Griffith is a recurring character in several songs by the Finnish songwriter and guitarist Anton Kabanen, specifically in those songs which are tributes to the manga series Berserk. Largely mirroring his canon counterpart, Griffith was the leader of the mercenary company called the Band of the Hawk. However, he sacrificed his entire army to the God Hand to become the latter's fifth member with Femto as his new name.
Due to Kabanen switching bands, this version of Griffith appears in the album Battle Beast by the band of the same name, as well as in the albums Berserker and From Hell with Love by the band named Beast in Black.
Biography[]
Battle Beast (Battle Beast)[]
Songs from the album Battle Beast, by the band also called Battle Beast:
- "Kingdom" is sung from Griffith's perspective. Here, he sings about how he sacrificed his own Band of the Hawk to the God Hand so that he may become it's fifth member, Femto. Griffith declares that he will live his dream of a kingdom.
- "Out of Control" is sung from Griffith's perspective after he became Femto. Here, Femto sings about how people are under his control in his new infernal domain as a demon lord.
- "Golden Age" is an instrumental song.
Bringer of Pain (Battle Beast)[]
Songs from the album Bringer of Pain, also by Battle Beast:
- "The Eclipse" (not actually sung by Kabanen, but instead by Noora Louhimo) is sung from the perspective of Guts during the Eclipse. Guts tells his fellow Band of the Hawk members that they've been "deceived and misled by our savior," and then turns to Griffith to say he'll "still have to run from my wrath."
Berserker (Beast in Black)[]
Songs from the album Berserker, by the band Beast in Black:
- "Hell for All Eternity" is sung from Griffith's perspective, as he offers his Band of the Hawk as a sacrifice and triggers the Eclipse. He asks the "God of all desire" and the "Four unholy angels" to accept his offering so that fate may realize his dream.
- "The Fifth Angel" is sung by Femto after he embraces evil. It recounts the time when Femto forced himself on Casca out of spite toeards his former friend Guts. Femto takes sadistic glee in "Defil[ing] your [Casca's] womanhood before his [Guts'] eyes" and in mentally breaking Guts and Casca.
- "Go to Hell" is sung from the perspective of Guts instead of Griffith/Femto. Here, in the aftermath of being branded and watching Casca be raped, Guts declares war on all the Apostles. He asks the demons (including Femto) to burn in hell.
From Hell with Love (Beast in Black)[]
Songs from the album From Hell with Love, also by Beast in Black:
- "This is War" is sung from the perspective of the whole Band of the Hawk, including Griffith, in the time period before Griffith's betrayal and turn to evil. They all sing about fighting for the "dream of a kingdom and throne" under Griffith's banner.
- "Unlimited Sin" is a song about the Apostles in general, singing about the idea of sacrifice and pledging yourself to demonkind.
- "Repentless" is sung from the perspective of Femto as he realizes his dream of a kingdom. He sings about how he become one of the God Hand as a demon lord with all the power of hell. He recalls raping Casca, implying this takes place after the event.
- "Die by the Blade" is sung from the perspective of Guts rather than Griffith/Femto. Here, a vengeful Guts declares that he will have his revenge on Griffith by personally killing him in battle.
