Marnos, also known as 2008M or Matt.EXE, is a clone of Sonic.EXE, but taking a road similar to 2011x by JoeDoughBoi, created by ProbablyMatt on September 16, 2025. He is the main antagonist of his game, Matt The Speedster (2008).
Appearance:[]
In his Disguised Form, Marnos disguises himself with the appearance of Matt, but with visible imperfections.
Matt usually wears a Red Beanie, Gray Hoodie with a Red T-Shirt, with Blue Jeans and White Laceless Shoes, his eyes are Crimson Red and he usually has a snarky smile, full of energy.
Marnos however, has wrinkles on his eyes, a crease on his mouth, his pupils are black, and his shoes are gray, much like his Main Form.
When he transforms into his Main Form, his appearance changes drastically. Now his eyes are a dark void, from which they bleed, his shoes are gray, and the top of his shoes have rotten leather, his pupils become small and red, and sharp, yellowish fangs sprout from his mouth.

There is not much lore, as Matt 2008 (short for Matt the Speedster (2008) is just a retake of Sonic.EXE with Original Characters, but the spirit, which didn't have a name, is actually a female spirit, taking the vessel of Matt by splitting his soul and then manifesting itself with that soul half, technically making Marnos a trans man
Marnos begins his little games, in any way you interpret it since there is no clear scenario, if it takes place within Matt's universe or inside a haunted Sonic fangame
Marnos is first seen in Park Hills Zone, an equivalent to Green Hill, it seems normal at first until it starts raining heavily, indescribable fleshy figures litter the trees and benches, the trees have mutilated corpses of what was once human people, seemingly the civillians of the city outside of Park Hills, the creature in the bench is unknown, again, up to interpretation, it looks like a slug made of flesh, it even has a skull like face on it and it seems to be bulging out of its back for an unknown reason
Once Lenny, the first victim, encounters Marnos, Marnos asks for a "little race", transporting Lenny to Amazonian Bay Zone, an equivalent to Angel Island, but engulfed in flames and ridden of plantlife, as Lenny runs forward, an altar is seen with a blue diamond, known as The Supreme Diamond, an equivalent to The Master Emerald, unfortunately Lenny didn't get to reach it, Marnos grabs Lenny and rips him apart, and then shortly after, stomping his face in to put him out of his misery.
The second victim, Brownie, is next in line, she is found in Jammin' Factory Zone, an equivalent to Scrap Brain, Brownie proceeds to enter one of the buildings, she finds herself indoors, and then encountering a pipe leaking a purple gas, covering the room in a purple mist, the gas is sedative, causing Brownie to cough from the gas and then fall asleep, she then wakes up outside the building, but now the sky is covered in a purple mist, and the floor is stained in blood, Marnos teleports infront of Brownie, only to get punched out of the screen, Brownie is known to be VERY, VERY strong, this sets off Marnos to begin a fight with her out of anger, Marnos rigs the fight by using decoys to throw her off, the decoys are shown to be mocking her, Brownie eventually gets tired, Marnos takes advantage of this moment to punch her so hard in the stomach, it ruptures open, causing her guts to spill out, she starts coughing and vomiting blood, she gets a moment to breathe, Marnos shows up wielding a sharpened metal pipe, soon finishing her off by decapitating her while also piercing her brain out.
The third and final victim, Metal Matt, finds himself also in Jammin' Factory, but in a more secret area, he travels forward finding himself a balcony, he rocket boosts off of the balcony, flying away in need of a place he can't be found, unfortunately for him, Marnos was right behind him, he reaches Dusty Ruins Zone, an equivalent to Marble Zone, which actually was an ancient civilization, with culture, religion and all, as seen by the statue in the background, Metal Matt goes inside the temple, with a checkerboard floor and torches, Metal Matt automatically walks on forward, the stage getting darker, until he sees Marnos waiting for him, he boosts forward to try to beat him up, only for Marnos to knock his head hard enough to incapacitate him and render him paralyzed, esentially crashing his systems, Marnos proceeds to talk to Metal Matt, telling him how we has even found, his answer being "I AM GOD", Marnos proceeds to stomp his face until finally decommisioning the machine, Game Over.
HOWEVER if you take a different route, you are able to access secret stages, which reference ProbablyMatt's friends' exe games of their own, the first stage referencing ConradAndTheDudes.EXE, CTD75's exe game, which is an inside joke he made about his webseries, involving Willy, Austin and Doorknuckle, the second stage references Uzignition by TylerTheInkDevil, a Murder Drones EXE game, which are just silly little friend jokes, the third secret stage however is when things get serious, Metal Matt gets taken to an unknown location, with a crimson sky and darkness surrounded, finding the corpses of Lenny and Brownie, until finding his own corpse, until it cuts to reality, as his corpse is seen in the darkness, meaning Metal Matt was already dead, and was experiencing a complete mirage, once that's done, Matt himself is unlocked, taking the place of Sonic, same as everyone else, Lenny being Tails, Brownie being Knuckles, and Metal Matt being Metal Sonic, replacing Eggman's role in the original Sonic.EXE game, Matt is inside a void, as Marnos talks to the player and Matt, stating that he forgot Matt was in there all this time, Marnos threw him away into a void so he had to do nothing to help his friends, during the onslaught, Marnos then finds Matt, he then reaches his arm at an attempt to take his soul from his body, but due to its long process, Matt looks at the player, smirking, as if he's got a trick up his sleeve, Matt charges himself up, and dashes away, bumping into Marnos on his way, foiling his plans, Matt runs off at the speed of sound, Marnos, enraged, screams that HE will not be getting away, Marnos charges at Matt, seemingly catching up to him, only for Matt to outrun him, because nothing can truly outrun THE SPEEDSTER, Marnos falls on the ground, he groans, looking forward, until Matt decides to pull off his ultimate move, he charges up a spindash, spindashes towards Marnos, once he realizes what comes for him, he screams in terror before getting SAWED TO DEATH, by Matt in his ball form, Matt has brought peace to his world and everyone can move on from the hell Marnos brought on the world.

