Well, the police here would likely call it some sort of brutal home invasion by some kind of random murderer. At least someone with human motives like robbery, revenge, or probably passion. But I can assure you, Eleanor, this type of violence has been done to this family… it isn't the work of a human being.
~ Hiba Alaoui on Johanna Murphy

Johanna Murphy, known as The Shadow and The Boogeywoman, is the main antagonist of the upcoming slasher horror story titled October 31st and will appear at some point in the upcoming Beyond The Globe series.

She is a notorious serial killer who went on a rampage on Halloween night in 1997 after escaping from a mental institution to murder her sister Wren and newborn niece Daisy before she got trapped inside the house and the house exploded as Johanna was presumed to be dead before her 7-year return in October 31st story.

Biography[]

Background[]

On April 11th, 1976, Johanna Murphy was born to Murphy couples called Lindsey and Adam Murphy who lived in California, Los Angeles. 3 years later, Wren Murphy was born and they lived in a fairly good house. However, Johanna started to act odd and committed acts like the murder of animals, the disappearance of a rabbit, and others, while people and even her parents were unaware of. Lindsey later discussed with Adam about how she is concerned about Johanna’s behavior and bizarre/creepy things she is doing such as being indifferent to her surroundings or doesn't show emotions a lot, doesn't want to be a friend with anyone or around kids her age and most importantly, she was drawing things depicting death and people getting killed in gruesome ways which made the two worried and disturbed.

In 1989, Johanna committed a murder on an adult man and his dog, and was later imprisoned in an asylum for the murder, as it traumatized 4-year-old Eleanor in progress. 8 years later, Johanna escaped from there and stole a pair of clothes and a clown mask, where she headed towards Los Angeles to stalk and kill 6 people in one night, and then stalked Wren, who gave birth to Daisy, before she tried to kill her and her newborn baby. However, Fares arrived at time as he pulled out his gun and shot her a few times at the chest but it didn't do anything to flinch her, and Wren unleashed the gas inside the house before she escaped. Johanna tried to stab Fares before he threw a lighter, and the house exploded due to this. Fares managed to get out and Wren is safe now. However, Johanna's body disappeared completely.

Powers & Abilities[]

Powers[]

  • Superhuman Strength: Johanna possesses a significant amount of superhuman strength due to denser chemical bonds within her body and muscle fibers have more anaerobic glycolysis, which enables her to exert a force considerably greater than that of other humans and most enhanced humans. This enables her to easily knock down doors and casually being able to lift grown adults with one hand. She is capable of even snapping someone's arms, breaking their neck with ease, turning their heads into dough with one stomp, and crushing skulls with both hands or one foot.
  • Superhuman Durability: Johanna's stronger atomic bonds allows her body to be incredibly resistant to damages that would kill a normal human such as stabs, gunshots, mid-tier explosives and even the strongest handguns. When Fares encountered Johanna inside the house and shot her 7 times, he used a Smith & Wesson Model 500 on her and it didn't do anything to her, showcasing her incredible durability. However, it seems like her durability has limitations to a degree as her body and skin likely suffered from burns that the explosion caused but she was healed during a few years nonetheless.
  • Superhuman Endurance: Johanna can stalk and chase her victims for extended periods of time without collapsing like a normal person would thanks to her chemical processes generate less fatigue toxins or lactic acid in her body than normal humans. This also allows her to fight and move for extended periods of time without collapsing from an immense amount of exhaustion. Additionally, those chemical processes also generate less nociceptors which causes her to be mostly insensitive to physical pain.
  • Advanced Healing Factor: Because of a more efficient chemical processes involved in growth and repair, she can heal from wounds and injuries that would kill normal humans which its time may vary depending on the severity of injuries and energy cost. She was blown up inside the house and by the time of October 31st story after 7 years since this incident, her body and skin has been regenerated completely without forming any scar tissue. It's likely that she possesses an extremely potent immunity system that naturalizes uncontrolled cell divisions or suspicious cells that could bring tumors with them, allowing her to regenerate without getting cancer.

Trivia[]

  • She is inspired by one of the iconic slashers Michael Myers.
  • Hiba theorized that something likely may have happened to Johanna's mother while she was pregnant and this environment she was exposed to caused Johanna inside her womb to have superhuman abilities as a result of advanced genetics.
