Mida Rana is a minor antagonist in the sci-fi drama story, Lovelorn: A Love Story, a rewrite of Yandere Simulator, serving as the main antagonist of the two-part Reflection arc of Saga 1.

She is a substitute teacher of Akademi Highschool and serves as the seventh “rival” for Ayano Aishi, but is the most deplorable of them, revealed to be a serial groomer and predator who has a history of grooming and molesting young teenage boys in previous schools, now having settled targets on Taro Yamada. She serves as one of the most deplorable characters Ayano faced.

Personality[]

Mida Rana attempts to keep a professional yet warm persona to others, appearing alluring and coy to her students and the “fun teacher” to keep them comfortable. However, belying that is a completely perverted mind with only interest in herself and her own hedonism. She is revealed to be a predator who preyed on young teen boys in her previous schools she substituted across the country, manipulating them and grooming them before molesting them, using her authority and threats to keep the kids quiet and get out of trouble. She is revealed to be completely obsessed with Taro Yamada, believing him to be only hers to love in a way none of the other teens “loved her.”

She only cares for herself and satisfying her own hedonism, keeping photographs and tapes of her actions in her basement which she enjoys to watch. She also plans to kidnap Taro and keep her in her basement to use him, an act it’s heavily implied she’s done for more before. Mida is also very emotionally unstable, with her calm allure immediately becoming broken once confronted by her actions, immediately resorting to violence when cornered as she rants about the teens enjoying what she did and how she didn’t do anything wrong.

Biography[]

Background[]

Not much is known about Mida Rana’s life, besides the fact she was a substitute teacher who taught across South Japan. She is also a serial molestor and epheboohilia, who preyed on teenage boys in the classes she taught, grooming and manipulating them before molesting them and even implicitly kidnapping them into her basement, where she’s record and photograph her horrific actions. Mida would get away with her actions using threats to silence the victims as she moves from school to school, eventually accepting a tempt job at Akedemi High School.

Reflection Arc[]

Mida Rana becomes a substitute teacher for Taro Yamada’s class after the teacher became sick, and she immediately became infatuated with Taro Yamada, deciding to make him “her’s.” Ayano, being disgusted over Mida preying on a teenage boy, has little qualms killing her, but finds Mida to be the most difficult to kill as she stays close to students and faculty alike. Thus, she has Info-Chan keep tabs on her through bugs in the classrooms, where she records Mida keeping Taro back after class for “talks” where she’d subtly hits on the uncomfortable Taro and attempts to seduce him. Taro rejects these advances, making Mida slightly nervous and angry before dismissing him from class, and Mida clocks out early. Ayano is prepared to have this and expose Mida but Info-Chan tells her to wait and to find more evidence, getting a lead over Mida’s prior history as other substitute teachers, finding it odd how she quickly leaves jobs.

Ayano decides to break into her house at night, investigating through before discovering her basement. Going in, she is horrified to see dozens of photographs and a mini-shelf of tapes of her prior actions against other students she substituted, and even finds a chair in the middle of the basement, eerily like her own she has. She then realzes she intends to kidnap Taro and subject him to the same abuse she objected other kids. Snapping at this, she picks up a blade and confronts Mida in the hallway, who angrily demands to ask who she is. Ayano, horrified and disgusted, yells at her before running at her, causing a large commotion that ends with Ayano stabbing Mida to death with the knife. However, she is so distracted by her anger and internal fear, she keeps stabbing even when the cops come, resulting in a police officer gunning Ayano down and the day resetting,

Ayano, completely horrified still, immediately breaks back into her house in the morning after she left and steals one of the tapes and some photos, going to school as Mida keeps Taro after class to Try and hit on him. Ayano then, in a move that shocks both her and Info-Chan, confronts her in front of Taro, telling him to get away and exposing her. Mida attempts to save face but when Ayano reveals the evidence, she is immediately horrified realizing she’s caught and gives way to rage, grabbing a pair of scissors and attacking Ayano, who yells at Taro to run. Mida manages to overpower and stabs Ayano in the arm before Taro hits Mida back with a chair and helps Ayano and the two run as Mida goes after them. She manages to shove them both down the stairs into the main hallway as she yells at Ayano for getting in the way and rants about Taro “loving her” and how she did the other boys a favor. However, she inadvertently exposes herself to the crowds of students and faculty who surround her and Ayano screams over who she is. Mida attempts to run before being tackled by Kyoshi Tachikawa and disarmed as the other students help Taro and Ayano. Police come and Mida is arrested for her crimes once they come and discover the evidence in her basement. Being dubbed as the “South Japanese Predator” and linking her dozens of more victims, Mida is sent away to prison, an action that is kept consistent even when Tiem Loops back, with those events being canon as Taro and Ayano (as well as the others) still remember it.

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

Strengths[]

  • Charisma - Mida Rana exhibits high amounts of charisma in order to lure others into a false sense of security and, further more, able to keep a professional curtesy to others to keep herself under the radar.
  • Authority - Has a high position of authority, which she uses to keep her job and use to get her way.
  • Above Average Strength - Being an adult woman, Mida Rana exhibits above average strength and capabilities of fighting against others. She is capable of attacking and injuring Ayano Aishi when not caught off guard.

Weaknesses[]

  • Emotional Instability - Mida shows to have a very unstable mental state due to her own obsessive nature and narcissism. Once rejected by Taro Yamada, Mida immediately becomes enraged and decides to try and kidnap him, and getting exposed for her crimes by Ayano sends her off the deep end and try and murder her in broad daylight in front of a populated school.

Relationships[]

Enemies[]

  • Taro Yamada - Object of Obsession; Attempted Victim
    • Mida Rana became infatuated with Taro Yamada when she became the substitute teacher for Akedemi. She focuses her attraction on him and tires seducing and grooming him into sleeping with her, barely able to contain her rage when he rejects her for making him uncomfortable and planning to kidnap him and hold him in her basement to make him “hers”. When confronted with proof, she goes crazy and attacks both him and Ayano, ranting that he never “appreciated” her love.
  • Ayano Aishi - “Rival”; Attempted Victim
    • Mida Rana is the seventh rival of Ayano and stands out as the worst one, despite Mida barely interacting with Ayano to the point she doesn’t recognize the student when finding her in her house. When Ayano confronts Mida with evidence of her crimes, Mida immediately becomes violent and resorts to trying to murder Ayano for “messing things up.”

Trivia[]

  • She serves as a dark reflection towards Ayano herself, being an obsessed woman towards another person who uses him for her own pleasure, and even has a basement similar to her for kidnapping.
  • Mida Rana represents the Sin of Lust, being a serial predator of teenage boys who takes advantage of them and grooms them for her own personal gratification, without any care of them being traumatized.
