivia[]

  • This specific Golden Orb Weaver is based on the animal Jurassica Nephila, the bigger spider during the Jurassic era in real life.
  • Unlike this villain in the movie, real Golden Orb Weavers aren't usually harmful.
  • The Golden Orb Weaver is the most challenging and evil animal threat to have ever crossed paths with Jurassic Park franchise heroes for these reasons;
    • It is a highly intelligent animal, able to calculate plans for world domination and a new world order, unlike others such as The Indominus Rex, The Big One or the Indorobot, who are simply assets for bigger schemes with no high interest of having any sort of power.
