John Al is a supporting character in the Road to Heaven franchise, serving as a major protagonist in the 2019 western animated fanseries Road to Heaven and a major antagonist in its sequel series Road to Heaven 2: Almost There.

He is a ruthless crime lord and the vengeful and treacherous leader of his own crew and he shall not rest until the enemies are all mutilated. However, despite his violence, he does have some honorable traits as he truly desires to protect his gang at all costs.

History[]

Road to Heaven[]

John Al was a crime lord and a mob boss who lead his crew to glory and promised each one of his men survival, no matter how evil or ruthless he was. However, he did shoot the ones who betrayed him or his gang. The Agency tried to find him through the protagonist Tom McCoinner, but Tom wouldn't give their merciless agent Jeff Byron any information about John and his loyalists. Because of this, Byron threatened to wipe the village off the map and kill all the outcasts.

As a result, John Al has planned to send Tom and Edward Milton to defeat The Agency and Agent Byron, and he ordered Edward to espionage on the Agency and find out who supplies them with weaponry. Edward eventually found out that The Agency were receiving the weapons from the rich businessman Roland Buston. He killed Buston, but later found out that Milton stole Buston's bombs which Agent Byron was going to use and he did so in order to bomb up houses and avenge his dead loved one Nancy.

John Al ran out of choices and eventually, he aided Tom during his fight against Milton. Edward Milton was killed, and Tom died of TB, thus leaving John Al with two crew members less.

Road to Heaven 2: Almost There[]

John Al and his entire crew face a threat; their archenemy Randall Smith begins to threaten them and they need more power and money in order to survive. To make matters worse, Darren Thompkins and his wife Gizelle grow tired of wasting their lives as outcasts, and they decide to abandon John's gang and start living a normal life far away from the crew. John gets frustrated about this, and announces to the crew that they are both traitors. He even tries to make excuses in front of Randall so he won't kill them all, and to offer Randall an alliance, but Randall refuses to make an alliance as he wages the war against both John Al and Darren Thompkins.

Later, Diego offers John Al a plan which could lead them to total glory, further power and more money for each and every of the crew members. Diego manipulates John into approving his plans, which are to manipulate the civil war and get new identities so they can live a normal life just like Darren and Gizelle. John accepts the plan, and even goes as far as aiding Diego and protecting him. However, unknowingly to John Al, Diego turned the crew all against him, and John wasn't respected by his loyalists anymore.

Diego tried to torture Darren and some other US civilians. However, Darren managed to escape, and John was immediately alerted. John then tried to shoot Darren for Diego's survival. Diego chased after John and eventually, John has reached the cliffside where he couldn't run further. Darren aimed a gun at John and asked him why he is doing this. John Al then throws his gun off the mountain, and explains to Darren that he had to keep his promise and protect the gang including Diego, who was secretly a traitor. However, Diego and the other crew members have then betrayed Al, as they've all shot him, and a shocked John Al fell off the mountain to his demise.

Personality[]

John's personality isn't really black or white. He is a ruthless gangster who doesn't mind using violence or aiding Diego in his torturing plans, but he does have a softer side, as he only wants to support his crew and assure that all his crew members survive and live well. He was also seen to be very kind and supportive towards Tom McCoinner. However, as time went by, he marked his hatred on anyone who would betray the gang, and he even went as far as killing Edward Milton for his betrayal. However, when Diego has betrayed him, he seemed to be very shocked as Diego was "like a son to him". Diego was the last dominant member of his gang to survive without betraying the crew, and therefore, John had feelings towards him.
