Hypno is the titular main antagonist of the Friday Night Funkin mod, Hypno's Lullaby.
Originally once like the original Pokemon, all of this changed once his trainer killed herself. Saddened by her demise and enraged by how everyone's reaction towards her fate was hysterical laughter, Hypno grew an intense hatred for humanity and sought to make them pay.
Appearance[]
During his first song, he looks like an extremely buff Hypno from Pokemon.
For his second song, his head becomes detached from the body and has a maniacal look to it.
For his third and final song, He becomes a gory mess as he is enraged that Girlfriend broke out of his hypnosis.
Personality[]
Due to not talking much, Hypno's full personality is mostly ambiguous. However, he is quite deceptive, as he continuously attempts to lure Girlfriend into the woods by claiming her Boyfriend is there with him. He eventually drops the lie and reveals his true intentions to her halfway through the song, most likely out of sadism and cockiness.
However, what lies behind Hypno is a genuinely tragic past regarding him and his trainer, Alexis. Although not really delved into that much, it can be safely assumed that he lived a happy life with her before she took her own. Her death and everyone around showing no sympathy and instead laughing is what drove Hypno insane and caused him to grow an intense hatred for humans. This all shows that he greatly loved his trainer and her death deeply affected him.
Despite his hatred of humans and his self isolation, Hypno is able to socialize with those who share his sadism and love for tormenting the innocent. As such, he gets along greatly with Lord X and MX, as the trio tend to head out to a bar (which is filled with various other creepy pasta characters) to play Uno together.
Story[]
Background[]
Initially, Hypno used to resemble the original pokemon and happily lived with his trainer, Alexis. However, due to the relentless bullying she received from others, she one day committed suicide by jumping off of a bridge. (yikes!) Many onlookers in the area noticed this, but rather than feeling pity for the girl, they cruelly laughed at her fate. Hypno witnessed the act and, enraged by how heartless the humans around him were acting, mutated and gained an animosity for humanity as a whole. He would then take his revenge by luring unsuspecting trainers into the woods where they would never be seen again.
Safety Lullaby[]
One night, he hypnotized and captured a small man going by the name of Boyfriend. His Girlfriend, worried for his well being, went outside to look for him. During her search, she unfortunately encounters Hypno, who intends for her to be his next victim as he lies and offers to take her to him. Not believing his words, GF chooses to rap against the deranged pokemon. Multiple times the latter tries to hypnotize her into coming with him, but due to her demonic nature and overall stupidity, she is able to shrug the hypnosis off as she faces him.
Left Unchecked[]
Hypno eventually admits he lied and has captured Boyfriend and intends to do the same to her. After GF surpasses him in the first song, Hypno grows more aggressive and converts his psychic powers into his pendulum, causing his body to drop to the ground and his head to float in midair. He continues to fight against Girlfriend and, despite the latter putting up a good fight, Hypno unleashes a barrage of Psyshocks, finally rendering her into a trance. He then proceeds to drag her out into the woods and to an unknown location.
Lost Cause[]
Eventually, Girlfriend breaks free from her hypnosis and finds Boyfriend, who is unfortunately is still under a trance. After attempting to slap him awake, she is discovered by Hypno, who's body is spewing out a mountain of his own organs and bones. Enraged that she keeps continuing to put up a fight, he once again raps against the small woman. While she was able to best him a third time, the deranged pokemon detaches his head from his body and charges at her. While what happens next isn't seen, it is confirmed by Banbuds that Hypno killed Girlfriend and Boyfriend offscreen.
Pasta Night[]
At some unknown point, Hypno would meet monstrous entities Lord X and MX, and he would become close friends with the two.[1] One night, the three of them go out to a bar and decide to play a game of UNO, where Hypno and MX try to cheat to win, but in the end, Lord X was the winner.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Hypno featured in the mod is based on the one from the creepypasta, Hypno's Lullaby.
- During the first song, Hypno can speak in sentences despite having his mouth covered with his skin (not to mention that Pokemon can't actually talk). During the second and third songs, he can only make the sound Hypno makes in the Pokémon games.
- He is one of the few villains from a FNF mod who's managed to succeed in killing Boyfriend and Girlfriend.
- Before it was disconfirmed by Bandbuds, many people jokingly thought he was run over by a car in Left Unchecked.
- Hypno monstrous tendencies of kidnapping and killing started out as a result of vengeance for his trainer, as well as due to his trainer, Alexis, being his main source of food due to her willingly letting him eat her nightmares; leading to a situation of killing two birds with one stone.
- Hypno makes a guest appearance in the first cutscene of Mario's Madness.
- Boyfriend was hanging out with Nene, Darnell, Pico and Cassandra before Hypno kidnaps him.
- The only one who noticed he was missing was Pico, who searched for him and GF in the abandoned Pokemon Center in the background of Safety Lullaby and Left Unchecked, only run into and be killed by Purin the Jigglypuff.
