"Henry Emily", most commonly known as Phone Guy and falsely known as "William Afton", is the main antagonist of Five Nights At Freddy’s: The Musical. He serves as the overarching antagonist of the first four nights, the main antagonist of Night 5, a minor character in Blood & Tears, and the secondary antagonist of the "First Nights at Freddy's" prequel series.
He was the former partner of William Afton and possibly the co-owner of Fredbear's Family Diner, until he killed the real William Afton and stole his identity, becoming the new owner of Fredbear's in his place. He rebranded Fredbear's Family Diner to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, using his restaurants as cover to murder children in his spare time. Later on, he destroyed the original Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and built a new one in its place, changing his identity to "Scott Cawthon" in the process.
He is portrayed by Matthew Patrick (MatPat) whenever his mask is off, and is voice acted by David King in whenever the mask is over his face or he's over the phone, such as in “Blood & Tears” and “The Monster in Your Head.” AJ Pinkerton also occasionally body-doubles for him if the mask covers his face.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Phone Guy's life before Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, but he had been killing people and stealing their identities for a very long time. Among these was a man named Henry Emily, who he killed and stole the identity of. Later on, he used this false identity to approach William Afton, who was looking for a technical engineer to help him run his diner, and manipulate him into letting him work as his business partner under the pretense that he had the technical abilities to help William. During this time, he murdered many children while wearing William's Fredbear suit. One day, William caught him attempting to lure a child during closing hours. William attempted to save the child, but was bludgeoned to death by Henry with a crowbar. Afterwards, his identity was stolen by Henry, allowing Henry to gain ownership of Fredbear's Family Diner, changing the name to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, and using it as a way to keep murdering children.
Henry, now known as William Afton, hired the real William's nephew Michael as a worker and his niece Elizabeth as a night guard. He also hired A.J. to work on the sister location (which is inhabited by a sentient and vengeful robot Baby’), and a woman named Alexandria Benedict (who’s known as Eggs) to work in another location.
The Monster In Your Head (Prequel)[]
When Eggs was closing up, Afton calls her to see how everything is going. She tells William about her plans to make new animatronics for the children, in which he shuts down and tells her to just lock up. Eggs refuses and she makes the Trash and The Gang, while being stalked by Vanny. Afton comes in and angrily berates her for making the gang, insults her before threatening to stuff her in a suit if she doesn’t clean her mess up before leaving. After Eggs gets injured by Vanny, who bites her neck. Afton cleans up the mess while lying to the police about the circumstances surrounding her and what happened.
Ground Zero (Prequel)[]
In the morning, William calls Mike and promotes him as a manager at another establishment after Eggs got injured. While working, William tells Michael to order a chainsaw and a flamethrower for "security." At the end of Ground Zero, Mike gets murdered by Pan Stan, and as a result, William calls a "Mr. WantsToBattle," about a job opening.
Blood & Tears (Prequel)[]
After getting attacked by Circus Baby, A.J. calls William. He terrifyingly states what happened and begs for another job. William suggests a day shift at Freddy’s and A.J. agrees, hanging up.
Web Of Lies (Prequel)[]
After the death of Michael, William was threatened to have his business license removed and reported that they're going to look around his pizzeria. He decides to pin the blame on the animatronics, specifically Foxy, for the murders. Before he leaves to kidnap Foxy, his niece, Elizabeth comes in to work the shift, and tells William she is backing up old files. William yells at her to destroy the files, to which she reluctantly agrees. William leaves and kidnaps Foxy.
Dark Remains (Prequel)[]
As Afton kidnapped Foxy, he plans to frame him for the Bite of '87 incident, but since Foxy and the others were boxed up by Glitchtrap, William believes the safety inspector helped Foxy escape, so after arranging a meeting, William kills the inspector with his chainsaw.
Shadows of Agony (Prequel)[]
After killing the safety inspector, William cuts off his hands with his chainsaw before editing the security tapes to cover his tracks. However, before he can leave his office he is attacked by Glitchtrap who picks him up by the throat. But when he unmasks William, Glitchtrap realizes that he isn't William Afton. In order to escape, Phone Guy breaks a pipe which spews steam onto Glitchtrap's face and cause him to let go. William then runs away with Glitchtrap deciding it's not worth chasing him since he won't go to the police.
Taking Back Fazbear's (Prequel)[]
Phone Guy doesn't appear in this prequel, but he's referred to in the song as 'a man with fake names'.
Virus (Prequel)[]
While Phone Guy himself doesn't appear in this prequel, Glitchtrap reveals that Phone Guy was once known as Henry Emily, William Afton's disreputable partner who killed the real William Afton and stole his identity long before the events of the story.
