I have no desire to get close to anyone here. Forming an alliance in this game is just opening yourself to getting stabbed in the back, which would hurt Mike very much. So in order to protect him, I'm afraid I will have to do the backstabbing first. Gladly.
~ Mal's most famous quote.
Don't you get it? I don't care about the competition, or the million dollars; that's what Mike wanted. My only goals are to keep myself and by proxy the idiots who share this body with me safe, and hurting others who would try to do us harm. Case and point, I don't really appreciate all the stuff you've done with Mike.
~ Mal revealing his motivations right before attacking Chris.

Mal is a minor antagonist in the Total Shuffled Series, in particular being the secondary antagonist of Total Shuffled Pahkitew Island. He is Mike's alternate personality who is meant to protect Mike and the other personalities. However, he doesn't actually care about any of them and doesn't mind letting all of Mike's friends die if they get in the way of his own agenda.

Personality[]

Mal's main characteristic is his lack of empathy towards anyone. He doesn't care for any of the contestants, even if they are close with Mike. He is willing to kill others just in order to return to juvie, and doesn't care about the negative repercussions of his actions. Another key character trait is his constant vengeance. Once he is wronged, he will do anything to get revenge, not caring who he ends up hurting. This is best seen with Duncan, who he resents for knowing who he is and for allowing Mike to take control of the body again.

Other than these two qualities, Mal is mostly just a monster. He is extremely sadistic, taking pleasure in Duncan and Eva's pain in the finale, and is hated by everyone, including Mike himself.

Biography[]

Before Total Drama, Mal, an alternate personality of Mike, ended up committing a crime off-screen that caused him to go to juvie. When he was there, he ruled over juvie and practically ran the place. However, Mike and the other personalities realized that he was too dangerous to keep around, so they managed to lock him up. Mike got therapy and was released soon after. Later on, Mike applied for Total Drama to attempt to gain more experiences and win the million dollars.

During Total Drama, Duncan has a couple of moments where he is unsure if Mike is actually Mal, who he recognized from Juvie. During the episode "This is the Pits", Duncan confronts Mike, accusing him of being Mal. Panicking, Mike tells Duncan that Mal is just an alternate personality and he locked him up a long time ago. Mike convinces Duncan not to tell everyone else, and he tells Duncan that if he is ever unsure who is in control of his body, all Duncan has to do is hum the first couple of notes to "In the Hall of the Mountain King" and if Mike finishes it, Mal has taken possession of the body.

Mal's first in-person appearance in the story happens during "Hurl and Go Seek". After betraying his friend Owen in the previous challenge and eating Juggy Chunks in this challenge, Mike's morale was at an all-time low. He tries to find a hidding spot to escape from Heather, but one by one, his personalities fail him and he is forced to endure it on his own. Mike starts regretting joining the show and begs someone to help him, not caring who it is. This frees Mal because Mal is the personality meant to help Mike when he has no other options. Mal wins the challenge by not getting caught, and secretly back-stabs LeShawna, saying that it is to defend Mike.

In the next challenge, Mal and the other contestants are forced to head to the center of the artificial island in order to shut down the self destruct sequence with Mal being forced to travel with Heather. During the journey, Heather questions Mal's identity, to which Mal responds by saying that it doesn't make a difference who he is. After Mal breaks into the main control room, he refuses to stop the self destruct, saying that there already is an escape pod and that he doesn't actually care about the money. He then uses the control room to send robot animals, promo bots and even Scuba Bear against the other 5 contestants.

After they defeat the robots the contestants try to convince Mal to let them disable the self destruct sequence. When Mal refuses, saying he wants to return to juvy to "rule over a bunch of easily-controlled peons", the contestants try to appeal to Mike so he can break free from Mal's grasp. The contestants manage to tell Mal that they forgive him for voting off Owen. Mike manages to take over and he disables the self destruct sequence. At the elimination ceremony, Chris forces Mike to get booted, saying that he is "more eliminated than anyone who has been eliminated, even that evil little gnome kid". Mal takes over for a minute and tell Chris that he doesn't care, to which Chris responds by saying that he will make sure Mike gets therapy. Mike takes over, and thanks all of the contestants for helping him out before getting shot out of the cannon.

Mal's final appearance is in the finale of the season. All of the contestants are brought back to see the finale, and the finalists are forced to randomly select a helper. Duncan is forced to take Mike, so he hums "In the Hall of the Mountain King" in order to make sure that Mike is in control. This causes Mal to return, since he is now triggered whenever he hears that tune. After helping Duncan through the first part of the challenge, Chris tries to turn both of the helpers against the finalists. After successfully turning Sky against Eva, he allows Mal to reveal something incriminating against Duncan. However, Duncan doesn't let him, telling Brick that he loves him. When Mal reveals that he was going to reveal something else, Duncan tells him that he couldn't care less about what he has to say, angering Mal.

Chris then reveals the twist that the helpers will become the new hinderers in the challenge. If they manage to stop Duncan or Eva from crossing the line, they will win the million dollars. Mal immediately agrees to do it out of revenge, even when Sky hesitates. Mal tries to kill Duncan and Eva, but ends up failing in the end, with Eva managing to cross the line and escape. Mal, now returning as Mike, leaves with the other competitors in the helicopter, and it is presumed that Mike got proper therapy and learned how to deal with Mal.

Trivia[]

  • This version of Mal seems to be the replacement for the cannon Scarlett and Dave, due to him performing both of their heinous actions.
  • Mal is one of the three Total Shuffled villains to try to kill someone, along with Amy and Scarlett.
