Paul Duval, also known as The Grey Gargoyle, is a major antagonist of the Marvel Fanfilm Universe. He acts as the main antagonist of the 2019 Marvel fanfilm/presentation Iron Man & Black Mamba 2 and a minor antagonist of Spiderman: Rise of The Darkness. He returns as a major antagonist in the Marvel/DC fanmade crossover movie Day of The Hero and he reappears as the secondary antagonist in the fanfilm The Fantastic Knights Return, and Spiderman: The Shocking Truth. He is the head of Project: Apocalypse (which at first was disguised and called by the name of Project: Pacoy Lisa) and he intended at all costs to become the world's only superhero, as he staged an apocalypse which he was about to save everyone from it, except the other superheroes of S.H.I.E.L.D. He also happens to be the secret leader of an organization called The Black Order, as well as the temporary leader of The Sinister Six, and a member of a band of supervillains working for Venom.
He is portrayed by David Beckham who also played as Jeremy Philips in the Toy Story remake.
History[]
Working with the Iron Man and Tanya[]
Paul at first tags along with Iron Man and Tanya, as he requests them to take him with on their vacation to London so that he could further his project which he calls it Project: Pacoy Lisa. He explains to Iron Man that he was working with his partner and friend Tanya Sealy/The Black Mamba on equipment from a different realm which could renovate a better future and win the war against an apocalypse created by The Black Order, led by Mysterio. He informed Tony Stark aka The Iron Man that Mysterio is about to attack The Big Ben and then destroy the entire city of London. Paul also warns Tony that Mysterio is The Black Order's smart cookie. The Iron Man manages to escape Mysterio's illusions, but mistakenly gives Quentin Beck in his human form the location of the other people, as he did not know that Quentin is actually Mysterio. However, Paul seemingly manages to defeat Mysterio by duplicating his sword and using the clone of that sword to slice Mysterio in half. Everyone cheers and bows to the new favorite hero of all times, and Paul also briefly becomes Tanya's girlfriend (though she did not give up on Tony) and they have kissed each other as the crowd cheered to them. However, during the late night Mysterio's corpse teleport itself, as Mysterio regenerates his upper bodyparts a moment later.
True colors revealed[]
Paul later goes with Tanya to the Big Ben's rooftop, as they watch the stars and also the beautiful view of London. However, Tony comes to tell Tanya that he loves her, and he surprisingly sees that she is now (seemingly) together with Paul Duval. Iron Man gets upset and walks away in thoughts of being a nobody, and not even a hero anymore. He tries to convince Tanya that something is wrong with Iron Man, but she walks away and she chooses Tony over Paul. Paul's attempts to manipulate Tanya have failed, and therefore, he goes to the next step in his plan; to unleash the project in it's true form; Project: Apocalypse. It's also revealed that he staged all the attacks of The Black Order in order to become the world's last superhero and the only survivor among the superhuman population. He arrives at The Black Order's lair, revealing himself as the secret leader (with Mysterio, Abomination and Mephisto only being his enforcers). He also explains about his ambitious plans to become the only superhero in the universe by saving just the ordinary citizens and abandoning their heroes during the apocalypse. He plans to kill all the heroes in the world, specifically The Iron Man. After his epic speech to his minions, he and his men transform into their superhuman forms, as he becomes The Grey Gargoyle. He then goes together with Mephisto to the S.H.I.E.L.D base, where he meets Spiderman and Psylcoke, and battles them until he manages to kill them both and achieve Psylocke's head. It is revealed during the battle that Psylocke was once his friend, until he lost in the science fair and she won, and for that reason she was one of the many students to laugh at his failure. The Grey Gargoyle then enters the base and confronts both Tanya and Tony, who have previously discovered his plans and how he used another realm called The Supreme Intelligence to manufacture the greatest powers of the universe, thus unleashing the impossible. The Grey Gargoyle then reveals that his reason for all this planning was because he wanted to be the only superhero in the universe, and thereafter, he gives Tanya another chance to join him, and tells her that if she decides to stick with Tony she will die as well, in a very painful way. Tanya calls The Gargoyle a monster, and tells him that the name Gargoyle fits him. However, he denies the fact that he is a monster, and replies that he is the future and that he will save the planet from the apocalypse as he does deserve to do so. He almost kills Tanya and Tony, but they manage to overcome him and escape before he gets stronger. Tony and Tanya then fly a plane so that Tony can jump into the eye of the apocalypse. As he jumps off the plane and into the eye of the apocalypse, Tony Stark finds himself inside the realm of The Supreme Intelligence. The voice of The Supreme Intelligence asks him if he wants to build himself superpowers just like Paul did. Iron Man replies that he does want to gain impossible and unlimited superpowers. The Iron Man is then asked by The Intelligence to demonstrate his powers as a verification that he is stronger than the previous one to build these powers. The Iron Man was proved to be stronger than The Gargoyle, and therefore, he got the powers that he needed; all the unlimited powers that the realm ever knew of. The Iron Man used illusion powers to defeat both Abomination and Mysterio. Iron Man then confronted The Gargoyle, who was now depowered as he turned back into his original form; Paul Duval. Paul begged Tony not to kill him, and also claims that he was possessed by his Gargoyle persona and that he wants to save the world just like Tony did. However, as Tony forgives him and walks away, Paul reveals one more time that it was only an excuse and that he wasn't really possessed. He willingly tried to backstab Tony with a powerful sword. However, Tony took control of the sword, thus causing Paul to fly back. Tony then sticks the sword into Paul's head. Thereafter, The Gargoyle falls down and his plans ultimately backfire.
Paul Duval was eventually revived by Grandmaster as part of Carnage's plans to cause chaos and eliminate Spiderman.
Personality[]
Even when he was working with Tanya Sealy, and later even with Tony Stark/The Iron Man, Paul was always an ambitious and cunning individual who cared about nothing more then himself being the greatest superhuman in existence. Duval did not even care about the fact that he was willing to cause genocide by killing all the heroes of the universe, but he only cared about his own name. He was also shown to be envious of both Iron Man and Psylocke. However, he pretended to love Tanya Sealy/The Black Mamba, only as part of a ploy in order to manipulate her into first joining his project and then helping him against the other heroes. Paul was a manipulative, ruthless, cunning, bloodthirsty, heartless and emotionless mastermind who sought to bring the impossible to life, even though it is just possible in such forms as Mysterio's illusions and Abomination's unlimited physical strength. He desired to break the laws of the universe and it's nature, thus willing to bring the apocalypse just so he could unleash a better future for himself and whoever did not stand in his way to glory. He was even shown to be manipulative and quite bitter towards his loyalists from The Black Order. He used them to achieve his own goals and was willing to let them die or even kill them later on. Near the end, he claims that the persona of The Grey Gargoyle has possessed him completely and that his human intentions are to save the world. However, that was also revealed to be just another ploy to get The Iron Man killed, and therefore, he paid his price near the film's climax.

Trivia[]
- He is far worse than The Grey Gargoyle from the comics.
- He could be considered as one of the most evil villains in the Marvel Fanfilm Universe. In fact, he is the most evil in the Iron Man saga, along with Justin Hammer.
- The project in it's disguise name (Pacoy Lisa) had the same letters as the project's real name (Apocalypse). The two names are combined of the same letters.
- Despite being a gargoyle, Paul is not made out of stone in his superhuman form.
