Jeffrey Woods, a.k.a. Jeff The Killer, is the main protagonist of the Creepypasta Expanded Universe. He was a normal but troubled teenage that is turned into a disfigured serial killer who kills or tortures anyone who made him into the killer that he is or simply targets those that don't go to sleep and always tells them to "Go to Sleep." He is the younger brother of Homicidal Liu, the childhood friend turned former arch-enemy turned love-interest of Jane the Killer, and the former arch-rival turned right-hand man of the Slender Man.
Roles[]
He is the titular main protagonist of the 2006 Creepypasta horror film of the same name, the main antagonist of the 2008 sequel Homicidal Liu, the overarching antagonist of the 2010 threequel Jane the Killer, one of the main characters of the 2011 anthology horror film Tales of Creepypasta where he served as the main protagonist of the 2nd segment "Go to Sleep", the titular main protagonist of 2012 crossover horror comedy film Jeff v. Slender: Creepypasta, and the main deuteragonist of the 2013 crossover action-comedy film Creepypasta: Proxy War.
He is played by Joe Keery, who also plays Andrew McCann in Scream Queens and Kurt Kunkle in Spree, and played by Jack Griffo as a child.
Personality[]
As Jeffrey Woods, he was a kind-hearted and nervous 13-year-old who loved his younger brother Liu and his neighbor Jane while still trying to defend his ungrateful older sister Hollie from her unfaithful ex Damien and saved children from his bullies.
As Jeff the Killer, he becomes a deranged, cold-blooded, and remorseless psychopath who kills his own parents and goes on a killing spree.
However, he does have remorse for what he turned into and still loves Liu and Jane, even if they were against him. He also chooses to not kill Barbara and Billy because they're still kind to him and show sympathy for him.
After reconciling with Liu and Jane, he's trying his best to become a normal again and vowing to not kill again but is unable to control his dark personality.
Early Life[]
He was born Jeffrey Woods to Peter and Margaret Woods. However, he was neglected by his mother and his ungrateful older sister his whole life but only his father Peter and older brother Liu loved him and were proud always there for him, making them the only ones that Jeffrey cared about. He also befriended Jane Arkenshaw and had a mutual attraction to her.
One day, he caught Hollie's abusive and unfaithful boyfriend Damien cheating on her without any care and he tried to confront him but the horrible teenager beat him up until Jane and the teachers stopped it. However, he got a second personality called "Jeff", who wanted Jeffrey to make Damien "Go to Sleep." After recovering, his mother scolded him for the fight instead of being worried for him but his father at least was worried for him and angered at Damien for beating Jeffrey.
Jeff the Killer (2006)[]
3 years later, a 13-year-old Jeffrey Woods moved to a new town with his family but does reunite with Jane and is happy to see her again.
The next day, Jeff and Liu were walking to the bus station to go to school but then get confronted by the three bullies Randy, Keith, and Troy, who ask for a tax. Liu tries to stand up to them but Randy pulls out a knife and threatens them. However, Jeffrey snaps and brutally beats them, much to Liu's shock. He then grabbed Liu's hand and they run away from the scene.
At school, they promised each other to never bring it up but Jeffrey starts having that feeling again only to brush it off. He tries to talk with Jane but she reveals that she saw what he did and calls him a psycho, despite that she also hated Randy, Keith, and Troy for their crimes. Heartbroken by her words, Jeffrey just walks away from her.
At home, they get visited by the police, who've come to arrest one of them and ignore their attempts to explain what really happened. Jeffrey was about to turn himself in but Liu defends him and takes the blame for the incident. Jeffrey watches in despair as his brother is arrested for a crime he didn't commit and starts chasing after the police car while tearfully shouting that it wasn't Liu as their parents stop him and try to calm him down, claiming that Liu is paying for what he did. However, Jeffrey angrily declares that he hates them and blames them as the reason why he only interacts with Liu.
At school and at home, Jeffrey suffers depression over how his brother was sent to juvie and how the bullies got away with it but then his parents offered to have him go to a neighbor's birthday party and offered him a white hoodie to wear there.
