Dr. John Dee, also known as Dr. Dee, is the main antagonist the short film 24 Hour Diner, a fanfilm adaptation of the DC comic The Sandman, primarily its "Master of Dreams" storyline. Dee is a madman who used his ruby to hold an entire diner hostage and used his ruby to drive them insane by using their dark desires and secrets against them.
He is the fanfilm's adaptation of the "John Dee" Doctor Destiny and was played by Zack MacKendrick.
Biography[]
Dee in the fanfilm is seen at the corner seat of the Diner staring into his ruby, who was in the diner when . He asked the waitress, Bette Munroe, started her shift this morning. Dee was now forced to act, trying to prevent any of the costumers inside the diner from leaving. Dee uses his ruby to prevent Mark, one of the characters, from leaving by using the Ruby's power to mind control of Mark and later the rest of the cast.
Later, Dee asked Bette to turn on the television and used it to spy on Judy and her personal life. Then used his magic ruby to make a kids show into instructing the audience on how to commit suicide by slashing their wrists. In hour 7, Dee now starts to toy with the people in the diner by making them live in their deepest darkest desires or live inside their own dreams, while having Marsh think he is dead after making him think he drunk himself to death, something Dee almost took joy out of.
Hour 9 is when Dee decides to have the cast fight each other by having them reveal their true character. He has Marsh and Judy fight, having Mark reveal his true homophobia and have him punch Judy in the face. Then in hour 10 he makes the main cast worship him as a god and love him, making Mark cut one of his fingers for Dee to eat. The main cast chants Dee's name, calling him "Great and Wise and Wonderful Dee" and carries him under their shoulders. It was revealed on hour 11 that Dee's influence on the cast also now effected some parts of the world as well, with Dee watching the news with the brainwashed characters. A news reporter stated that people are going absolutely insane in a wave of madness, suicide, and bad dreams that there are accidents and disasters happening worldwide in parts of Asia and Europe with people also sleeping on freeways.
He makes the main characters, including Judy, to reveal their dark secrets in hour 12, secrets they don't want to tell to others. Hour 13, Dee has them to have an orgy with each other for him to see; Something he described as "neat". He consulted with the oracles (whom he used Judy, Bette, and Kate to be possessed by them) at sunset so that he could know about his future, with oracles telling him that he has no future and will go back to dust. This is something that makes Dee mad, forcing the oracles to tell him a future he wants to hear. He finally released their minds for a while on hour 15, revealing what he has been doing to them. When both Kate and Marsh demanded to know why he is doing this to them, he revealed that he is simply doing this just because he can. He later controlled their minds yet again, playing a murderous game of Marco Polo in the dark or as the narrator calls it "murder in the dark". Hour 17 is where he has the victims punish themselves by having them mutilate themselves, like having Marsh hammer himself on his hands and confession about his crimes.
He used the ruby to warped the victim's minds into acting like primitive beasts. Having them kill and eat each others like animals. He then tells them the story Snow White on hour 19, then on hour 20 he has Bett, Kate, and Judy sing a song for him. On hour 21, he has Judy stabs herself in the eye with knives and now has everyone on the diner commit suicide. When the Sandman starts to go the diner to stop Dee and take his ruby, Dee responded by sending evil creatures to kill the Sandman. When he confronts the Sandman, Dee's fate is left ambiguous as the scene now cuts to black.
Personality[]
Under his frail persona, Dee is a derange psychopath and a sadistic mind rapist, acting as a childish madman who delights in driving the hostages insane with their darkest thoughts for no reason other than he can. He uses his ruby to wreak havoc and spread madness, as shown in a News report about the madness Dee is causing like having people sleep in the freeway, having people commit suicide and giving people nightmares which is happening worldwide. He has the hostages attack each other for his entertainment, punish themselves and turned them into primitives for his sadistic enjoyment. He is also an egotistical god wannabe as he have the hostage worship him as a god and chant his name while calling him "The Wise and wonderful Dee", he has one man cut his own finger of for Dee to eat it as Dee's twisted way of giving sacrifices to a god.

- Despite being a live action adaptation of the "John Dee" Doctor Destiny, he is never called by by his full name or his supervillain name. He is only simply referred as Dee or just Dee.
