Loyal. Never, will I stop... No matter what, I serve the king. Whatever he orders me to do, I will carry out without hesitation!
„
~ Ironwall.
Ironwall is a major antagonist in Crystallic’s Starbound Trilogy. He serves as an unseen overarching antagonist in Starbound: The Black Nebula and Starbound: Rise of the Stargazers, and one of the two secondary antagonists of Starbound: The Glitch Empire. He is King Stormlance’s right hand and the royal guard of the Glitch Empire. He was once an ordinary civilian who was killed, until Stormlance revived him and rewrote his programming into being his royal guard. He is a ruthless knight who carries out every order given to him, no matter how awful. However, after Stormlance’s death, Ironwall redeemed himself and went on to live a normal life.
Ironwall is completely loyal and dedicated to Stormlance. Due to his programming, he will carry out any order given to him, no matter how bad it is. He is also shown to be loyal to Moonquill, treating her well at any given opportunity and helping her out. He did stop serving Moonquill after her betrayal and even asked Stormlance if he should arrest her, showing that his loyalty to her was likely because Stormlance told him to. Ironwall doesn’t really think of himself at all, until Stormlance’s death, where he redeemed himself and went to live his own life, showing an interest in acting.
He is a ruthless individual. He’s willing to kill dozens of people if ordered, and is shown to be formidable during combat, acting quite smug and arrogant. He’s shown to be hot headed with enemies, getting furious at the Black Nebula for speaking against him and Moonquill. He’s also quite rude to them, telling them to fuck off when they ask to lose their handcuffs. Surprisingly enough, he is capable of thinking on his own, as when he suggested to commit genocide on all protectors in the universe, showing he helps out and doesn’t only take orders. He genuinely shows compassion for Stormlance when he feels upset, showing he’s not just a mindless machine.
Villainous Acts[]
He’s willing to carry out any of Stormlance’s orders, no matter how horrible they are.
He helped Stormlance usurp a kingdom and reprogram it.
He helped Stormlance conquer dozens of star systems on his orders, personally leading multiple invasions himself, including Nightheart’s home planet. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
He would often kill civilians of planets he invaded to cut down the population.
He imprisoned the Black Nebula and Azima, cuffing them even inside their cells, and giving them death threats.
He and Kleriya tried to capture both the Black Nebula and Azima’s Crew after they escaped.
He lead the takeover on Solunar Nexus II, trying to kill Ethyl and Tetra, and also some innocent civilians.
He tried to kill Moonquill when she fled.
He suggested to Stormlance that he should commit genocide on all protectors in the universe, no matter how old or young. The protectorate is a large organisation consisting of millions of members, which dedicates to helping and protecting people. This suggestion was not just an act of killing millions, but also stopping people from being protected, causing lots of indirect endangerment as well, which he likely knew but didn’t care. (MORAL EVENT HORIZON)
He helped defend Stormlance in the climax, trying to kill Ludvig, Zaura, Robin, Lexie, Mark, Tori and Tetra. He was aware of Stormlance’s plan to commit nigh-omnicide, but he didn’t care and helped defend him anyways.
Quotes[]
“
Satisfied. That's one village here down... Soon enough, I'll have this entire planet under control of the Glitch Empire. Then, the star system! Invasions take time, but in the end, it's all worth it! Now, onto the next settlements!
„
~ Ironwall after capturing Nightheart’s village.
“
Stern. Do not speak foul to the princess, you filthy outlaw.
„
~ Ironwall to Ethyl.
“
Proud. Your father is proud, and so am I. I will take these prisoners to those cells now, if you want to, there are some treats in a box near your throne.
„
~ Ironwall praising Moonquill.

„
~ Ironwall swearing he will always obey Stormlance.
“
Furious. ENOUGH! I'M DONE WITH THIS! YOU TWO, YOU THINK YOUR SO RIGHTEOUS... WELL NO! YOUR NOT! Stormlance is right, and your just criminals! He ordered me to bring you in alive... I'm tempted to disobey an order for once! He'll have captured several others anyways...
„
~ Ironwall to Ethyl and Tetra.
“
Confused. Moonquill, why would you do this?! Sir, should I-
„
~ Ironwall shocked at Moonquill’s betrayal.
“
Upset. I'm upset that she's left us, too... (Stormlance: Remorseful. I tried teaching her, maybe I should've been more honest instead of being paranoid! Or maybe chipped her better... Or maybe not chipped her at all! I just... I tried to hard, I showed her all the love, gave her what she wanted... ) Reassuring. If we catch her, I'll try to get her back.
„
~ Ironwall promising to Stormlance that he will try and get Moonquill back on their side.
“
Confused. Where am I, who am I? (Stormlance: Reassuring. Hey, you got hurt pretty badly... Your name is Ironwall, you are my loyal knight.) Reflective. I know now! Our kingdom got destroyed...
„
~ Ironwall’s awakening hundreds of years ago.
“
Serious. Sir, I have a suggestion. You don't have to choose it, but it's an idea I have. So, the protectors won't stop growing... How about we limit their growth? A full on attack on their base won't work, as we don't know where it is. So, how about we limit their options (Stormlance: Interested. Go on...) I suggest that we go across the entire universe, find everyone who is either a protector, or was a member of the protectorate, hunt them down... and kill them!
„
~ Ironwall suggesting Stormlance to commit genocide on the protectors.
“
Informative. Tested the armour, tested everything except the rocket itself, but missiles launch fine! The AI works too. It's perfect and ready to go. Confused. WAIT, WHAT ARE YOU USING IT FOR?!
„
~ Ironwall about the backup plan.

“
Upset. I failed, I'm sorry...
„
~ Ironwall after being stabbed by Tori.
“
Honest. Oh, I respect him, I really do... Even though I didn't come, it's because I feel like I had no right. I fought against him for the war, and I only still live because Ludvig was merciful. I don't remember my past life, all I know is that Stormlance fabricated me as his royal guard. But now that he's gone, and your the queen... Now what do I do with my life? Should I pay?
„
~ A reformed Ironwall respecting Ethyl and asking Moonquill how he should pay for his sins.
“
Loyal. Yes, your majesty... Oh, sorry, old habits slipping in! Anyways... Your right. I need to live my own life. Maybe I could become an actor... Well, if we ever meet again, I'll be happy to see you and the others. Goodbye.
Ironwall is a sturdy glitch who looks around 30, although he is actually way older. He has a light grey paint job, orange eyes and a helmet-like add on with some metal pipes. He wears strong iron armour.
