Synopsis[]
Back in the year 1907, Maleficent was once a young boy who was friends with another child. The two couldn't decide on whether to play monopoly or tennis, so they created Monopo-tennis. This game lead to the outbreak of the Keyblade War, causing millions of casualties in the process. The game was locked away, but one of two boys opened the door in order to force everyone to play the game with him. After the war, the boy would be physiclaly scared, leaving his skin perminetly green in the process. Later, the boy would receive feminization hormones and adopted the name Maleficent. At some point in time, Maleficent formed the Council of Disney Villains in order to conquer the world. She would also capture the princesses, who were her bullies back in middle school, and trapped her in her castle.
After Sora, Donald, and Goofy defeated the Guard Armor heartless, Sora smiles and is made fun of by Donald and Goofy for it. Meanwhile, the Disney Villains are mocking Sora for his smile, which gets the attention of Maleficent. She tells them that Sora's smile is the key to driving her plans to their ultimate fruition. Maleficent meets with Hades after the tournament at the Olympus Coliseum, who is lost and confused in his own house. Hades noticed that she took his tennis ball and stuck it onto her staff, and asks her to give it back to him before the scene fades to black.
When Maleficent learns that Sora was killed by Kerchak in the Deep Jungle world, she realizes that with Sora dead, she can't use him for her plans. She initially panics before realizing she will simply meet him in the middle. Jafar is initially perplexed by her plan, to which she explains that Sora is now stuck in purgatory, and they must find him before Donald and Goofy get him out. Suddenly, Alice walks into her lair, ready for a colonoscopy appointment, confusing Maleficent in the process. However, Maleficent would soon learn that Sora miraculously escaped purgatory, and believed that the power of his smile is what ultimately saved him. She orders Riku to act as her personal spy and obtain any information about Sora and his smile.
Afterwards, she meets with Jafar in Agrabah to inform him of what she ordered Riku to do. Suddenly, their interaction was interrupted by Iago, who loudly introduces himself. Maleficent then summoned some Heartless to kill him, which scares him off. After Sora defeated Jafar, Maleficent speaks with Hades and Riku about their current predicament. She decided to change Riku's task to retrieve information from Kairi, much to his surprise. Captain Hook intrudes into the room and comments on the hologram of Kairi sleeping and wishes her a good night sleep. Riku gets even more confused and Maleficent reveals that Hook is actually her brother. As she apologizes for not informing Riku on everything, he reacts with disgust as she placed her hand on the side of his face. She replies by saying that he was making what she did weird by reacting to it and orders him to continue gathering intel. Hades exclaims concern for allowing Riku to walk away freely, which Maleficent responds by saying that he's not a prisoner and is allowed to leave.
Riku later finds himself inside of Monstro as he spies on Sora, Maleficent appears and asks why he ran away even though she ordered him to leave. Riku asks if she knows any friends her age, to which Maleficent responds with stating that she didn't have a lot of friends in her life, and even tells him that she doesn't consider the other villains as her friends. She claims that she doesn't feel weird or upset about it before leaving. After Riku escapes Monstro, he boards Captain Hook's Jolly Roger, watching over Kairi while she sleeps. Maleficent barges in asking if he's ever played Red Dragon Inn. She fails to try to be social with Riku then attempts to hypnotize him into hanging out with her, to which he resists and furiously demands her to leave him alone.
Riku is teleported back to Maleficent's lair and is forced to play through a game of Monopo-tennis, leaving Riku physically exhausted. Suddenly, they hear a noise from outside, but would then continue their conversation like normal. Maleficent then offers a deal to Riku. If he plays more games with her, he won't be her spy anymore. Later, Maleficent announces to the captured Princesses that her castle is now under new ownershup under Sora, and wiahes to celebrate with a game of Monopo-tennis. Riku, who is now under the control of Ansem, enters the room and wishes to talk with Maleficent about boundaries and respecting them. Maleficent accuses him of being hateful and not valuing her as a person. Riku takes this well, then shows off his new keyblade to her, which he states represent the boundaries that they now forged. Maleficent is overjoyed with Riku seemingly finally willing to hang out with her. Riku then tells her that she should start with making friends her own age, and Maleficent asks if the princesses stuck in her pods could be her friends, which briefly concerned him. Maleficent then finally meets Sora, Donald, and Goofy face to face, and asks if he would like to play her games. Sora refuces and engages in battle with her. After being severely wounded, Riku walks out of a portal and ridicules her for attempting to murder a child. Riku then proclaims that he wishes to teach Sora how to set boundaries while stabbing Maleficent in the chest. This causes her to transform into a dragon and fights the trio one last time. Sora succeeds in beating her, and Maleficent succumbs to her injuries and disintegrates, leaving nothing behind but a stain of where she once stood.