At the party, he was still feeling down from Liu's wrongful arrest but then a kid asked him to play with him and his friends. At first, Jeff refused but then relented upon seeing the kid's look. However, he became happy and started having fun with the kids as Jane laughed at this but then Randy, Keith, and Troy crash the party and started trashing the tables. Jane and the kids got worried at that but Jeff gestured for them to stay behind him and he angrily wanted the bullies to leave because he already punished them and they already got Liu in trouble for it. However, they refused to leave and Randy angrily tells him he doesn't get even but instead wins and starts getting in a fight with Jeffrey, attracting the attention of the party. Before anyone could stop it, Randy pulls out a knife while Keith and Troy pull out guns, threatening anyone who tries to intervene. As Randy keeps beating and scratching Jeffrey while hitting him with a bottle of vodka, he goes too far by pointing out how he's the one who got Liu sent to juvie and how Jeff is letting Liu down while claiming he should be ashamed of himself, which the witnesses overheard and were shocked that Jeff was telling the truth. As Randy evily laughs at his confession, Jeffrey snaps and punches Randy in the throat and head, causing Randy to land on the ground headfirst and die instantly of head trauma and a broken neck. Angered by their leader's death, Keith and Troy start shooting at Jeffrey but he manages to flee and shouts for everyone to run as they do run.
Inside the house, Jeffrey barricades the back door and tells the guests that they should run somewhere else and call 911. Jane claims that they can't leave him but he tells her that he'll be fine and still tells them to go get help. Before leaving, Jane gives Jeffrey a kiss for good luck as the barricade is breaking down. The guests then leave as Jeffrey starts hiding.
In the bathroom, Jeffrey finds a towel rack and tears it off the wall and when the two bullies break in, he whacks Troy in the head with it, killing him. An angry Keith gets in a tussle with him until they both get covered in bleach. As they wince and groan in pain, Jeffrey manages to wipe the chemicals out of his eyes and strikes Keith in the head as well, mortally wounding him. However, Keith just laughs and points out that Jeffrey is covered in alcohol and bleach before setting him on fire with a lighter. As Jeffrey screams in pain, he manages to get Keith caught on fire as well and the bully also screams in pain but everyone manages to extinguish the flames. Jeffrey survives but Keith has died from the flames. However, his mind has been permanently snapped.
At the hospital, Jeffrey is covered in bandages and is visited by his parents and a recently released Liu but when the bandages are removed, the family looks horrified. Getting worried, he looks in the mirror and finds that his appearance has changed. His hair is now black and his skin has turned pale bleached white. However, he goes crazy and loves his new look, much to his family's worry. The doctor doesn't see anything wrong and brushes this off as being from painkillers. They then Jeffrey home.
At home, the mother Margaret hears noises in the bathroom and goes to check but is horrified to find her son carving a smile on his face and burning his eyelids. He then asks his mother if he looks beautiful and she lies by claiming that he does look beautiful but then goes back to her bedroom to ask her husband for the gun. However, Jeff hears this and is heartbroken by his mother lying to him and trying to kill him. He then angrily snaps and kills his parents by gutting them. Liu hears the noise but tries to go back to sleep. However, Jeffrey appears and covers Liu's mouth before telling him to "Go To Sleep." Liu tries fighting him off but the struggle ends with Jeffrey accidentally stabbing Liu in the chest, seemingly killing him. A remorseful Jeffrey tearfully cradles his brother's body and begs him not to leave him. He then closes his brother's eyes and kisses the top of his head before then putting on his white hoodie and starts becoming "Jeff the Killer."
While walking on the street, he then notices Hollie and Damien making out on a bench and having ignored every calls about his recovery because they don't care about him and wish he could disappear. Heartbroken and angered by his abusive sister, he knocks both of them out and kidnaps them.
