Bryan, better known as the Herobrine is a recurring joke character in memes based on (alongside Ender Dragon) the 2025 film A Minecraft Movie.
Once meant to be a Hero, Bryan had become corrupted by power and mercilessly destroyed a village before becoming allied with the Nether forces, turning into an inhuman monster by the second.
Like his actual movie counterpart, Garrett Garrison, he is portrayed by Jason Mamoa.
Biography[]
Because he's based on the character of Garret Garrison, it can be assumed that Bryan's backstory is similar to his, with him being a former video game champion who was transported to the virtual world of Minecraft through a portal alongside four other people. Though despite being "meant" to be a hero, Bryan developed megalomaniac tendencies over their situation, feeling the power of every block coursing through his veins.
After an unknown sequence of events, Bryan ultimately turned to the dark side and to make this come across, decided to destroy an entire village: killing its inhabitants one by one, including the children and their farm animals, as well as burn it down to the ground. After his turn to evil, pulled out his kidney stone and turned it into Orb of Dominance, and gave it to the Seer, Bryan alligned with the Piglins and joined their quest to take over the world of Minecraft.
During his final altercation with Steve and his gang, Natalie, one of the other humans who were transported to the game world with him, confronted him about his fall to evil, asking how he could do that when he was meant to be a hero. Bryan simply scoffed at her question, mockingly stated that he likes the name "Hero, Bryan." After this, Bryan had fully turned into the villain Herobrine as his eyes turn completely white, all while an orchestral Wet Hands (in A minor) plays in the background.
After defeat of Bryan, his kidney stone-orb of dominance is being placed into a cave.
Trivia[]
- An reference to Herobrine can be seen in the actual film, where an Enderman-induced hallucination of Steve has glowing white eyes. According to Mojang, this was completely accidental, and no matter what they did Steve's eyes kept changing from the intended purple to white. This statement is obviously trying to invoke a paranormal intrigue, reminiscent of the original Herobrine legend.
