Matt Hubris, also known as Ifrit, is the secondary antagonist of the Creepypasta series Ben Drowned.

He's first mentioned in the Haunted Cartridge arc, then officially appears as a major antagonist in the Moon Children arc, and the main antagonist of the third and final arc, the Awakening arc.

He is a member of a cult called the Moon Children, who are driven by the Eternity Project. Once inside of the haunted Majora's Mask game cardridge, he tricks the protagonist Sarah into performing the 4th day glitch so he can remake the world, but is ultimately killed by the Father.

He is seen in the body of the Medicine Shop Owner's model.

Personality[]

At first he seemed very nice. He was well respected in his community, but after his true colors are revealed in the Awakening arc, he is shown to be very deceiving, manipulative, and evil, planning to do horrible things using the Father.

Biography[]

Haunted Cartridge Arc[]

At the end of jadusable.wmv, Matt's name appears on the save file. This foreshadows that Matt would appear later on in the series.

Moon Children Arc[]

Matt was discovered on youshouldnthavedonethat.net with the username "Ifrit", with his about page showing his name as "Rodney R.". He revealed important information when people found his email "ifritmoon@gmail.com". His name was revealed to be Matt, and revealed that Ben was a member of the Moon Children, Rosa is his "sister", and that Alex/TheLinkMissing is the Moon Children's greatest warrior. An hour after the First Cycle ended, youshouldnthavedonethat.net's main page music changed to Matt's Final Hour.mp3 and any emails sent to Matt would be answered with "Hang on someone keeps knocking on my door".

After the 3 day reset caused by Alex, youshouldnthavedonethat.net was set back in time by 3 days, and posts by Ifrit disappeared. Weeks after the disappearance of Matt, visitors to the site discovered many files, one of which being mhftt.txt. In the file shows a final message from Matt, saying that BEN must be stopped, and that many others may succeed where he failed. The message ends with two coded ciphers. The second cipher (decoded almost immediately after the file was discovered) turned out to be a warning to Kayd "Ryukaki" Hendricks (the sole participant in the ARG to have discovered the username and password to youshouldnthavedonethat.net's "The Truth" page, via an e-mail conversation with Rosa earlier in the arc). The warning simply read "KAYD HENDRICKS YOU ARE IN DANGER". The first cipher remained unsolved until 2018, but turned out to read "I SEE YOU THREE LIVE, CAN MY DEAR ROSA PLEASE LIVE". What this is supposed to mean remains unknown.

Awakening Arc[]

In The Last Hero.wmv, Matt finally reveals himself in the game as the Medicine Shop Owner Model. Matt informs Sarah that the entities in the game cartridge are way more than A.I like Abel said. Matt asks Sarah for help to finally get rid of the Father. Ben also shows up with Matt. Sarah then finds out that both of them have disappeared when going back into the Clock Tower in The Happy Mask Salesman.wmv.

Matt then finally appears in The End.wmv, where he reveals his true colors. He used Sarah to perform the 4th Day glitch so the latter could wake the Father and the former could use him to remake the world. He summons a flaming Happy Mask Salesman and mocks Sarah due to her accidentally killing all of the digitized souls in the cartridge due to performing the 4th day glitch.

Sarah then finds Matt in the sewers, where the latter senses that Jadusable had passed his power onto the former. He says he recognizes Sarah's face as "Hatred, Betrayal, and Fury", in which Circle replies that it's wrath, and Matt replies with "couldn't agree more". The Majora Moon Child beside Matt states that they now have complete control to the world thanks to Sarah, and that they will turn it into a "nightmare". Matt and the Moon Children then seem to combine with each other, creating Majora's Wrath. Majora's Wrath is extremely powerful and almost defeats Sarah. Sarah then plays the Song of Healing, causing Majora's Wrath to disappear. Suddenly, Matt appears again behind Sarah, saying that she should not have done that. The screen then starts glitching and Matt starts panicking and gets confused, and then fades away. The Father then appears in front of Sarah. In their conversation, the Father mentions that he had deleted Matt due to him threatening and attempting to "kill, harm, and threaten the natural order of the world". The Father says that what Matt tried to do was "incompatible with his parameters", resulting in Matt's deletion.

Trivia[]

Ifrit's avatar on youshouldnthavedonethat.net is a photo of a rapper named MF DOOM.
The username "Ifrit" comes from an Arabian mythological figure with the same name.
Jadusable mentioned that the original title of jadusable.wmv was Matt.wmv but the title was changed by BEN before its upload.
Matt's ominous side was secretly shown in the newspaper letter as the author M.H, writing "I'm done playing with you, ██ it's your turn [...]".
Before being placed into the Moon Children Arc, the Hubris arc was named after Matt's surname.
