Level DOWN is the overarching antagonist of the Level UP series. He is a mysterious dark form of Level UP and possibly his archenemy, goes to world conquest by possessing Luigi so that he can use him to take over the entire universe ruled under his iron fist.
While possessing Luigi, his first appearance was in "God Mode Luigi vs the Cavern of Arrows," while he first physically appeared in the next video "God Mode Luigi vs the Stone Statues Temple."
In Princess Plum vs The Soulless, Level DOWN is voiced by Marco Guzman in the titular princess' story.
Appearance[]
Level DOWN is a entity clone to Level UP. With that, most of his aspects and design are parallel to the creator. Notable differences include him being greyish-black, sometimes with a surrounding aura. He also has red eyes, a mouth, and a down arrow.
While possessing Luigi, the plumber becomes covered in black with dark grey overalls, while keeping the red eyes and down arrow.
Personality[]
Level DOWN is a character who is portrayed in an irredeemable light. With that, he is a sadistic and cruel entity, who wants nothing more but power, domination and conquest to seek destroying the universe at all costs. With that, he possesses Luigi to gain more power so that he can also take over the Mushroom Kingdom. He is also arrogant, revealing himself to boast in the other characters faces about his plans to dominate the entire universe and once when Toadette attempts to fight him.
Level DOWN also shows a hatred towards Mario, ironically more than Bowser, where he blames him for choosing to protect the his brother over the kingdom, when the plumber means to protect both subjects.
As explained by Level UP to the Goomba Rebels, even if Level DOWN would succeed in all of his goals, he still wouldn't be satisfied enough and continue to have a lust for more domination.
In "Level UP: Mario vs the Laser Beams Maze", Level DOWN allows Laser Goomba to defeat Mario all on their own. While this may seem like a moment of honorability and extremely minor generosity, this is heavily implied to be entirely pragmatic as Laser Goomba mentioned that had to make a deal with him, and that Level DOWN only will use them as a fodder to eliminate Mario.
Biography[]
Sometime before the events of the God Mode Luigi Arc, Level DOWN would master his God Mode powers, and would plan to possess Princess Plum, the monarch of the Moonlight Kingdom, as an offer to rule the world together. However, after the Princess refused he banished her and then found Luigi in the distance, noticing his stretching abilities, and made him the candidate for his God Mode abilities.
God Mode Luigi vs the Cavern of Arrows[]
Level DOWN would train Luigi in the Cavern of Arrows, a previous obstacle course Mario attempted to do months ago. While at first, it looked like Luigi has incorporated new abilities, the fight with Bowser ends with Luigi breaking the fourth wall, by exiting into the YouTube browser, moving the screen, and jumping back in to defeat the Koopa King. When Level UP shows up to stop Luigi, stating he made the course specifically for Mario, the creator then attempts to despawn Luigi, but to no avail it doesn't work. Luigi then banishes Level UP and takes over his channel, redubbing it as "Luigi UP."
God Mode Luigi vs the Stone Statues Temple[]
Soon after Luigi has teleported Level UP away, Bowser, who fortunately had an extra life, goes to hide in a nearby pipe, arousing suspicion about his sudden new powers and knew that Luigi was always cowardly, along with his added glowing red eyes. Luigi then exits the cavern and Level DOWN soon remarks on being unstoppable with Level UP gone, before stumbling into the Stone Statues Temple. Level DOWN then makes Luigi do the entire course, before the two get to the end, where he is revealed.
The Void between Worlds[]
Unbeknownst to Level DOWN, Bowser has followed him the entire time, spying on him from afar and becomes shocked when the entity reveal his true identity. In Luigi's mind, Level DOWN informs him on permanently sustaining God Mode and dealing with his friends when he plans to take over the universe.
God Mode Luigi UNLEASHED[]
As Luigi makes his way to the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser quickly travels there as well to warn the residences about the oncoming attack. There Luigi appears right at the drawbridge where all stand.
Level UP vs The Soulless[]
Although Level DOWN nor the possessed Luigi appear here, Princess Plum, who is seen camping in the Soulless World, informs Level UP about him and his similar appears to that of the entity.
Tiny Luigi and the Mario Blocks Maze[]
Prior to the possessed Luigi raiding the Mushroom Kingdom, Level DOWN summons a Tiny Luigi, to infiltrate the castle's tunnels, with limited God Mode power. Eventually Tiny Luigi clears it and informs Level DOWN that he has infiltrated the castle.
Battle for the Mushroom Kingdom[]
As the possessed Luigi and the Mushroom Kingdom residences (including Bowser) all have a stand off, Level DOWN reveals himself from the possessed plumber. Here Level DOWN reveals his true plans to take over the universe and all its contents. Level DOWN would then blackmail Princess Peach to hand over their kingdom, or suffer. Upon Peach refusing, Level DOWN consumes Luigi and orders him to destroy everyone. In Luigi's mind, the real plumber is imprisoned by the evil entity, as he takes full control of his body. When everyone is defeated, he looks down to Mario blames him for choosing to protect the his brother over the kingdom, and proceeds to grab him by the neck and plans to kill him, as Luigi inside his mind looks in horror.
Princess Plum vs The Soulless[]
Eventually, taking over, the "Luigi UP" intro is redubbed as "Level DOWN."
Sometime after the events of "Level UP vs The Soulless," Princess Plum tells the story about her encounter with Level DOWN. In her story, she explains that Princess Peach called for help when Level DOWN surrounded her with his goons, and when Plum arrived there with her rescue troops, the entity had already kidnapped her. Plum becomes distraught, before Level DOWN teleports right behind her, and takes out all of her troops. Then, Level DOWN lunges towards Plum and engulfs her subconscious, before offering her to rule the world together. Of course, Plum refused, and Level DOWN responded by banishing her to the Soulless realm, explaining how she got there. Level UP then soon realizes Level DOWN as his arch nemesis and figured out that he was the one responsible for Luigi's sudden possession.
The Goomba Revolution - Into the Void[]
After the Goomba Rebels defeat the Soulless Pokemon, Level UP explains to them about Level DOWN and his desire to achieve insane amounts of conquest. As Level UP further explains of how even if the evil entity would win, Level DOWN still wouldn't have satisfied enough.
After Magic Goomba teleports Level UP to his intro, he knocks Level DOWN into a pit, much to the entity's surprise.
Other Non-God Mod Luigi Arc Appearances (non-canon)[]
When Note Blocks become 1000x more dangerous in Super Mario Bros.[]
Although Level DOWN doesn't physically appear in this video, a Note Block with his face appears at the end of the video, where Mario accidently jumps on it, causing it activate and allowing Level DOWN to hijack and consume his body, costing Mario a life.

In one of the skits, a viewer requests Level DOWN to be frightened by Shrek, after the latter defeats the Impossible Mode Bowser.
