Goofy Goobers is a restaurant chain appearing in the Nickelodeon comedy television series SpongeBob SquarePants. While the show treats them as comedic and innocent, YouTuber Alex Bale theorizes that ice cream parlor may actually be a disguised alien death cult.

History[]

The Goofy Goobers were founded in 19th century by a strange fish named Reginald Goober. Reginald was a firm believer in the ideas of an alien death cult, a cult that believes its inhabitants will be taken to a better world by aliens after committing a mass suicide. In order to amass followers, Reginald traveled the world to sell a special ice cream that made its consumers more susceptible to his ideas, primarily targeting children and other vulnerable fish. Reginald also had his followers trade their money for a Goofy Goober exclusive currency, which allowed the dimwit to turn his traveling wagon into a thriving business.

Even after Reginald's presumed death, The Goofy Goobers remained an active force. During the events of the Patrick Star Show, they managed to get Patrick, Squidina, and Walter to taste the ice cream, leading to all three joining the cult in their adulthood. At an unspecified point, the patrons of one Goofy Goober establishment realized its true intentions. Thus, they took over the restaurant and renamed it the Thug Tug. They also banned kids or any one else impressionable enough to be a part of the cult, as to ensure their own safety.

In the present day, the Goofy Goober organization was debatably even stronger than had been in the past, so much so that they were heavily involved with making the in-universe film The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, even chosing one of their members, Squidward, to direct. During the events of the film, SpongeBob and Patrick, prominent Goofy Goobers visited the restaurant and got drunk off of the ice cream and passed out. When they pair went on their adventure to save the crown, they faced numerous obstacles that resembled the cult. However, they were too far gone to realize the truth, and SpongeBob in particular fully embraced the Goofy Goobers at the end of the movie.

At one point after thia, Patrick Star wanted to become an employee, still unaware of the cults true intentions. Patrick, being as incompetent as he is, caused chaos for the restaurant. Nonetheless, he fully embraced the beliefs of the cult, giving them yet another member.

Practices[]

The Practices of the Goofy Goobers follow many ideas of the traditional cult. As mentioned above, they have their victims trade in their real money for a Goofy Goober currency. Goofy Goobers also wear the cult's memorabilia, including Goofy Goober hats and even Goofy Goober underpants in some cases.

The Goofy Goober cult revolves around the an anthropomorphic peanut, also called the Goofy Goober. They see the peanut as their god and have undying loyalty to him. Goofy Goober restaurants have his imagery all over, and they even have an employee dress as him and recite the Goofy Goober theme song.
