Ultimorian Deity Minerva, formerly known as "Ultimorian Deity EVE", is one of the legendary thirteen Ultimorian Deities known for having created the multiverse from which the fabled Citadel of the Heart overlooks. In their original incarnations, all of the members were benevolent, even if some clearly had hints of malice in their overall desires. During Eidolon's takeover of the Citadel of the Heart, all thirteen Ultimorian Deities were banished into thirteen differing universes, with some of the Ultimorian Deities being flat out destroyed in how they were transported. EVE, surviving by possessing the mind of the renegade AI Naotolis, was forcefully ejected alongside half of Naotolis' mind when Naotolis herself was killed during an aerial fight above ancient Dinotopia. Landing on the surface as an egg-like pod, the regenerated life-form, now known as Minerva, is the reincarnated EVE with the mindset of Naotolis fused with her own. Due to this unholy fusion, EVE went from a benevolent but blood lustful humanoid to being an absolute immoral killer due to the negative influences from her "mother" Naotolis.

Personality/Behavior

Despite her mother, Naotolis, being a large ham of a villainous, the oddity with Minerva is how much more quiet and subdued she speaks; showing next to no emotion and often preferring to not speak at all, Minerva isn't even remotely like her mother except for one key element; their shared desire for blood to be spilled. With Naotolis, she was programmed with a vicious personality with the intent of killing Mirror M, but she was a failed prototype of many that was banished by Chronicler into another dimension. Minerva, inheriting her mother's abilities in addition to the abilities of her prior self EVE, is noted as being an incredibly calm, cruel, and joyless version of the monstrous nature of her mother. Unlike her mother, though, Minerva does not show any true remorse for her victims.

During her meeting with Ogthar thousands of years ago when she was very young, she was in a peaceful talk with her adoptive father regarding the Strutters; Ogthar had told her as to how he had desired for the Strutters to replace Dinosaurs even though he has an affinity for the Dinosaurs. Minerva calls him a hypocrite due to this; she believes that if the Strutters are to truly replace the Dinosaurs in any way or form, they need to be made into weapons against them. As she grew older, Minerva kidnapped some engineers and forced them into slavery to mine for her a material she needs to perfect an overly colossal Strutter. Minerva mentally broke the slaves she captured, forcing them into a violently inflicted Stockholm Syndrome to ensure they wouldn't dare betray her.

With her colossal Strutter built and several Strutters taken command of and given auto-pilot functions, she was reckless with her plan; to ensure she could do what she desired, she had to absolutely destroy Poseidos. In doing so with the usage of her gigantic Strutter, she caused the entire island of Poseidos to sink into the ocean, but due to the heavy injuries she sustained from the blunt weaponry used against her in the cockpit, she was trapped in her own Strutter as she sunk into the ocean with it. It wouldn't be until thousands of years later in which she used her ability to possess others more openly by arranging for an exploration group to revive her with a Sunstone before she killed them in cold blood once she no longer needed them. According to what happened in the War of Poseidos proper, she had slain all of her servants the mere instant her army was ready.

Weaknesses

Her armor, though sturdy and immune to damage from bladed, bullet, and heat based weaponry, was absolutely fragile when stacked against blunt weaponry. Her body is so specially designed to survive the heat of her intended target that that she couldn't adapt the metal in her body to prepare for the heavier damage blunt weaponry was capable of inflicting. Having been built to shred through sharp entities, she become a punching bag for Grandis due to the fact Grandis' armor was far too specialized to function against her offensive abilities, to where not much effort on Grandis' part is needed for him to absolutely kill her outright if he truly desired. Not only that, but even very primitive blunt weaponry such as reinforced bone material can actually harm her as well, such as when a Pachycephalosaurus rams into her and caused her to have a nasty dent in her side.

Design Notes

Minerva (CotH)

Concept design for the redesigned EVE as Minerva; the final design didn't feature such large hands, and her robe no longer covered parts of her tail.

Minerva's most recent design is based off of Cinder Fall's design of RWBY fame. Her joyless, monstrous personality is even directly based off of Cinder's Pre-Volume 4 role, but her goals are not exactly the same; Cinder desired power, whereas Minerva is a sadist with an extreme blood lust for carnage and war. Her metallic frame is also based somewhat off of Ultron's metallic body in terms of the fact her incredibly sharp structure is also what allows her to be incredibly durable, but at the cost of a severe weakness to blunt weaponry. The weakness to blunt weaponry is a reference to the attack that killed her original incarnation; a powerful, Grandinite baton wielded by Grandis to strike her down and dismantle her.

According to Shiramu-Kuromu regarding the drastic design alteration from her Neo Ultimorian Canon incarnation, it was because her NUC incarnation, according to him, completely missed the point of her original intents of being an absolutely monstrous villain. As a result, the redesign of EVE as Minerva for Citadel of the Heart is an unusual form of character re-railment since her new role effectively gives her the roles of both of her prior two incarnations; the Ultimorian Deity status and benevolent backstory of the NUC version, and the absolutely vile nature of her first incarnation. As a result, unlike the other UDs that have returned to being villains, she will not have a true redemption in this incarnation.

Her metallic frame posed an initial confusion with the author regarding how he was beginning to prepare for the Dinotopia AU, and how Minerva would fit in. At the time, he didn't know the series' recurring Strutters were powerful enough to tear apart the reefs surrounding the island, but now that he knows they can actually do so, her backstory in the fic has her involved in the sinking of Poseidos, the kingdom ruled by Ogthar who created the Strutters to replace the Dinosaurs. Her plan involving the Strutters and Dinotopia as a whole is seen as a better interpretation of the villainous version of Ogthar from the animated movie had for his plan due to how she differs from that plan with a more genocidal intent on her mind.
