I used to be the same as just about any other human. Now? I'm just the same as the rest of my colleagues. Fighting endlessly, "warring"... I guess you're just another visitor. Another victim... I'm sorry, Prince Mawkin.
~ M1CH431 before his boss fight.
Prince Mawkin... I am truly sorry for my act of violence against you. I was wondering if you could give me a second chance... I never knew you were doing it to prove your affection to Lady Satriana...
~ M1CH431's redemption as he apologizes to Prince Mawkin and asks him for forgiveness.

Michael, also known as the Lord of Agony and his boss title M1CH431 Gravitas Umore IV (or for short, M1CH431), is a major antagonist in the 2022 hit RPG game Trials of the Nine Realms, serving as the main antagonist of Chapter 2: Machines with Minds.

He is a member of The Confluence's Nine Realms, later to be known as just the Nine Realms after Regrochaos disappears from the battleground. Before the events of the game, he robotized himself so that he may be able to become stronger through a different body, to terrific results. A few years later, he seized control over the Agony Realm, becomings its respected ruler as he robotized his subjects at Castle Geargrind, so they may prepare to end the next Grand War.

He is voiced by SleepingGuy.

Villainous Acts[]

  • He participated in the Uprising, a movement led by Terror, alongside the other Confluence members, slaying 30 Deities in the process, only stopping when he witnessed Regrochaos' disappearance from the battleground.
  • When gifted a realm by Satriana, he seized control of the Agony Realm, eventually earning his status as the ruler of Castle Geargrind due to his terrific respect.
  • For good intentions, he robotized up to hundreds or thousands of people at the Agony Realm, placing them inside machines to prevent the next Grand War, putting them in rather harsh restrictions (which he limits either way).
  • Eventually garners a reputation so fearsome that Zestra, M1CH431's half-brother, fled instead of taking him head-on, and even ended up stalemating the battle between him and Okitaro due to his strength.
  • During the meeting with The Confluence, M1CH431 acted as the Broken Soul's guardian, reprimending anyone who said anything about him, often by (rather slight) violence.
  • Attempts to sorrowfully kill Mawkin and his party himself when they reject his truce, and would've killed Mawkin easily if regret didn't get the best of him.
  • Fatally stabs his half-brother Jukendre when he had Mawkin his party brought to their knees. However, this was justified, as Jukendre was about to grind the two of them into a bloody pulp.

Appearance[]

Standing at 20ft tall and being the first largest Confluence member (aside from Jukendre, who measures 14ft in height), M1CH431 has gray armour of many tones, with four light gray horns, spiked kneepads, black boots, and white eyes that sometimes poke out. His forearms and forelegs have special shielding on them with a blue-white glowing middle, with light blue-grey rims at the tops and ends. His helmet also has two arrows pointing out, as well as a dark gray arrow shape in the middle of it. His original form, however, remains a mystery.

Personality[]

Like most Confluence members, M1CH431 is a powerful ruler, but save for a select few, M1CH431 genuinely cares about the occupants of the Agony Realm, treating them with respect before and after robitizing them, letting them roam around freely whilst being under harsh restrictions, and takes rather kindly to requests to tone down said restrictions.

Perhaps the most defining trait of M1CH431 would be his bravery: In the Uprising, M1CH431 came out unscathed (which is notable if you compare the scars everyone has compared to him), and much like Thrivulas, he garnered a fearsome reputation, with most Realms refusing to take him head-on, even forcing Zestra to flee at some point. The only one unafraid to take him on (but later regretful to do so) was Okitaro, his step-sister whom matched him in terms of power. The battle, however, had a serious toll on the both of them, as M1CH431 prohibited anyone from the Pain Realm into entering the Agony Realm, and Pandora was too afraid to send out any of her minions to the Agony Realm, acknowledging it as "total madness".

Of all the Nine Realms, M1CH431 was the first to come back to his senses, demonstrated as instead of simply killing Mawkin, he axed himself, thus resulting in his willing reprogramming, showing that he is merciful. Another case happens where he kills Jukendre, his half-brother, and instead of killing Mawkin and Satriana, asks for forgiveness before the others do, showing loyalty not only to Satriana, but to the very person that thwarted him during battle.

Quotes[]

A friendly reminder to everyone... This includes you, Zestra; to anyone who attempts to ruin this very meeting, shall be reprimended. And for Her, I will not hold back.
~ M1CH431 at the start of the Confluence's meeting, and his first lines.
Looks like we have an intruder. Perhaps... I shall tell you a story, before your... grisly demise? Very well...
~ M1CH431 to Mawkin after he reaches Castle Geargrind.
Forgive me, Prince Mawkin... For I shall deliver the news of your death to Her.
~ M1CH431's game over quote.
... Hmph... So, is that how it's going to be then? Very well... Prince Mawkin... Take my Sinbreaker. It will be of good use for you later on... Safe travels.
~ M1CH431 after being defeated.
