Why? Because you ruined everything, Liu. You just had to survive that night, didn't you? You just had to smell the fire. You just had to wake mom and dad. All those months of planning, ruined. It would've been perfect, Liu. We all could've died together, but NO. You and mom survived and I was stuck like this! Do you know what it's like to spend every single day TRAPPED in a shell of your own body? Being BABIED by the people you couldn't kill!? Do you understand how humiliating that is!? It's like there really is a god up there, mocking me for my failure. Well, I didn't plan on failing this time! I spent months thinking about that night, what I could've done differently, how much it hurt. Reliving that pain in the smallest of ways helped me figure it out though. It was going to be perfect, Liu, but you ruined it again. You just had to keep babying me. You just had to be such a shitty liar. You made me do this. You made me act early and sloppily! That's okay, though. This is still going to be the happiest day of my life. Oh, if I could smile right now, Liu, I'd be grinning ear to ear!...
~ Jeff's unhinged monologue to his brother Liu, revealing that he caused the fire that killed their father in an attempt to kill all of them.
Shhhhhh... It'll be alright, Liu... When you next wake up, we're gonna see mom and dad again... just go to sleep...
~ Jeff before attempting to kill Liu.

Jeffrey Woods, often abbreviated to Jeff, and also known as Jeff the Killer and the Ghost Stalker, is the titular main antagonist the 2024 rewrite of the Creepypasta of the same name.

Like his 2011 counterpart, he is a young man who becomes irreversibly burned and disfigured following a fire and gradually becomes a deranged serial killer after murdering his mother. Unlike his 2011 counterpart however, he is far more twisted and less tragic, instead being obsessed with finding and killing his brother Liu to complete his mission of killing his entire family before ending his own life.

He was voiced by the video's creator, Zachary Gignac, who also voiced his brother Liu in the same video.

Appearance[]

Jeffery has a pale appearance with a white hoody and is covered with scars from a fire. He has a twisted artificial grin that he carved into himself because we wanted to smile while killing his brother. His hair is singed and black, and his hoodie has 6 burns on it. One of his eyes is overly dilated.

Personality[]

It was then that I understood the true depths of what my brother was. As I sat mere feet away from my own mother's corpse, Jeff crouched overtop of me. It finally dawned on my why this was all happening. I had spent so long trying to pin a reason on it, to find what the inciting incident was—the moment that bent my brother's life out of shape. But there never was one. It wasn't the bullies, it wasn't our father, it wasn't the fire... it was Jeff. It was always Jeff. I was living with a monster wearing human skin for my whole life and only when it was too late did I finally realise it.
~ Liu recounting the moment he realised Jeff's depravity after the latter confessed to starting the fire that killed their father.

Jeff Woods is portrayed as a deranged and obsessive serial killer with a deeply petty nature. His personality is characterized by an all-consuming vendetta against his brother Liu, demonstrating a chilling blend of intelligence and ruthlessness. Jeff meticulously follows the police to Liu’s new residence, using his strategic acumen to track and eliminate individuals he mistakenly believes to be Liu. His methodical approach, including stalking and murdering his victims in their sleep, showcases his unwavering dedication to his goal and his meticulous, calculated nature.

Despite the outward appearance of a tragic backstory, Jeff’s past reveals a more sinister truth. The fire that devastated his family was instigated by Jeff himself, reflecting his capacity for cruelty and a readiness to inflict suffering on those around him. His behavior is driven not by genuine tragedy but by a petty and vindictive personality, marked by an obsessive need for revenge and a complete disregard for the lives he ruins. This deep-seated malice and cold, calculated cruelty culminate in his final confrontation with Liu, where Jeff’s true nature, shaped by spite and a thirst for retribution, is starkly revealed.

Biography[]

The Woods Family Homicide[]

Life was hard for the Woods family. In a single night, a fire had taken everything from them, their home, their possessions, even their father. Jeff survived the fire just barely, but he was never the same after. It took a while for the family to figure out what to do next. They couldn’t afford a home like the one they had before, at least not on their own. Thankfully, their aunt Marcy offered to give them a plot of land after everything that happened. She thought it was the least she could do after losing her brother.

On their first day there, the two boys' mother decided to give them some spending money to let them explore the new town. They spent the whole day riding around town. They didn’t care about where they were going, they were just wandering around. Unfortunately, that same day was when they had their first encounter with three bullies, Randy, Troy, and Keith.

They were causing a ruckus at the store, the cashier caught Randy shoplifting, and he didn’t take too well to being told off. Eventually though, Randy payed the 10 dollars and went outside with his friends. Afterwards, he called out to the two brothers, with his friends joining in. After a quick argument, Randy revealed his face, with all of the bullies being absolutely disgusted. Once they stopped their reactions of disgust, they continued to bully Jeff, which eventually lead to a full on fight. Thankfully though, Jeff and Liu weren't hurt.

A month later, the house was fully renovated, but things didn't get easier for Jeff. Randy and his gang were relentless, they were harassing Jeff constantly, yet Jeff wouldn’t let Liu tell anyone about the bullying, after all, Randy's dad was a police officer, and he didn't want to get him involved. A month later, Randy went missing, something that Troy and Keith handled horribly. Their harassment would become more and more ruthless, and they would call Jeff a murderer at every chance they got.

