Are you taking me back?
~ Jack's catchphrase
I hate you, Uncle Arthur!
~ Jack's motivation

Jack Marston is the main antagonist of the Wacky West duology by BedBananas. He serves as a minor character in Red Dead Redemption 2: The Wild Wacky West and the main antagonist of Red Dead Redemption 2: The MODDED Wacky West.

Seemingly a normal child, Jack unveils his nigh-limitless power after being abused and abandoned by Arthur Morgan. He puts Arthur through a realm of nightmarish torment as an act of revenge, controlling an army of Lennnies and using other unholy powers to make Arthur suffer as much as possible.

He is portrayed by Marissa Buccianti.

Personality[]

At first, Jack acts how he usually does. He's an innocent child who only wants to spend time and have fun with his father figure, Arthur. He reacts with sadness when Arthur abuses him, but still chases after him due to his love for him. However, all of this quickly changes once Arthur abandons him at the river for the second time.

Jack is full of hatred fueled by his vendetta against Arthur. He shows little to no emotion as he beats Arthur senseless, sends his Lennies after him, and uses his powers torment him. He also shows signs of sadism, talking about how much fun he's having while hurting Arthur and taunting him when he attacks him in St. Denis. He's completely willing to corrupt and mold the world in whatever way he sees fit, just to get back at Arthur.

Jack maintains some of his childlike qualities, even while reshaping the world. He seems to be treating the whole thing like a game, stating that he's having fun. It's also possible that he created the valley of strangely majestic, giant animals out of a sense of creativity. However, it's unclear how many events are directly controlled by Jack or just a product of the insane world he made.

Despite everything, Jack appears to genuinely care about Arthur to some degree. Once he feels like he's gone through enough, Jack releases Arthur from his torment and grants him a chance at redemption. However, this is questionable considering Athur gets hit by some coaches immediately afterwards.

Biography[]

Red Dead Redemption 2: The Wild Wacky West[]

Jack is first seen when Arthur is staring at him silently. He asks if he did anything wrong and Arthur says that he's only joking, only to immediately walk off a cliff. Jack starts to have more importance in Chapter Two: Teach the Boah to Fish.

Arthur asks Jack if he'd like to go fishing with him, to which the child agrees. After a few horseback-riding mishaps, the pair heads to the river and begins to fish. However, Arthur harasses Jack by hitting him in the head with a fishing rod and eating the flower he was picking. As they walk away from the river, Arthur begins to run away from Jack. The boy tries to follow Arthur, but he just keeps running away. Eventually, Arthur runs across the river to where Jack can't follow him, abandoning Jack as he escapes in the wilderness.

Eventually, after a long adventure, Arthur returns to the river where he left Jack. Sure enough, Jack appears behind Arthur and once again asks if he's taking him back, accompanied by ominous music. Arthur then runs away, abandoning him once again as the screen fades to white.

Red Dead Redemption 2: The MODDED Wacky West[]

Chapter 1: The Changing World[]

The video starts off normally enough with Arthur falling from the sky in a carriage and screaming. The outlaw promptly does many fun things around town, including assaulting people, stealing a carriage to wreck structures and people alike at unnatural speeds, rowing a boat off of someone's roof, looking for Lenny, and eating some berries and turning into a parrot, all while the House Building Theme plays in the background. Things are generally looking up for Arthur as he enjoys his life to the fullest.

However, his joy is quickly cut short when he makes the mistake of entering a saloon and calling out for Lenny. He finds Lenny, and another Lenny, and another, and another as it's revealed that every single patron of the saloon is a clone of Lenny. The dozens of Lennies all stare at Arthur and yell at him aggressively as they approach him with weapons drawn. Arthur makes a break for it and the Lennies chase after him. They appear to be everywhere in the area, not just in the saloon, since some are seen falling from buildings or driving carriages,

Arthur crosses a bridge in an attempt to escape the Lennies, but a few more appear in front of him, cutting him off. Jack then walks up to Arthur on the other side of the bridge, and he immediately realizes that the child is the leader of the Lennies. Arthur tries to escape, but Jack runs up behind him and grapples him, allowing he and his henchmen to beat Arthur up. Arthur tries to run away, but Jack lassos him and proceeds to slam him on the bridge twice before swinging him off the bridge into the river below. Arthur falls from a waterfall and is then telekinetically flung from one side of the canyon to the other, which knocks him out. When Arthur wakes up, he is pulled out of the river by Dutch who rides with him on tiny horses through a valley of giant animals towards St. Denis.

