Herobrine is the titular main antagonist of Thodietho Production's Minecraft horror movie Herobrine. He was once a friend of Notch until he turned on him for ultimate power and control over the game.
History[]
Origins[]
Herobrine was originally created by Notch as "Steve" to help him build the world of Minecraft, the two were friends for a very long time and Notch even tought him how to get used to the world around him. During one session Notch was teaching Steve how to jump, and he had a vision of him flying instead, which would make it easier in his eyes. He told Notch that he wanted the power of creation just like him so he could learn faster and make things easier, but Notch declined and Steve ran away.
Steve then built a house of his own and tried numerous redstone experiments until he managed to create a command block, he continued until he was able to create more, but this lead to a void being opened and Steve walked inside. He then discovers the command window, and starts messing with the boundaries, but also accidentally deletes his sanity, leaving him to become an emotionless, power-hungry monster, that of Herobrine.
Notch finds the house Steve was in and sees him running out of the portal, he then sends Notch inside and seals it off, trapping him inside the command window as he burns Notch's house down.
Herobrine[]
Herobrine's first introduction is revealed at after 23 year old Charlie Davids enters a cave and experiences weird occurrences before mysteriously goes missing.
Meanwhile, missing persons investigator Thodietho is on the hunt for Charlie and hears about a murder on the news about a 17 year old boy with a lifeless expression on his face. He assembles a team with miner Martin, navigator Beau, and detective Michael Miller. The four set off on a boat and eventually end up on an island with a completely destroyed village and the cave Charlie had headed off into. The cave entrance is revealed to be a trap, and Michael discovers a hidden entrance to the mines.
The group struggle to get across an old wooden bridge as hostile mobs brainwashed by Herobrine arrive to attack them. They eventually get past the bridge and find a pathway leading to Charlie, however he has now been corrupted by Herobrine and falls off the edge to his death. They escape and try to find an exit, and Michael finds a lever that leads to a room, a sign on an emerald cross reads "lord HErObrINe". The ground beneath him collapses and he is trapped and killed by Herobrine.
The remaining trio then find a hallucination of Michael hanging on a pole as an iron wall starts to close in on them. They make it out alive and find a room with a diamond block. Beau stays behind and tries to mine it, only for the floor to disappear beneath him as he stands on a single block. Herobrine then appears in front of him and drops him into the void below. The last two survivors find a woman named Alex who they tell about what happened, she then shows them a way out of the cave before the walls turn into TNT with a timer threatening to set off in 15 minutes. They dig through the dirt and escape just as the TNT blows up. Minecraft then runs out of memory, and Thodietho is transported to a void where he reenters the Minecraft world.
He finds Michael and Alex are still alive and rest up in a forest, but aren't aware of Herobrine watching them. Thodietho goes to get some water and turns around to find Notch standing behind him, as he reveals flashbacks of when he supposedly killed everyone and stalked them. Thodietho snaps out of his dream and he and Michael run through the now burning forest caused by Herobrine. They escape and plan on finding Alex.
The two then fall through the floor and into a watery cave, they find Alex hlding a bow and arrow at them as she reveals himself to be Herobrine in disguise. Michael attempts to strike down Herobrine but he blasts him through the rocks and creates a 2x1 tunnel. His eyes light up and he shows Thodietho all of his memories, to the creation of Minecraft to how he became evil in the first place. He then starts controlling Thodietho into walking off the edge of the cliff to his death, but Michael comes back and knocks Herobrine away with a sword, snapping Thodietho out of his control, but Herobrine gains the upper hand by hitting him off the edge and into the void. Thodietho then knocks Herobrine off as well, but he lands on a platform he creates from below. He then switches places with Thodietho and jumps down, the cave starts to collapse and Notch jumps down with a sword, coming face-to-face with Herobrine for the first time in years. He then takes the platform off the the side of the cliff and it falls. Notch places down a command block and Herobrine attempts to get it, but he puts a lever on it which teleports them to a void-like area, Herobrine looks around confused and Notch hits him off the edge with his sword, leaving Herobrine to endlessly fall through the void, presumably ending his reign of terror.
The credits show a graveyard and one of the names on one of the tombstone's is Herobrine's real name, "Steve".
Personality[]
Before becoming a monster, Steve was originally a very jovial, yet confused person with complicated thoughts, as he had no idea what he was doing and thought that having the power of creation would make things easier for him to learn the basics and keep the world in order.
After his transformation, Herobrine became a ruthless, sadistic, murderous and cunning psychopath, with no sanity left within him due to accidentally deleting it. He mercilessly attacked and trapped people within the mineshafts they traveled into. Herobrine was extremely friendly in his Alex persona, and was successfully able to pull off a convincing act in his female form.
Powers and Abilities[]
Herobrine is able to teleport in the blink of an eye and can twist the world around him in any way he likes, he can also fly and use telekinesis in such a way it launches his opponents back in a violent manner. He can also brainwash people into becoming mindless puppets for him to control.

- The film is heavily inspired by NewScapePro's Herobrine trilogy, the most notable part being the death of Charlie Davids when he falls down the hole and the team try to escape.