In the basement, they wake up and are tied to the wall with their mouths gagged by cleaves. They then see Jeff appear and he shows the motive. Hollie finally confirms that she could care less for Jeff and wished that he had died in that fire but then gets shocked when he reveals a video Damien cheating on her. Realizing that he was telling the truth, she then starts tearfully apologizing for how she treated him and promises to be a happy family with him and Liu but he doesn't forgive her and angrily disowns her for ungratefulness. Damien threatens to kill Jeff for this but Hollie angrily dumps Damien for turning her against her brother. Jeff decides to torture Damien first by carving a smile on his face. He then goes to Hollie next but she accepts her fate and tells Jeff that she still loves him. He then carves the smile on her face as well. After being done, he then starts leaving them to die of blood loss and starvation but first tells them to "Go to Sleep" as he closes the doors on them and they scream for someone to help them.
At Jane's house, he visits it but Jane and her parents heard about what he did and start preparing to take him down. Feeling betrayed, he decides to make Jane an orphan. He cuts off the power and this spooks the family, making them realize he's there. Jane then starts trying to get him to surrender peacefully but he claims that he heard everything and thought they had something special. Jane tries to assure him that she does love him but he doesn't believe her and accuses her of being a liar who is like everyone else. He then declares that if he can't be happy, no one can. He then manages to kill her parents and starts coming after her until she supposedly kills by shooting him in the chest. As she kneels over him and cries about shooting him, he wakes up and knocks her out.
When she wakes up, she is taped to a chair and her mouth is taped shut. She then sees the corpses of her parents and Jeff's parents along with a passed out Liu. She then screams in horror but her screams are muffled before Jeff shows up and greets her. He wanted to wish her a happy birthday by inviting the victims to the party. However, he does declare that he still loves her and decides to give her a game where she can win fairly by escaping a fire that will destroy the house but she is fortunately tied to a wooden chair and could have hope of escaping. He then has her promise that if she does escape, she'll get Liu out. He then tells her that this is goodbye and hopes that they can meet again pretty soon while missing all the good times they had before kissing her gagged lips, which she tearfully returned. He then says adios to her and starts leaving.
Outside, he takes out a lighter and throws it on the soaked floor inside the house, setting it on fire. He then waits in the family car as he heard Jane scream for help but hears the chair breaking and then watches as the untied and now bald Jane carries Liu with her out of the burning house and kneeling on the grass in pain. He then shares a last look with her and blows a kissing before waving goodbye, reminding her to "Go to Sleep" and starts driving off laughing as Jane screams in misery.
The next morning, all units of 911 start dousing the fire, taking Liu and Jane to the hospital, and investigating the crime scenes while news reporters talk about what happened as the film ends with Jeff now becoming an urban legend and gaining a cult but at the cost of his friends and family, which he starts remembering and sheds a tear at what he's become.
In the mid-credits, he delivers an apology gift to Jane in the hospital and it's a white mask and black wig to help her with her new look. However, Liu finally wakes up and angrily attacks a nurse for calling Jeff a monster as Jane looks on in horror. As the doctors and nurses restrain him, he demands to know where Jeff is. Outside the room, a disguised Jeff is last seen walking down the hall and leaving the hospital as more doctors and nurses start running into the room.
Slender (2007)[]
He doesn't appear in the found-footage film at all but is briefly seen on one of the wanted posters, showing how famous he's becoming and how feared he is by everyone.
However, Lauren did mistake The Chaser for him due to slightly similar appearance but it turned out to be Kate, who got turned into a proxy and the appearance was most likely inspired by Jeff instead.
Homicidal Liu (2008)[]
2 months during his rampage, he encountered a bullied girl named Nina Hopkins and saves her from bullies by killing the bullies. Upon seeing that she's just like him, he decides to turn her into him by setting her on fire with bleach, alcohol, and lighter, which she fortunately survived. He was also the one who called an ambulance for her just in case if she died.
After she recovered, she turns crazy from having the similar disfigurement and ends up carving a smile on her face. She also ended up killing her mother and leaving her younger brother Chris to be injured before she left the house and gets picked up by Jeff as his 2nd-in-command. However, her father Captain James Hopkins develops a grudge from this incident and turns into a vengeful vigilante.