- The Name 2008M comes from the fact Matt's birth year is 2008.
- Brownie and Lenny are characters owned by RemytheRandomGal and LembinoOrLembi, who are Matt's closest friends.
- Marnos and Matt 2008 may not continue officialy, as the dev behind it is tired from making the game, as stated in his message at the end of the secret ending.

- Matt 2008 had an OLDER version before the one you know, it was originally gonna be Sega Genesis styled, with sprites and 16-bit shenanigans, but due to Matt forgetting about it, he just let the original game behind, until he remade it with high quality sprites and now we have Matt the Speedster
- This old version of Matt 2008 was originally called Matt Mania, referencing Sonic Mania, and the third character WASN'T Metal Matt, but another friend of Matt, known as Robster or Roberta
- This old version of Matt 2008 also had Marnos have red shoes with a white tip, instead of Matt's shoes but greyed out and rotten
- Marnos can be beaten, but only by a few characters: Matt, Brownie, Clara, Maverick and Adara, who are Matt's other characters which aren't seen in Matt 2008 but are confirmed to be alive, these characters can beat him due to them having a lot of strength, Matt beats Marnos because Matt is full of Determination and he won't let everyone down, Brownie beats Marnos due to being VASTLY stronger than any human out there, so with enough rage and energy, she wins, Clara, who is known to be a total softie and a sweet girl, if pushed to her breaking point, she can kill Marnos if she beats the hell out of him hard enough, Maverick is the Supreme Specimen, so if he cracks his inhibitor rings off, he can just DUKE IT OUT, Adara, she is a strong warrior and one of the greatest swordswomen, if she manages to spark out every flame in her body, she can incinerate Marnos.
- Madelyn, who was mentioned in the secret ending when Marnos tried to jog Matt's memory, would take the role of Sally Acorn in a potential sequel, either based off of Sonic.EXE 2 or Sally.EXE
- THE SPIKIEST LAIR as mentioned in the gamejolt page, is a reference to one of the mant Group Chats Matt is in on Discord, THE SPIKIEST LAIR is a reference to a Group Chat known as The Blue Shell Den.
- A lot of the things in the game are majorly inspired by Sonic.EXE The Disaster, an assymetrical Roblox horror game based off of Sonic.EXE, Matt loves that game the same way he loves Outcome Memories, so he referenced said games a few times, Park Hills when it begins raining is a reference to how in The Disaster, Green Hill is seen to be constantly raining, when Brownie dies, it's based off of how Knuckles is seen dead in You Can't Run when unselected, with a Metal Pipe through his head, while also being decapitated.
- Hidden in the files, are the full designs of the dead versions of the characters drawn by LoreyTheCutieTrans, and an image of Marnos hanging on a noose, in the sb3 file of the game, since the game was made in Scratch/Turbowarp, the files all got renamed with random letters and numbers, but in inside the file the game is in, the image was named "PUBLIC EXECUTION" which states the image isn't Marnos hanging himself and somebody did that to him.
