| ~ Monika |
Monika (labeled The Deleter) is the secondary antagonist of Matt Say Yay. Like her canon counterpart, she is the president of the Literature Club from her game, Doki Doki Literature Club!, where she attempts to enter the real world, as well as causing the suicides of Sayori and Yuri. However, in Matt Say Yay, she has caused the deaths of the characters playing the game as well, and unlike her canon counterpart, she doesn't seem to be fully redeemed of her obsessions. She served as the main antagonist of the Doki Doki Kaiju Club! series and supporting protagonist of the Matt Say Yay x The RWBY TF Saga Twitter series.
Personality[]
Monika has self-awareness of what's real and what's not real. She knows she's from a video game, she knows her club members are not real, and she knows how to manipulate and even delete characters via their files. However, what really drives Monika is her desire to be in the real world and find real love.
However, in Matt Say Yay, when she is shown outside of her game, she still seems unhappy, likely because she knows she's technically still not in the real world. As a result, in her interactions with the characters, she tends to be very mean-spirited and irritable, usually threatening to delete them when they provoke her.
She is still apparently attempting to earn Matt's heart, as he is the admin and the real person who played her game.
Role in Matt Say Yay[]
Monika usually appears randomly in png videos, usually scaring whoever she comes across.
In the let's play series, Doki Doki Kaiju Club!, Monika plays her role like the original game, but notably speaks her dialogue aloud without the need of the player dubbing it, which freaks them out. Sometimes, Monika even says things that aren't even in the script, as if talking directly to the player. Additionally, Monika also appears to have the ability to delete those playing the game, however, given that only Aribunta was deleted when Sayori was deleted implies that this part of her abilities was limited to the the correspondent girl and player (for example, if Yuri was deleted, Baraba is gone too, and same with Natsuki and Nova). While the series got cancelled, it is implied that Monika and her friends escaped her game when everything was done, possibly brought in by either Melba or Matt, so they four can live on Kai-Land free from the game's limitations, although Monika kept her reality warping abilities, which would lead to chaos.
Monika sometimes appears during the time cards, but bickers with others when they don't do the job right or when they take her spotlight.
Known kills[]
Note: All characters have been revived offscreen
- Sayori (indirectly)
- Aribunta Giron Pool (likely indirectly)
- Yuri (offscreen, indirectly)
- Baraba Pool (implied, offscreen)
- Natsuki (offscreen)
- Nova/Emily Black (implied, offscreen)
- Dorako Hook Tsuifon
Trivia[]
- Monika apparently has the ability to change her voice.
- Monika's presence was apparently so bad, the admins created "delete Monika" buttons around the island.
- Monika can simply bring her file back when deleted, so deleting her is just a way to say "back off." Evidently though, getting deleted is really painful.
