The Immortal Snail is the titular main antagonist of the Immoral Snail series of memes.
It is a snail granted immortality that stalks it victims for eternity, unless it comes into contact with them, in which case it will kill them instantly.

Origins[]
The meme originated from a Reddit post posing the following scenario: "You and a super intelligent snail both get 1 million dollars, and you both become immortal, however you die if the snail touches you. It always knows where you are and slowly crawls toward you. What's your plan?"
The meme skyrocketed into popularity in late 2021 and early 2022, and every now and again resurfaces (presumedly as the snail reaches closer to its next victim).
Lore[]
Given the enigmatic nature of the Immortal Snail and how it's guaranteed to follow its victims till the end of time, there's been a lot of original lore surrounding the creature. In many memes, the creature is portrayed as having some form of sentience, being fully aware of its mission and even being affable and forgiving to the victim who accepts the proposal.
In other memes, the snail is characterized as a ruthless predator who will stalk its victim till the end of time with no remorse for their death if it comes into contact with them.
Sometimes, the Snail is depicted as having powers such as super strength and teleportation, with the reasoning behind it being that the snail must possess some form of supernatural abilities in order to hunt down and eliminate its target. This adds a fear factor to the creature, making it out to be more akin to a horror movie mascot or monster rather than a typical snail,
Many memes focus on and highlight the morbidity of the concept; the idea of surviving till the end of time, only accompanied by a single snail. In one of the most popular versions of the meme, two soldiers (meant to represent the Snail and its target) hold one another at gunpoint before recognizing each other as the last surviving beings on Earth during the end of the world, and thus declaring a ceasefire.
