Tenko Shimura, also known as Tomura Shigaraki and The Joker, is a major antagonist in the 2021 My Hero Academia/Batman crossover fanfiction Deku: The Dark Knight, serving as the main antagonist of the USJ Arc, the Forest Training Camp Arc, and the Killing Joke Arc, one of the two main antagonists of the Shie Hassaikai Arc (along with Overhaul), the Dark Knight Rises Arc (along with Bane), and the Hero Killer Arc (along with Stain), and the secondary antagonist of the Hideout Raid Arc, the Knightfall Arc, and the Impostor Arc. He also served as the secondary antagonist of the spin-off fanfiction Justice League of the Multiverse: Injustice. He is the psychotic leader of the League of Villains, the former protege of All For One, and the arch-enemy and cousin of Izuku Midoriya/Batman. He is an amalgamation of My Hero Academia villain Tomura Shigaraki and DC Comics supervillain Joker.
Description[]
Joker is rather tall and lean, with deathly pale skin and black hair that turned pale blue from his Quirk. He has red eyes, and a small scar over his right eye, with a similar scar over the left side of his mouth, with a mole on the right side of his chin.
When he first appeared, he was wearing a black sweatshirt with matching pants and red shoes, with thirteen severed hands along his arms and face. Later, in the Shie Hassaikai Arc, he dons a black trench coat.
After fully becoming "The Joker", he gets rid of his extra hands and replaces his black trench coat with a red one, wearing it over a yellow button-up shirt, a red necktie, and purple slacks, and he puts on messy red lipstick and black eyeshadow.
In his civilian outfit, he wears a black hoodie over his standard black sweatshirt and pants.
Personality[]
Joker is a textbook nihilist, believing that all life is meaningless and not hesitating to kill and injure innocent people. He is also a sadist, having raped Minoru Mineta after shooting and crippling him simply because he wanted to cause him pain.
As a child, he was relatively nice and friendly, but slowly became jaded after years of suffering at the hands of his abusive father. Due to his father issues, he immediately latches on to All For One after the death of his father, practically worshipping the man (at least, initially).
He is also shown to be obsessed with Batman, seeing himself as the only one worthy of killing the hero, and vice versa.
Biography[]
Origin[]
Tenko Shimura was raised by his abusive father, Kotaro Shimura, and his enabling mother, Nao Shimura, growing up with his older sister, Hana Shimura. He originally wanted to be a Pro Hero, but his father hated Pro Heroes due to the death of his mother, Nana Shimura. Over the years, he became bitter and jaded, which all came to a head when he developed his Quirk at the age of seven, murdering his whole family by disintegrating them. He was later found by All For One, who decided to raise him to be his successor just to spite his arch-enemy, All Might, who had been Nana Shimura's pupil.
USJ Arc[]
Now operating under the alias "Tomura Shigaraki", he attacked the Unforeseen Simulation Joint on the orders of All For One, having assembled the League of Villains and turned the petty crook Cyrus Gold into the monstrous Noumu to assist Tomura in killing All Might. However, Noumu was defeated by All Might and the rest of the League was beaten by the students of Class 1-A, although some of the more big-name villains like the Scarecrow, Killer Moth, and Mr. Zsasz were able to escape thanks to the teleporting villain Kurogiri. Tomura himself was beaten by Izuku Midoriya in hand-to-hand combat, igniting a rivalry between the two.
Hero Killer Arc[]
Tomura approached the Hero Killer, Stain, with an offer to join the League of Villains. However, Stain refused, humiliating Tomura in front of his subordinates in the process. As revenge, Tomura decided to release three Noumus into the streets of Hosu City, where Stain had been operating at the time. While the Noumus were able to cause massive amounts of destruction, he was still overshadowed by the fight between the Hero Killer and Midoriya, who had been in Hosu on an internship with Sir Nighteye.
Forest Training Camp Arc[]
In the wake of the Hero Killer's arrest, Tomura is approached by Firefly (Touya Todoroki), Harley Quinn (Himiko Toga), the Riddler (Atsuhiro Sako), Killer Croc (Shuichi Iguchi), Magne (Kenji Hikiishi), Twice (Jin Bubaigawara), Mustard, Muscular, and Moonfish (Cornelius Stirk), who all wished to join the League on the mistaken belief that Stain was a member. Tomura sends them to attack Class 1-A and 1-B at the Wild Wild Pussycats' training camp. While Mustard, Moonfish, and Muscular are arrested, the rest are able to escape with hero-in-training Katsuki Bakugou as a hostage.
Hideout Raid Arc[]
Tomura and the rest of his subordinates are attacked by All Might and several Pro Heroes who raid his hideout. However, they're all teleported to All For One, who then has Kurogiri send them away so he can fight All Might. After witnessing his master's defeat on live television, Tomura swears revenge on All Might and the rest of hero society.