7 Years Later[]
After Henry destroyed the original building with the bomb, he replaced his hands with robotic ones. His original hands were found in the rubble and identified as William Afton's remains. This allowed Henry to leave behind his identity as William Afton, changing his name to "Scott Cawthon" and starting up a new Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. During this time, one of the animatronics (most likely Freddy) bit a kid by accident, causing Nate to quit his job. Scott needed to tie up loose ends, so he hired another man, named Mark, to be a night guard.
Night 1[]
Scott calls Mark (as the Phone Guy) during his first day on the job, and warns him (In song) about the animatronics and their activeness at night, to which Mark ignores and hangs up.
Night 3[]
After Mark gets arrested and escapes due to almost murdering a man, Phone Guy calls Nate and pleads for him to take the job back, and Nate reluctantly accepts.
Night 5[]
After the confrontation between the animatronics, Mark, Nate, AJ (Purple Guy), and Springtrap get resolved peacefully, Phone Guy calls them and gets put on voicemail. Scott talks, congratulating them on surviving five nights, however, he says they were suppose to kill each other. Suddenly the walls behind them are banging and they hear a chainsaw revving. Phone Guy says he has to go into the office to finish this.
Cawthon, in a bear suit, bursts through the wall with a chainsaw flame flower. He unmasks himself and reveals his true identity as Nate’s employer, and as the phone guy. A.J insults Henry, causing his death after Henry plunges the chainsaw in his gut and saw him.
Freddy tries to stop Scott, but he simply kicks Freddy, toward a wall, rendering him unconscious. Scott thanks Mark for bring all of them together and he puts on his bear head and is about to set them on fire, when Mark releases Springtrap. Springtrap charges at Scott, and even after Scott cuts off his head, his detached body starts attack Scott.
After both of them fall towards a wall, Scott's flame-flower tank ruptures, bursting the office into flames. Nate, Mark and the animatronics are able to get away, as Scott screams as both him and Springtrap are engulfed in flames.
Scott was able to be saved in the fire by the police, but was sentenced to jail after finding security tapes, still alive. Cawthon calls Nate, promising that he’ll get out of prison and kill all of them, when Nate simply puts him on hold and tosses the phone into a fountain.
Appearance[]
Henry (Like his actor) is a Caucasian man with brown hair and eyes. Through out all of his appearances, he is seen wearing a brown bear suit, which in the end, got destroyed and ripped apart. He also carries a flame thrower endured chainsaw.
Personality[]
Henry, unlike his original counterpart is cruel, evil and downright psychopathic, being closer to the canon version of William Afton. Though he acted calm and friendly as Phone Guy, his true colors came out as uncaring and deranged. He seemingly had no care for his employees own family since he didn't seem to be upset at all when Mike died and he yelled at his Elizabeth when she told him that she was backing up his files. Henry shows no humor and likability, unlike the animatronics and the rest of the characters in FNAF: The Musical.
Killed Victims[]
- 1: William Afton - Bludgeoned to death with a crowbar
- 2-6: 5 unnamed kids - Killed by unknown means
- 7: Health inspector - Stabbed in the gut with a chainsaw.
- 8: A.J (Purple Guy) - Killed in the same way as the health inspector.

Trivia[]
- During his angry rant, he says he goes by many names, that being MatPat (The Actor) and Scott Cawthon (The creator of FNAF).
- These are later confirmed to be other names he stole from people he killed.
- Phone Guy using William Afton as a fake name is most likely a nod to the famous theory of Phone Guy being the killer from the early games.
- Despite William Afton only being a fake name and him actually being Henry Emily, he has more similarities to the canon William Afton than he does with Henry, being a serial killer who uses fake names and is commonly seen wearing a mascot suit.
- The color of his captions in "Dark Remains" is also purple, the main color associated with William Afton in the main series despite Purple Guy being a separate character in the lore of the musical.
- It was not confirmed that he was indeed William Afton until the prequel episodes.
- However, it was revealed in "Shadows of Agony" that Phone Guy wasn't William Afton, and merely used that name as an alias.
- In "Virus" it was revealed that he was actually Henry Emily, the business partner of the real William Afton who had killed him years prior to the events of the story and stole his identity.
- During an interview with Random Encounters, it was confirmed that Henry Emily isn't his real name either, and it was another person who Phone Guy stole the identity of.
- However, it was revealed in "Shadows of Agony" that Phone Guy wasn't William Afton, and merely used that name as an alias.
- The suit Henry wears is supposedly Fredbear, despite having Freddy's color scheme and design.