At a crime meeting, Jeff interrupts it and decides to take over a crime business. However, the other criminals mock him but he manages to show them their true place when he kills one of their own and has Nina show explosives. They are intimidated by this but are angry at him for daring to challenge them. Jeff then decides a better option and attacks them with his crew. He then kills Boss Copperbottom by carving a smile on his mouth and burning his eyelids after sadistically telling him to go to sleep and then evily laughs when he does the whole thing.
After Copperbottom's body is found, Jeff finds out that Liu escaped from an institute and thinks it's time for a family reunion.
During Liu's vigilantism, Jeff decided to make his move by targeting a group of red necks that have been bothering Liu and brutally killed that group. This got Liu's attention and he was ready to face Jeff.
At Jeff's hideout, Liu arrives and Jeff has his cult leave but does let Nina deal with Lyra outside the hideout. He offers Liu a chance to join him but gets disappointed when he says no and claims that if he's not with him, then they are enemies. Liu then takes out his weapon and so does Jeff before they reluctantly fight each other in a final battle.
However, Captain Hopkins arrives and points the gun at both of them. Liu tries to explain but the captain refuses to listen and wants them to suffer like his family did. As Liu tries to approach him calmly, he freaks out and shoots him non-lethally. An enraged Jeff freaks out and brutally stabs and slashes the captain to death. After being done, Liu recovers and reluctantly pushes Jeff onto a sharp fence.
As Jeff is injured on it, Liu can easily kill him but decides not to and still loves him as his brother. Jeff then cries at hearing this and Liu holds his hand in comfort but then they hear the police coming. However, Liu decides that this is a better punishment for Jeff and leaves as the police surround Jeff and arrest him.
However, Nina found her father's corpse and angrily turns against Jeff, who now regrets this.
He is sentenced to the mental institution.
Slender: The Arrival[]
Again, Jeff doesn't appear to still being in the mental institution but a poster of him is shown in Dylan Mitchell's room, despite that he himself disliked her for her true nature.
Jane The Killer[]
Unlike the other stories, Jeff doesn't serve as Jane's main antagonist this time but instead, he's still serving his sentence and is not seen yet until the end.
In the mental institution, Jane finally confronts him and is about to kill him for his crimes which he allows out of guilt for what he did to her but then notices that he still kept her necklace and finally finding out why he snapped into insanity.
Realizing that he wasn't always a monster and that he felt guilt for what he did to her, she kisses his cheek and tearfully forgives him for what he has done, driving him to tears as well.
After making amends, she also realizes that she was being no better than him and agrees to stop what she's doing, meaning that Jeff slightly caused her to redeem into a better person.
Tales of Creepypasta[]
In the 2nd segment "Go To Sleep," Jeff seems to be out of the mental institution and on a killing spree again but it's then confirmed this takes place in 2007 before his arrest.
His younger friend Billy is being hunted down by Robby, Kevin, and Trey, 3 new bullies that Billy was standing up to earlier.
When the bullies corner Billy in an alleyway, Jeff had followed them to the alleyway and killed the goons first one by one, deciding to save his old pal.
After dealing with the other bullies, Jeff then takes down Robby and sadistically tells him to Go To Sleep before carving a smile on him, as Billy watches on in gratitude and ignoring the blood splattering on him.
Fortunately, Billy didn't get framed for this incident since the police already knew this was Jeff's work and they saw Jeff's signature catchphrase on the wall, which was written in blood.
If this took place after his arrest, Jeff would be 18 years old during this and him targeting the bullies might've also been due to their similarities to Randy, Keith, and Troy, who Jeff still hates the most.
Jeff V. Slenderman: Creepypasta[]
After years in the mental institution, a now 19-year-old Jeff is managing to finally get out of there after hearing about the Slender Man and sees him as a threat in his way.
More coming soon.

Trivia[]
- Just like Slenderman, Jeff is also the mascot for the entire franchise.
- Jeffrey was still the protagonist of the first film because of his good personality, his tragic past, and the film still centered around him. However, Jeff the Killer became the main antagonist of the second film because he kills people without any remorse. This makes Liu and Jane become the protagonists because they are the only ones who can stop them.
