“ | There's my sweet little baby! We've been oh so worried about you! (...) Oh darling, you know how momma worries. You've had your fun, but I think it's time to come home, don't you. (...) But honey, I need a yes. | „ |

“ | ENOUGH OF THIS. I have tried, and tried, and tried to make you see what a mistake you're making. Clearly you're too stupid to see that. (...) You better drop this act and learn to respect your mother this instant! (...) Silence, vermin. You can't decide things for him. (...) ...You've always been such a pathetic excuse of a son. | „ |

Marilyn Mairest, mostly known as Mother Mairest, is one of the two main antagonists (alongside her husband) of the mod, Friday Night Funkin': Soft. She is currently an actress and a model, while also being an abusive parent to her son as she tries forcing him to come home by any means and make him become a singer.
Appearance[]
Mother Mairest has long, light navy hair. Like her husband, she has glowing yellow pupils that turn reddish-orange when she is angry. She wears a light salmon dress with a light yellow collar, cuffs and a bow around the waist. She also wears light yellow heels.
During Week 5, she wears a red festive dress with a white fur trim, gold buttons and a black belt with a gold buckle. Her fingernails are painted red and green, and her heels are now black instead of yellow. She also has a red bow tying up her hair into a ponytail.
Personality[]
Similar to Father Fairest, Mother Mairest seems to be a kind parent who is worried over her child's safety, while also being somewhat dramatic, possible because of her occupation as an actress. This is false, as she is an abusive authority figure who does not take the word no for an answer. While her husband is able to keep some form of composure when he's upset, Mother Mairest completely lashes out and resorts to screaming whenever she is angered.
She also does not seem to think so wisely, as after her and Father Fairest lose in the song "Eggnog" in Week 5, they both reveal their abusive and toxic behavior of their child to the crowd in the background. Afterwards, they are shown to be sad, angered and/or disgusted, possibly meaning that their public image and reputation has been shattered now that their abuse had been exposed.
She is a hypocrite, as she tells Boyfriend that Pico was a bad influence to him and that he wanted to hurt him for his own gain, which is the other way around as she and her husband have been doing that to him. Like her husband Frank Fairest, Mother Mairest is homophobic as she dehumanizes Pico by calling him a "Pest" and a "vermin".
Pico himself even points out her hypocrisy and how he was the only one trying to protect Benjamin. This also makes her delusional, as she denies there being anything wrong with her family.
As a narcissist abuser, Mother Mairest also has selective misandrism, as she believes that men should be submissive and subservient, as shown as when she said that Benjamin is not allowed to make his own decisions, while still having love for her husband Frank.
In the V2 Update, it is shown that she will resort to hitting her own son if he ever dared to disobey her, as heavily implied when she says to Benjamin with a threat by saying "You know what happens when you disobey". After being beaten in the song "Spotlight", it is shown that within the cutscene that she attempted to hit Benjamin despite the two both being on a MOVING CAR, only for Benjamin to dodge it and for him and Pico to get away from her. Another example of this is also implied, as that Soft Monster has red markings on its hands.
History[]
Mother Mairest arrives at the train station Benjamin and Pico were at, where they were rapping against Grace (the Girlfriend of the mod) as they waited for the train. She takes the two boys on her limo and tries to convince Boyfriend to come home. He refuses and the mother and son have a rap battle. After Mother Mairest loses the first to fights, she loses her patience and screams at Benjamin to listen to her. After he once again denies her and defeats her in another rap battle, she begins to approach him with the attempt to hit benjamin, only for Benjamin to dodge her and with Pico acting fast as he grabs Benjamin and the two are able to escape by jumping off of the car and the bridge.
Mother Mairest again encounters her son and Pico again in Week 5 at the mall alongside her husband, Father Fairest. Similar to her husband, she acts as if the toxicity between them and their son had never existed and talks sweetly to him. After he is able to beat the both of them in another rap battle, Mother Mairest once again loses her composure and yells at him. Benjamin, who has had enough of their constant abuse towards him, shouts at his mom and dad, saying they were never his parents because of their torment before starting the next song.
It is unknown what happened to Mother Mairest and Father Fairest after the third song, as they are nowhere to be seen and they do not confront Boyfriend and Pico. It can be assumed that based on the disgusted reaction the crowd had when learning of the parents' abuse given to him, their reputations are now ruined. The mod's directory confirmed they will return sometime in the future.

Trivia[]
- Mother Mairest, alongside her husband, are arguably the most hated antagonists in the mod, as well as being considered one of the most evil villains of the Friday Night Funkin' community, even when compared to Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest. As while they do dislike the original Boyfriend, they never go as far as to abuse their own daughter while even gaining some respect towards the protagonist, while the parents in the mod are cruel, selfish and abuse Boyfriend if they do not go with whatever they say.
- Marilyn's character was based off of Mother Gothel from Tangled, Other Mother from Coraline, and an unnamed person.
- Some believe that Mother Mearest is less abusive to Benjamin than her husband is since she doesn't have a demon form like he does. However, the creators of the mod confirmed that they both played a big part in the abusive given to him.
- Marilyn is not a singer, instead working as an actress and a model.
- It is theorized that the Fairest couple was either booed out of the mall or Pico threatened them to leave with is gun in Week 5.
- In the next update for the game, a song titled W.I.L.P.O.C will replace M.I.L.F. The acronym stands for "Woman I'd Like to Push Off a Car".
- In the V2 update, Spotlight was given a cupscene for after the song is beaten, with it being shown of Mother Mairest attempting to hit her own son Benjamin, only for the latter to dodge it and escape with Pico.
