| The Narrator is not happy with this page (Grisha Jaeger (Paradis Rises)) for the following reason(s): Not needed Please discuss it on the talk page for this article. |
Grisha Jaeger is the main antagonist of “A Father’s Machinations”, which is part of the “Paradis Rises” series written by LockAndKey989.
He is the biological father of Eren and Zeke Jaeger, husband of Dina Fritz and Carla Waechter, and father figure of Mikasa Ackerman and Historia Reiss/Krista Lenz-Jaeger.
After feeding himself to his second son, Eren, he becomes a living memory inside his son’s mind. Subconsciously manipulating him until Eren becomes a Titan for the first time, allowing him to talk to Eren directly. His ultimate goal is to retrieve the Founding Titan from Rod Reiss and use the Rumbling to reform the Eldian Empire, by wiping out every city in Marley that doesn’t have an internment zone and then conquering the continent. For this, he will do anything, even sacrifice his own family.
Personality[]
Grisha Jaeger is much like how his counterpart was during his younger years. Except that an incident where Ymir Fritz healed his wounds steeled his resolve to restore Eldia, and thus did not have his counterparts heal realization after Zeke’s betrayal. He also became more sadistic, enjoying watching Gross be devoured by Titans.
While he did genuinely love his family, feel some remorse for how he treated Zeke, and cared for Mikasa and Historia, as well as Armin, he ultimately saw them all as tools to help restore Eldia and was willing to manipulate and sacrifice them all of it meant achieving such, if remorsefully.
As a memory in Eren’s head, he became far more manipulative and controlling. Going as far as to erase Eren’s memories, keep secrets from him about his past and the Curse of Ymir, and even take control of his body to achieve his goals.
History[]
Grisha’s history is nearly the same as his canon counterpart, except for two alterations due to Karl Fritz ACTUALLY being overthrown in this world’s history.
When he was in kindergarten, he, along with every other Eldian toddler, was forced to stand in place while Marleyan children were encouraged to throw rocks at them.
The day he took Dina and Zeke outside the internment zone, Dina was attacked by a Marleyan and Grisha rushed to defend her and was greatly injured. Right when he was about to give up on his mission, Ymir Fritz appeared before him through the Paths and healed his body. This convinced Grisha that his cause was true and became more determined than ever to restore Eldia.
After arriving on Paradis, he uses the power of the Attack Titan to plan out various stages to help him find the Founding Titan. Including preparing for the plague outbreak in advance so he can be hailed as a hero. Marrying Carla Waechter she can sire Eren to be his successor. Befriending the Ackerman family so their daughter can be a powerful ally. Subtly encouraging his son's aggression toward Marley. Giving Mikasa Ackerman a serum to increase her strength and power (which allows her to save Carla's life when the Wall falls). And becoming a father figure to the lonely Historia Reiss.
After Eren proclaims his desire to join the Scouts, Grisha decides his son is ready to work with him to take the Founding Titan. He goes to pick up Historia from her neglectful grandparents so that she can be turned into a pseudo-Titan-Shifter and be used to activate the Founder once he gets it. Planning to ambush Rod and Frieda Reiss next time they visit Historia. However, the night that happens, the Warriors invade Paradis, forcing Grisha to confront the Reiss family much earlier. Grisha manages to kill most of the Reiss family but fails to get the Founding Titan (which belonged to Rod Reiss). With his plan a failure and knowing that the Military Police will be looking for him, he turns his son Eren into a Titan and allows himself to be eaten so that his son can inherit the Attack Titan. However, Grisha used a special mixture of serums to give Eren's Titan Warhammer Titan-like powers and allow Eren to completely absorb his memories and consciousness so he can exist inside Eren's mind. Though he would only be able to influence Eren subconsciously until Eren's first Titan transformation, in which Grisha gained the strength to communicate with Eren directly and in his dreams.
Trivia[]
- As a sentient memory, Grisha appears to Eren as a young man as opposed to the middle-aged man that Eren knew before his death. This is meant to symbolize how, inside, Grisha hadn’t changed since his younger years.
- He is very similar to the person Eren would become in season 4. However, unlike Eren he is willing to sacrifice his loved ones to achieve “freedom” and he intended to spare as many non-Paradisian Eldians as possible. He even tells Eren he is against a full-rumbling both for the sake of all Eldians and because of environmental consequences that would affect the planet (and Paradis) overall.
- He overcame his distaste for Paradisian Eldians after living on Paradis, like his canon counterpart.
- He still loves Dina despite loving Carla as well. He wishes to change her back to human form after getting the Founder, but admits that will be an awkward talk between the three of them.
- This version of Grisha was not influenced by Eren’s future self and slaughtered the Reiss family on his own accord. However, because Rod had the Founder in this timeline, he was unable to attain it after Rod fled and took his Titan form.
- This version of Grisha owned a car since Paradis was allowed to be aware of the outside world and have modern technology.
