| ~ King Magnifico pleading with Asha. |
King Magnifico is a character from the "Disney Princesses but they're Villains" series of songs by British musical artist Lydia the Bard.
He is the corrupt though tragic king of Rosas that uses his magical powers to steal away people's wishes and memories, all to keep his kingdom secure. He serves as the main antagonist of "Asha's Villain Song" and its animatic.
He was voiced by Alex Runicles.
Biography[]
This version of Magifico's story begins similarly to how it did in the original Disney version: once a citizen of a thriving kingdom, Magnifico lived happily with his wife Amaya. However, the kingdom was attacked by invaders who murdered his parents and razed the kingdom to the ground. Devastated, Magnifico wished on a star for a peaceful and prosperous kingdom. He fled with his wife and founded the kingdom of Rosas. During this time, Magnifico mastered various forms of magic and sorcery, including finding a Book of Spells that he could use.
In Rosas, Magnifico, now king, kept his people in line by offering to grant their wishes. In actuality, Magnifico would only grant the wishes that were beneficial to himself or the kingdom, and any others he feared as dangerous sue to his past loss. These wishes he would steal away, along with the person's memories of the wish, and seal them away.
When looking for an assistant, Magnifico meets Asha. He reveals to her the true nature of his supposed granting of wishes, including refusing her request to grant her grandfather's wish. Asha is horrified by this. To prove to her family Magnifico's true nature, Asha steals her grandfather's wish to show them. Magnifico follows, and smashes the wish of Asha's mother in front of her, destroying a piece of her soul and leaving her in despair.
Shocked and horrified by this, Asha breaks in and steals Magnifico's spellbook, using it to kidnap him and steal his wish. Despite seeing his tragic past and Magnifico pleading with Asha to show mercy, she decides to crush his wish in front of him, destroying a part of his soul and leaving him feeling sad and hollow. Asha leaves, wielding her new powers with reckless abandon.
Personality[]
Magnifico is portrayed as crooked and manipulative, but genuinely believes what he is doing is right. He is paranoid that anything that is not immediately beneficial to the kingdom is a threat, hurting and abusing his subjects in order to enforce a perfect utopia.

Trivia[]
- Unlike most characters in the series being more villainous than their original Disney versions, Magnifico is portrayed as far more sympathetic.
- This also makes him a far call from his original counterpart, who was approved as Pure Evil.
