Luigi, also referred to as Luigi Mario, is the primary adversary in Dwerbi's "Mario Madness Lyrical Cover." Luigi, the main antagonist of the song "Oh God No" and "I Hate You," is based on the I Hate You Creepypasta. He is an envious traitor to his elder twin, Mario, becoming jealous of all the fame and fortune while he was left in the shadows and teaming up with Bowser to get the recognition he craved. However, Luigi ends up getting pushed into lava and brought back as an undead zombie hellbent on revenge against anyone who crosses him.
He is voiced by ThatMyth1cVA.
Personality[]
It can be assumed that Luigi's personality prior to joining Bowser was similar to his canon counterpart. However, Luigi grew envious of his brother's success and being left behind and joined Bowser when the latter offered him a chance to be 'reformed' and be his own man. Luigi is shown to be petty and callous towards his own brother Mario, who despite apologizing for neglecting him, refuses to redeem himself or come home, wanting to be his 'own Luigi' and declaring he doesn't need family. He is also vindictive as he says how it was pathetic he used to trust Mario and that he despises him for overshadowing him and refuses to forgive and screams how he hates Mario upon being shoved into the Lava at the end of 'Oh Go No'.
Even after being burned, Luigi's resentment towards his brother remains unchanged and he has the audacity to compare himself to Boyfriend who dressed like Mario and believes that he is a pawn to Mario's ego and shows no remorse for any of his actions, believing himself to be the 'hero' even in spite of betraying his own allies and friends for the sake of fame and egotistical about his own wants and desires and spits in Mario's face by declaring he's not his brother when he tries to welcome him back home and deescalate the situation.
Despite this, Luigi's lyrics in both songs heavily imply that deep down, Luigi just wants to be loved and adored like his brother and be seen as his own person. His lyrics showcase that Luigi is desperate to be his own person and not a 'clone' of Mario no matter the cost. Luigi is shown to be insecure and his lyrics show him venting frustration over being in Mario's shadow and it's implied that Mario's unintentional neglect of Luigi caused him to lash out and betray him as Mario spends most of the song apologizing for wronging Luigi whilst Luigi refuses to accept this, showing how consumed with bitterness he is.
In spite of this, Luigi does show villainous respect towards Bowser for believing in him and whilst it's unknown whether this is genuine on Bowser's part, Luigi still holds him in high regard despite being undead and says that Koopa's faith in him as one of the reasons he turned on his friends and family. He also seems to see a kindred spirit in Boyfriend to a degree as whilst he rejects Boyfriend's attempts to make him see the error of his ways, he does mistakenly believe that they both share the trait of being overshadowed and it seems like in some of the lyrics Luigi is trying to get Boyfriend to see his side of the issue despite his attempt to kill him.
Despite his terrible relationship with Mario, it does seem like Luigi did want things to be different between them as Luigi has several lyrics showing how hurt he is over Mario's neglect and how Mario ignored his screams, indicating he wanted things to end differently but Mario's unintentional neglect drove a deep wedge in the relationship that couldn't be fixed as by the time Mario tries to fix this, Luigi is too bitter to accept Mario's apology as it came too late. Luigi's final lyric in,"I Hate You," showcases that whilst he hypoctically blames Mario for shutting the door on their relationship, he does seem to feel it was a shame Mario couldn't see his potential, hinting that Luigi really did want Mario to love him and was devastated when he mistakenly believed otherwise and it's implied that Mario's neglect was the primary reason for Luigi's fall to villainy, indicating Luigi wanted Mario's support and felt betrayed when Mario didn't heed his cries for attention.
Oh God No[]
The song starts out with Mario arriving on the scene and Luigi delivering his infamous line. He sings about being tired of being Mario's secondary and that he will know his pain. Mario spends the song trying to apologize and calm Luigi down, however his pleas fall on deaf ears. Luigi even goes as far as to claim that he is not his brother when Mario tries to get him to come home, continuing with his plans to throw him into the Lava. When Mario pushes him in to save himself, Luigi's final lyrics detail him saying how he wants to not be a clone and how he will never forgive him as he shouts ,"I HATE YOU!" The song ends with Mario looking down at Lugi's burning hat with a tear in his eye before running away with sad music playing.
I Hate You[]
An undead Luigi rises from the lava and sings to Boyfriend about his resentment towards his brother, with Boyfriend hearing him out before realizing that Luigi will kill him. Boyfriend points out how sad it was that Luigi never realized how much Mario loved him and seems to somewhat pity him for how far he's fallen and that Luigi was the one who pushed Mario away when he came to apologize and when the song ends, Boyfriend boots Luigi into the lava once and for all, ending his reign of terror for the final time as Luigi shouts 'OH GOD NO!' as his last words.
Trivia[]
- He is the first incarnation of Luigi to be Near Pure Evil.
- Unlike the original IHY Luigi, this incarnation of Luigi's tragedy is considered genuine as well as having a sympathetic defeat with Mario mourning his death and Boyfriend pitying Luigi for not realizing how much Mario loved him. He's also genuinely loyal and respects Bowser.