Chapter 2: City of Sinners[]

As soon as the pair enters the city of St. Denis, it's obvious that Jack's influence as infected the area with the dark lighting and strange occupants. Dutch rides off to do something while Arthur stays behind and looks around. He is approached by a crazy lady holding a lantern who screams that she'll "have [Arthur's] eyes first." As soon as she says that, a huge glob of horses and carriages appears and chases after him. Arthur tries to run the other way but another glob appears. He turns and sees a giant albino alligator charging at him, which he narrowly dodges.

After running a bit more and having a few strange encounters, Arthur busts into a saloon for safety. The building is filled with strange but peaceful people such as two-headed skeletons, night-folk, Reverend Swanson. Arthur orders a bath from the robotic bartender and goes up the stairs to take his bath (briefly getting attacked by a lion in the process). After his bath (in which the woman bathing him got killed by a bear), Arthur leaves the room and is greeted by an alarm sounding with red lights flashing. He goes downstairs to investigate and finds that all of the patrons have disappeared.

Arthur leaves the building and looks up, revealing Jack has grown into a giant form that ominously looms over the city. The Lennies reappear and chase after Arthur. He runs away from them but ends up in a dead-end. Thankfully, Dutch appears and lassos Arthur by the feet to drag him onto the rooftops. Arthur and Dutch run away from the Lennies, hopping from rooftop to rooftop and clipping through a building at one point. The pair manage to escape St. Denis by using unusually fast hot-air balloons.

Chapter 3: Untamed American Ballons[]

Arthur and Dutch use the hot-air balloons to fly away from St. Denis, passing my many monstrously huge animals as they do so. Eventually, Arthur passes through a cloud and comes to find that he's very high in the sky with everything else seeming very small down below. It's a serene moment; a short break from the chaos that's been unfolding. Dutch appears and says that he and Arthur are going to sail to Tahiti, and the two then start to fly away.

However, the clouds surrounding suddenly become dark, accompanied by thunder and lightning. Arthur is unnerved by this and starts to look around worriedly. He turns around, revealing the colossal form of Jack staring at them blankly through the clouds. Jacks some boats onto Arthur's balloon, causing him to fall off. Arthur screams as he plummets into a tunnel with a bright light at the end of it.

Before Arthur hits the ground, he wakes up on the ground atop a mountain. He looks around and notices Jack approaching him from behind him, causing him to run away. However, he stops before he makes it very far, electing to turn around instead. He walks up to Jack and asks the boy if he wants to go fishing. Jack happily agrees and the two of them head off to the river where they originally planned to fish together. The two then prepare to fish together, finally reconciling with one another.

Arthur is then promptly hit by a flying carriage and the video ends.

Trivia[]

  • The ending of the video is seen as strange by some viewers, leading to multiple interpretations:
    • Jack saying "Cheese?" right before Arthur gets hit by the flying carriage could imply that he did that because he didn't like Arthur's choice of bait.
    • The second video begins with Arthur falling from the sky in a carriage and the video ends with him getting hit by a carriage from the sky. This could imply that Arthur is stuck in a time loop, presumably created by Jack.
      • This could further be interpreted as Arthur being in Hell from getting the low honor ending, with the outlaw being tormented by things from his life.
    • Many people have commented how the second video feels like a dream, so both videos could be a nightmare that Arthur is having. All of the things that he's worried about (regrets about being an outlaw, uncertainty about going along with Dutch's plans, worries that Jack might end up becoming a criminal, ect.) manifest through the things that he encounters in both adventures.
