Grimbo, otherwise known mistakenly as Sonic.Exe or Xenophanes, is the secondary antagonist of Encore Mode within Vs. Sonic.Exe, being the main antagonist of Too Slow (Encore) and would’ve been the villainous main protagonist in the scrapped song Slaybells.
In this mod, he would find Boyfriend at Green Hill Zone, and Boyfriend would challenge him to a rap battle, since Xeno needed to pee. Just remember, if you called him anything else, you'd be actively wrong!
Just like his basis, he was voiced by MarStarBro, the composer for the song.
Appearance[]
This interpretation of the character is much closer to Classic Sonic in design, being much shorter than the other characters in the mod, and also sized down to around the same height as Boyfriend. Grimbo’s design is also taken directly from Sonic.Exe’s current design from Too Slow. To quote from the OG character page of Xeno, “His fur is darker, and his arms seem to be "softer", and he smiles abnormally with his mouth being totally dark. The main characteristic of Grimbo is his black eyes with small reddish glowing pupils, and his eye sockets secrete slightly pink blood from his lower eyelids, resulting in a permanent mark on his face. Occasionally, Grimbo is depicted being slimmer or flatter to differentiate it from regular Sonic.” Additionally, he can shapeshift his design into Sonic, which is an unused concept.
In his planned design to be used in Slaybells, he appears to be the same as his conventional appearance, except that two strands of fur on his head are messed up. His shoes are replaced with identical boots, but with pointed sides and no cuffs. He uses the two, for some reason untouched, tails of Soul Tails as a scarf. In his poses, he releases his quills' crystals. His design is also, oddly enough, drawn after his basis' design from the 1.0-2.0 versions.

Background[]
Prior to the events of Encore Mode, Grimbo took Xenophanes’ spot in Too Slow, since the latter needed to use the bathroom.
Act 1: Too Slow (Encore)[]
The game begins with Grimbo disguised as normal Sonic. Suddenly, a small rapper named Boyfriend approaches him. Boyfriend challenges Grimbo to a rap battle, who, intrigued, turns the mic into a bloody red color. When the song starts, his voice is akin to normal Sonic, but when the music continues, he drops his facade and reveals himself, then his voice goes faster by the minute, with even a jumpscare coming in. He eventually makes it clear that he intends to kill Boyfriend, and says, "I'M GONNA GETCHA! I AM GOD! HA HA HA HA HA!"
After failing to defeat Boyfriend in the rap battle, an enraged Grimbo chases down him in Scrap Brain Zone before running into a door. He teleports past the door and behind what's assumed to be Boyfriend before it's revealed to be a mire wooden cutout of Boyfriend. Unamused, Grimbo looks to the camera and teleports to a forest to lie down, curl up, and cry.

Grimbo sees Boyfriend as another "victim" to slaughter and battles him purely out of his love of "playing" with his victims, however after losing to him in the rap battle, Grimbo tries to chase him down before running away into a forest.

Differences[]
- Girlfriend is nowhere to be seen in the flesh in Encore Mode, as proven by concept art.
- Boyfriend is turned into a Mobian rabbit, as opposed to a human.
Too Slow (Encore)[]
- Rather than taking place at Hide & Seek as part of Angel Island until the Angel Island part hits, Grimbo’s version takes place in Green Hill Zone, which was where Hill Act 1 took place in the original Sonic.Exe.
- In the original Too Slow, Sonic.exe and Boyfriend stay in Hide & Seek by the time the Drowning part hits. Grimbo on the other hand, chases down Boyfriend through Angel Island, the forest during You Can't Run, and finally Scrap Brain Zone.
- The opening part is rather unique, it starts with Grimbo in his faker form, with Boyfriend standing next to him. After BF’s verse, Grimbo drops his disguise and laughs at him.

- According to his creator:
- Grimbo's favorite food to eat is chicken nuggets, even his creator feeds him them.
- In November 2023, Cherribun revealed what happened to Grimbo after Too Slow (Encore): Grimbo ran away to the forest, curled up into a ball, and bawled over being beaten by BF and GF, leaving Xenophanes to continue the week in "You Can't Run Encore".
- She made the character in order to stop the "Xenophanes being putted in any FNF mod" trend.
- Grimbo mostly speaks in captial letters, as prove by all of his X posts.
- There was a long theory that Grimbo had two mothers, those being his creator Cherribun and her girlfriend Noelle. However, despite what it seems, Cherribun officially confirmed that this isn’t true in late December 2023, as it was the wiki taking her jokes too far.
- His version of Tails is called Timothy, who is seen as a black Tails, without a mouth, a blue tie and has ripped tails. Their friendship is one-sided, appearantly.
- He used to have an official Twitter account known as @officialgrimbo (Which turns out to be his creator's old Twitter account). Sadly, it's now deleted when his creator departed the EXE and FNF communities.
- He makes a cameo in the mod Hoggy Holidays, where he is shown together with Zephaniah.
- Although he doesn’t have a second phase, his second phase looks like this.
- He canonically knows about the wiki called Funkipedia Mods, and has gone out of their way to correct them for calling him a "Joke Character."
- That statement seriously gets to him.
- He considers his original counterpart, Xenophanes, a good friend, although the latter does not seem to be aware of his existence.
- The entire reason of why Grimbo was even there during Too Slow (Encore), was because Xeno needed to pee, and therefore Grimbo rap battled BF for him.
- Before becoming a separate character in early December 2022, Grimbo was a simple nickname given to Sonic.exe in Encore Mode. This was changed however by Cherribun.[1]
- According to one of the mod’s team members, the Encore week for was meant to follow more to the original story, and also include various jumpscare images.
- While Girlfriend makes an appearance in Xeno’s week, she is nowhere to be seen in the flesh in Grimbo’s week.
- Despite popular belief, You Can't Run (Encore) and Triple Trouble (Encore) weren't meant for Grimbo, but were actually for Sonic.exe instead.[2]