Things got so bad that Jeff started to completely isolate himself, missing countless days of classes and terrifying our mother. She tried to talk to him about it, but he was completely unresponsive, causing her to ask Liu for help. He went to Jeff's room one night when their mom had already gone to sleep, and pushed his door open just a crack to see if he was still awake, and that was when he heard Jeff mumble something under his breath...

“Why was dad the only one who had to die…”

After this, Liu couldn't take it, and immediately lashed out at Jeff, who attempted to explain himself as Liu yelled at him uncontrollably. After that though, Liu suggested that the two of them sneak out of the house. Sure, it was late at night, but he figured it would be a good change of pace. That night was one of the best nights of their lives, that was until it quickly took a turn for the worst. Troy and Keith came up to them just as they were about to get home. The two had knives with them, and quickly attacked them, eventually threatening Jeff enough to confess to his murder, something that Liu was shocked by.

The police were called just in time as it escalated to a fight to the death once again, but Liu defended Jeff, lying, something Jeff seemed almost unhappy about, once they got home, Jeff threw a tantrum, throwing things around his room with fury, but one of those things, was a metal knife. Liu asked Jeff why he had a knife that was supposedly Randy's, but it quickly became clear that it was Jeff's all along, and that he didn't get the scars from their bullying, no, he gave them to himself. Despite Liu's questioning, Jeff didn't answer, he just looked at him with an inhumane stare. Then, the boys' mother came in, but she didn't know what Liu knew, she just thought her son needed help, so she tried to help him, but just when she got close enough, Jeff jumped at her, pinning her to the floor and stabbing her with the knife he'd use to harm himself with. She begged for him to stop and asked why he was doing this, but no response was ever given.

Eventually, Margaret Woods, mother of Jeffrey and Liu Woods died of blood loss, when that happened, Jeff forcefully ripped the knife out of her throat. Just then, Liu had a revelation. His brother was always a monster, yet he only realized it when it was too late. Despite knowing what was going on, he still asked Jeff why he was doing this, something Jeff seemed offended by, beginning to rant on and on about his hate for Liu, his pain, and the act of arson that he committed. Then, he said something, something that gave him a horrible idea.

"Oh, if I could smile right now, Liu, I'd be grinning ear to ear!"

He looked down to the knife in his hand, blood still trickling off of it, then he glanced back at Liu before saying:

“I can smile...”

Then, he carved a horrific smile into his own face, something so horrible that Liu was broken out of his shocked, trance-like state. Liu sprinted across the hall to Jeff's room, thankfully, Jeff was to distracted by the sheer euphoria of his 'smile', which allowed Liu to get a head start, not long after though, Jeff gave chase, calling out Liu's name as he did so.

Liu looked around in the closet of Jeff's room, grabbing a box cutter in there, but when he turned back he saw Jeff standing there at the entrance of the closet. Liu let out a shrill scream as Jeff laughed to himself maniacally, flinging the door open and attempting to pin Liu to the ground. Thankfully, Liu managed to stab him in the side of the throat with the box cutter, allowing for him to make his escape while Jeff writhed in pain, but Liu couldn't see that, he just kept running away from the home. The police were called soon after, but they didn't find Jeff anywhere.

Jeff the Killer[]

After years of killing people who he believed to be Liu, he was finally able to see the real one again, and the police had led him right to Liu, Jeff could barely hold his excitement in the claustrophobic closet, he heard everything they said, attempting to hold in his anger whilst they talked about his failed crimes, something that fidgeting with his lighter helped with.

After hours of waiting, Liu finally went back to his room, attempting to sleep, but failing for hours, something was bugging him. Jeff got anxious, did he make too much noise? Did Liu know he was there? But it wasn't either of those things, it was the window. Jeff had left the window opened. Liu always had his closed, and just as Liu went to close it, he glanced at his closet, seeing Jeff's overly dilated eye staring back at him.

"You found me..."

Jeff said as he slowly crept out of Liu's closet, finally meeting his brother at eye level after all this time. The moment Liu saw Jeff, he ran as fast as he could, he flung his bedroom door opened and ran throughout the small apartment, with Jeff quickly giving chase. Just as Liu got to the kitchen island to retrieve the knife he'd accidentally left behind, Jeff grabbed him and turned him around at a nauseating speed, after which a struggle broke out between the two brothers. Liu put up a good fight, but Jeff was stronger, he always was stronger. And soon enough, he had his brother pinned down against the island.

Jeff laughed maniacally once again as Liu attempted to shove his brother off of him, just as Liu lost the energy to continue the struggle, Jeff pulled out the same box cutter that Liu stabbed him with all those years ago, but then he saw something, the shine of metal in Liu's hand. Jeff quickly realized that Liu had a knife in his hand and attempted to kill his brother as soon as possible, being sloppy and frantic with the box cutter, at that same time, Liu stabbed his brother in the same wound on his throat with a knife, afterwards, there was a long silence.

That day, only one of the two brothers walked away alive.

Trivia[]

  • At the end of the story, only one of the brothers made it out alive, it's theorized that Liu was the one who survived, as Jeff would have ended his own life upon killing Liu.
    • Later on, Pastra heavily hinted towards this being canon, stating that "The ending is one that I left largely up to interpretation, but it is also one where you can figure it out based on the context clues left throughout the entire story."
  • This version is more evil than most versions of Jeff The Killer to the point that he's considered by many to be the most evil version of the character ever.
  • Pastra confirmed that all the three stories from his failed victims reference the three main versions of him.
