Lafayette is a character in the Hearts of Iron 4 mod The Fire Rises. He is a French Soldier who holds patriotic views about serving in the Military, initially serving in the Second American Civil War for the Patriot Front before returning back home to France to serve against the Russians in the First European War.
However, if Russia (Under the CPRF) wins against NATO, then Lafayette radicalizes and becomes an ultranationalist with the goal of seeking revenge against France's enemies. Becoming a potential Major Antagonist in the Mod.
In Game.[]
While there is no prior information on Lafeytte, he is introduced as an anonymous soldier joining the army before eventually leaving France for the Second American Civil War for the Patriot Front. Once Russia launches its invasion of Ukraine before escalating into the First European War, Lafayette returns to France to serve his own nation, keeping in touch with his parents by writing letters, describing the devastating conditions of the war. Depending on the outcome of the First European War, Lafayette's fate can be dependent on the outcome.
Should France and NATO prevail in the First European War. He would eventually stay behind in Russia, believing that Russia will try to strike Europe again. Should Russia win against NATO, then Lafayette subsequently becomes radicalized from the horrors of the European war, fighting for the Government of National Defense in the French Civil War.
Should the prevailing Military Government reject in inviting the Fascists into a position of Government, then the Military's role in Government would be consolidated, which subsequently would be divided between two factions; the Gaulists who seek to restore Elections in France, or the Petanists to preserve the Military's rule. Should the power struggle result above 90% towards the Petanists, then Young Officer Putsch led by Lafayette would launch a coup, with France becoming a National Socialist Government ruled by the Young Patriotic Movement with Lafayette as the Dictator.
After establishing a New Order, Lafayette begins by enforcing French Superiority, boosting Patriotism and embracing a more Carolingian element of Fascism. Believing that those of the 'Judeo-Germanic race' are nothing but subhumans who are dragging down the cultures of Europe, by sympathizing with the Communards. Adding up to their principles includes the ideas of Frankia, embracing Charlemange's legacy as a requirement for a French Lebensraum.