Shie Hassaikai Arc[]
Tomura and the League are approached by the crime boss Overhaul with an alliance. However, Tomura refuses, and Overhaul kills Magne and Mr. Zsasz and destroys the Riddler's left arm as revenge. Tomura then decides to send Harley and Twice to infiltrate the Shie Hassaikai, Overhaul's organization, and dismantle them from within. However, he soon finds out this was unnecessary, as all the Shie Hassaikai members, including Overhaul, were arrested by a team of heroes, including Midoriya. Tomura decides to "get even" with Overhaul, hijacking the squad car he was being transported in. He then gloats to Overhaul about his superiority before injecting him with an experimental toxin that causes him to laugh himself to death, much to the shock and horror of the rest of the League.
Impostor Arc[]
Tomura teams up with Neito Monoma, who had been recently expelled from U.A. High, and helps him steal Midoriya's identity through facial surgery. He then kidnaps the real Midoriya and holds him prisoner in the LoV hideout, but is beaten by Katsuki Bakugou and Minoru Mineta when they come to rescue him.
Knightfall Arc[]
When the mercenary Bane shows up in Japan, Tomura decides to approach him with an offer to join the League. Much to his surprise, Bane actually accepts. After Bane cripples and almost kills Izuku Midoriya, Tomura decides to go after Midoriya to kill him while he's vulnerable. However, Bane turns on him, stating that he is the only one who can kill Midoriya, viewing him as a worthy opponent. To add insult to injury, Bane then injects Tomura with a sample of the Shie Hassaikai's Quirk-erasing drug, making him Quirkless. Enraged, Tomura tries to attack Bane, only to get a broken arm for his troubles.
Killing Joke Arc[]
Having suffered humiliation at the hands of Midoriya, the Hero Killer, and Bane, Tomura finally snaps, taking on the new persona of "The Joker". After forming a temporary alliance with Talia al Ghul, he then breaks into the house of Midoriya's friend, Minoru Mineta, on Talia's suggestion. He shoots Mineta in the back, severing his spine and crippling him from the waist down, before raping him and sending pictures of him to Midoriya and Tsuyu Asui (Mineta's girlfriend) to taunt them. He then kidnaps Midnight in an attempt to prove his theory that "one bad day" is enough to completely break someone, stripping her down and forcing her on a ride through a funhouse displaying pictures of Mineta's body. However, he is eventually found and beaten to a pulp by Midoriya, being sent to Arkham Asylum, where he was presumably one of the many patients who were psychologically tormented by Dr. Kyudai Garaki.
Dark Knight Rises Arc[]
After a ten-year timeskip, Joker is among dozens of patients freed from Arkham by Bane during his hostile takeover of Musutafu. Shortly after Bane is beaten by Midoriya (now the Pro Hero Batman), Joker shows up and kills Bane with the same "Joker toxin" that he used on Overhaul, and also manages to kill Katsuki Bakugou the same way. He then hijacks the atomic bomb that Bane was going to use to destroy Musutafu and makes a speech on live television about the upcoming destruction of the city, only for Batman to steal it and attach it to the Batwing to fly out over the ocean so it can detonate safely. As Batman flies out over the ocean, Joker jumps onto the bomb and attempts to climb the rope attaching it to the Batwing. He begins to gloat about how both he and Batman are at "the end of the line" before the bomb goes off, vaporizing him instantly. However, unbeknownst to him, Batman had narrowly escaped death by ejecting out of the Batwing.
Injustice League[]
About three years before the Dark Knight Rises Arc, Batman had teamed with six other versions of Midoriya to form the Justice League of the Multiverse. One year later, the JLM has expanded its ranks. Melissa Shield of Earth-2 traveled to Earth-1 (Batman's universe) and broke Joker out of Arkham, and also brought together seven other supervillains from across the Multiverse to form the Injustice League. Her master plan was to systematically exploit the weaknesses of each JLM member so that Brainiac (the true mastermind behind the Injustice League) could "add" them to his collection. However, Batman managed to beat the Joker, and he was sent back to Arkham.
Powers/Skills[]
Decay Quirk: Tomura used to have the ability to disintegrate anything by touching it with all five fingers. However, he lost this ability after Bane injected him with the Quirk-erasing drug.
Genius-level Intellect: Tomura has a very keen mind, and is a very capable strategist.
Unpredictability: Due to his insanity, Tomura is highly unpredictable, especially in his fighting style, which allows him to go toe-to-toe with Batman.
Quotes[]

Joker: Insanity is the emergency exit, Bakugou. You can just step outside, and turn your back on all those dreadful things. You can lock them away… forever.”
- The Joker to Katsuki Bakugou
“A lion doesn’t pass judgment on a gazelle. Cancer doesn’t pass judgment on a brain. Evil doesn’t exist, Midoriya. There are only actions. We got to the same place: the top of the food chain. Just on different paths. Mine was just more fun.”
