~ Grogar to Twilight Sparkle |
Grogar is the main antagonist of the now cancelled MLP S9 Alternate Ending Comic series made by MoonRises.
He is depicted as the mysterious creator of all monsters who ruled Equestria in the ancient past, until he was defeated and banished by Gusty the Great. Grogar returns thanks to Discord and assembles a team of Equestria's most powerful villains to help him defeat the Mane Six and conquer Equestria.
Role[]
Backstory[]
It all started in antiquity, before the rise of Equestria. In those mysterious lands, there lived creatures that possessed magical powers and some that possessed none. Some of the most powerful magical creatures were the magical goats. They were known for being the best wizards. They were very ambitious, proud and believed to be superior to all other races.
In the kingdom of the magical goats, there was an evil cult hidden from the society, consisting of 6 wizards who each held a bell with a jewel which steals the powers of several creatures. The jewels had different colors because they absorbed different powers: beauty, happiness, courage, knowledge, healing and magic. These artifacts were initially not used for good purposes. They used them for their selfish desires to become deities. The youngest member was Grogar (7th member), a baby goat also known as the son of the cult's leader along with his wife. Even if Grogar didn't had a bell, he had a green jewel (the 7th element) similar to the other members of the cult. The green jewel was stronger than the other 5 jewels and weaker than the jewel of magic. The princesses, Scorpan and probably Discord knew about the existence of a possible 7th element which had the power of all the 5 Elements combined and also the one which sustained them, even the 6th one.
In one night, the royals along with their subjects of that time discovered the cult's hiding place. They said to the goats that they wanted their magic back. A fierce battle ensued between them. Before the fight started, the father of Grogar gave to his son his bell. His father told him to replace the Element of Magic with his Element, the Element of Sustain and put it to the bell. He said to Grogar to run far away from the battlefield.
The 5 sorcerers were defeated because their bells were destroyed, and the crystals were taken by the royals to return the powers of each creature. The 6th jewel loses its power when the connection broke between the elements as they were taken from the bells. The jewel of magic had cracked and turned into ash. Unfortunately, the royals failed to restore the powers to their subjects because the jewels were under a strong curse that did not allow them to release the stolen powers. As punishment, Grogar's parents, along with the other members of the cult, were thrown into the realm of shadows. Only one bell was not destroyed. Grogar was traumatized by the loss of his family.
The young goat had discovered that his jewel could do more than steal magic. He realized that he had the power to create and give life to monsters. His first creation consisted of his own manifestation of hatred. It was a huge goat/ram with clawed hands and one eye. Grogar called him Arimaspi. This was the beginning for the Epoch of Darkness.
Only through the power of the green jewel, Grogar could have the ability to create. Therefore, during the fighting, he kept it hidden in a box from everybody.
When Gusty the Great stole the bell and took away all of his magic, Grogar was turned to ash, but his soul took back the bell and took Gusty’s powers through fear and then created a black sun. Gusty was able to undo this and it gave birth to Celestia and Luna.
Years after Grogar’s and Tambelon’s fall, Gusty the Great ordered to the Pillars to find the lost 6 six jewels. Star Swirl was the one to find the last jewel. Later, he discovered that the 6th jewel wasn't like the other ones and he united the 5 jewels to create the spark. After the Pillars found all the 6 ones, joining their forces they managed to break their curse. Purifying them, they spread the magic that managed to restore peace and harmony among the kingdoms. The Pillars named the jewels the Elements of Harmony. Then Gusty unite the elements, transforming them into a seed that was to become the Tree of harmony.
Season 9[]
After thousands of years, he has his guards find Discord and bring him to him. He restores his memories and offers Discord to rejoin him, but he refuses. He then threatens to send his guards to kill Fluttershy if he didn’t comply. He then uses Discord as a host to escape the Realm of Shadows.
Because this is the real Grogar, this means he also does the same things Discord did in the canon Season 9. He summons Queen Chrysalis, Lord Tirek, and Cozy Glow so they could work together to overcome the Mane 6 and conquer Equestria. The difference being that he’s not doing it to boost Twilight’s confidence. He knew Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy Glow had his bell and when they took all of Discord’s magic, Grogar’s soul was transfer into the bell. When the Legion of Doom was about to kill the Mane 6 and Spike, Grogar activates his bell and traps the villains inside of his bell and taking their powers as well.
They may be trapped in the bell, but that doesn't mean they're going to stay and do nothing. They become the soul of the bell and give life to the artifact. Although they can't escape from it, they try to prevent Grogar from achieving his goals.
He tells the Mane 6 and Spike about how he used Discord to escape. He created Discord to be the gateway between Tambelon and Equestria and to restore Tambelon. Unlike the other creations, Discord was one of Grogar's mental projections and a manifestation of chaos.
After telling this, he uses the Mane 6 and Spike’s fears to turn them into stone and nearly blasts them with magic before they were saved. He then brings Tambelon back. He sends Bray along with some soldiers to find the remains of the Mean 6. He brings only 5 of the Mean 6 back to life and gifts them new forms. Even if they had the DNA of the ponies, they didn't have the power of the Elements of Harmony. Only through the power of the Elements, evil Twilight or Midnight Sparkle could be brought to life. There were 2 ways for Midnight to be awakened.
Mean 5 could be sent to take Mane 5's power and annihilate them. If they failed, then they had to find Spike, capture him and steal his hidden powers to recreate the green jewel known as the 7th Element. The 7th Element was known by the ancestors as The Element of Creation which was neither an Element of Harmony nor Chaos. It was said that this element had the power of all 5 Elements to unleash the spark of The Element of Magic. He brings about all the monsters he has created, the Storm King, the Diamond Dogs, and Ahuizotl. He tries to kill Scorpan, but Twilight gets in the way and is nearly killed.
Appearance[]
Like his canon self, Grogar is a ram who are larger than the ponies in appearance, have goatees, sharp teeth, large horns and red collars with big golden studs and a single chain link at the center that held their magical bells. Grogar had cornflower blue fur while his mane, tail and eyebrows are white, dark azure horns and hooves and pale apple green eyes with red pupils.
Personality[]
Grogar has a serious and frightful demeanor that was enough to intimidate the other villains into submission. He claimed to be extremely patient and cunning, having waited for thousands of years to take his revenge and is willing to work with other villains just for a chance to pull it off. Despite this claim, however, he was unable to tolerate his team bickering with each other, so he sends them on a mission to reclaim his Bewitching Bell in order to teach them to work together. When they claimed to have failed this mission, he only showed anger for a brief moment and then was pleased that they finally got their act together. He was aware that they had his bell, so he decides to play along with their lie. He also did not tolerate disobedience, as he refused to bring back Sombra after he turned his back on him and used his death as an example to coerce the other villains into compliance. Unlike his canon counterpart when he was portrayed by Discord, he is much more murderous and cruel as his terrorizing of Equestria had more details. He did not underestimate the Mane Six and acknowledged their teamwork as the key to their success.
