Megatron is a main antagonist of Transformers: Prime fanfic "The Blood On Your Hands Is Something You Won't Lose. All You Can Choose Is Whose.". He is the tyrannical leader of the Decepticons and the arch-nemesis of Optimus Prime and the Autobots. He was originally a miner named D-16, who competed in the Gladiatorial Arena in Kaon and named himself after one of the original Thirteen Primes, Megatronus. This got the attention of Iacon data clerk Orion Pax, who supported his cause and gave him the opportunity to address the Cybertronian High Council. His darker ambitions and lust for power got the better of him, however, and when Orion was named Prime over him, Megatron vowed to take control of Cybertron itself, rendering the world uninhabitable in the process and exventually expanding his voyage of conquest and war to Earth.
History[]
Megatron keeps his canon counterpart's backstory, but with an additional detail of forcing his officers to use Dark Energon as a steroid for power boost. One of these officers was Starscream, who was disgusted by this process and how it affected him, making him decide to never use it again.
Returning from searching the void for three years and resuming command of the Decepticons, Megatron reveals to Starscream that he found a new source of Dark Energon, the "blood of Unicron", with which he could reanimate fallen Transformers as an army of the undead. Initially he considers killing Starscream and using his corpse for the test, but Starscream offers to use captured Cliffjumper instead. Before he could do this, however, the Autobots managed to track Cliffjumper down and raided their current location. Enraged by this, Megatron hits Starscream and, deciding it was not yet time for a confrontation with Prime, withdraws aboard the Nemesis and orders Starscream to blow the mine up.
After Starscream returns to Nemesis, Megatron uses his fusion cannon to intimidate Starscream in order to erode any of the respect the Vehicons had grown for the seeker over the past three years, before using it to kill one of the Vehicons as an example for his second-in-command. After that, he uses the Dark Energon's shard on the corpse, resurrecting it as a mindless zombie who kills few more Vehicons and tries to attack Starscream, only for Megatron to kill him and explain that, once he learn how to control the undead, he will lead the army of Terrorcons to tear the Autobots apart. Thrusting a shard of the material into his spark, he was filled with its power, feeling as though he was connected to Unicron's very thoughts. In order to test his new power, Megatron headed to the site of an ancient Cybertronian battle on Earth, one full of the remains of fallen warriors.
After his test, Megatron orders Starscream to set Nemesis to the Space Bridge. Arriving on Cybertron, he managed to resurrect the army of Terrorcons, before being informed by Starscream about the Autobots' arrival. Failing to notice that they managed to reverse the current, which would make the Space Bridge blow up from the energon powering it up, Megatron orders Starscream to get Nemesis to the Space Bridge, but he, refusing to risk the ship and lives of its crew, ordered Vehicons to navigate back to Earth. Space Bridge then explodes, putting Megatron into coma.
Later, Starscream found Megatron in the space and returned his comatose body to the ship, while removing the shard from him and hiding it to ensure that no one will try to use it for their own goals. Eventually, getting out of the stasis lock, Megatron beats Starscream down for taking his position from him. Later, he reminds him about his place while Starscream was in medbay.
After Breakdown was captured by M.E.C.H., Megatron was informed about it by Starscream and rejected his offer to save him, saying that he deserves that for letting humans capture him.
At some point, after being informed by Soundwave that Starscream took away his shard and deciding that Starscream planned to use it for his own agenda, Megatron went with his second-in-command to one of his energon mine, where he confronted him about attempting to mine energon for his personal use without his knowledge as well as stealing Dark Energon from him to kill him and use it for his own plans, and tried to execute him, only to be interrupted by the sudden appearance of Arcee, Cliffjumper and Jack Darby. Angered, Megatron opens fire at them, giving Starscream time to escape, an act that only increased Megatron's rage. Unfortunately, Megatron's carelessness with his shots ultimately brought the mine down on top of them all, with Megatron being completely pinned by rubble. Managing to get out on his own some time later, he returns to Nemesis, where he informs Soundwave about Starscream abandonning him in the mine and guessing that he will either die at the Autobots' hands or die from starvation.
After Soundwave returns to Nemesis with immobilized Airachnid, he informs Megatron about Starscream's decision to join the Autobots and the fact that he helped Cliffjumper defeat Airachnid, enraging him.
When Ratchet injected himself with Synthetic Energon, he eventually encountered Megatron and Knock Out and attacked them. Megatron managed to wound Ratchet, but was interrupted by Starscream's arrival. Megatron offers him to give up and returns to Nemesis, but Starscream rejects his offer and attacks him. While Starscream managed to hit his former master several times, Megatron managed to defeat him and returned with him to the ship, where he kicks Starscream away. When Starscream openly defies him, Megatron initially shows sincere surprise, before laughing at this and ordering Vehicons to lock him inside one of the cells without any medical treatment or fresh Energon. Three days later, he visited Starscream's cell and infected him with Dark Energon in order to find out will it be possible to control him. After the test failed, disappointed Megatron left Starscream in his cell.
