Villain Overview

Pedro, I don't want you near my daughter ever again. Regardless if you're working here or not.
~ Mr. Palomino's most famous quote as he fires Pedro.
You're from different worlds.
~ Mr. Palomino trying to justify his disapproval of Virgínia's relationship with Pedro.

Anderson Palomino, known as Mr. Palomino or just Palomino, is the redeemed main antagonist of rezendeevil's 2018 romance YouTube miniseries Apaixonados (In Love).

He is a wealthy businessman, father of Virgínia Fonseca and Ana Mosconi, as well as the boss of Pedro Rezende. When he learned about Pedro and Virgínia's interest on one another, he begins to opress their relationship and does anything he finds necessary to keep them from bonding because of Pedro's poverty, becoming the main obstacle between them.

He was portrayed by the actor with the same name, Anderson Palomino.

Appearance[]

Since Palomino's character is shown as a wealthy businessman, he is always wearing a descent attire typical of what men use when going to work or a formal occasion: a black button shirt, with another blue formal shirt underneath, and black pants. Palomino's physical appearance, given his age, also gives the impression of him belonging to a high hierarchy and a high position in power in his job.

Trailer (Non-Canon)[]

In the initial preview of the story, Palomino is seen only after Virgínia tells Pedro he couldn't be there at that moment, for her father would get angry. He sees them at the entrance and reminds Virgínia he didn't want her talking to people like Pedro, and tells her to get inside as he closes the door at Pedro.

Biography[]

Early Life and Background[]

It is unknown whether the reason for Palomino not having a wife was caused by her death, abandonment, divorce or if he actually never got married and his daughters are adopted, however, the latter is the least probable reason. it is only known that he had a rather medium-difficult life because of that, both in raising his daughters and his life in the job. Even so, Palomino is shown to have a strong personality, which possibly allowed him to go through his life's obstacles and overcome every situation he would come across. Throughout his lifetime, he gained a high position in his job, allowing him to be the owner of an enterprise.

Also, he always had a good reputation as for helping the poor and needy people, either financially or with their life problems, like offering them a regular job so they can have a good help in their lives. An example is Vilma, the aunt of Pedro Rezende, who is Palomino's most trusted worker, also implied to be trusted among other people, for a long time. But Vilma got sick and Palomino still needed someone like her to take care of his house's issues, and that's when Vilma tells him about her nephew Pedro, who was in need of a new job, and so Palomino went after him and addressed him the location of his house.

In Love[]

Meeting Pedro[]

When Pedro arrives at Palomino's house, he welcomes him and tells him he was spoken of very nicely and that he was very trustworthy for what Palomino needed him for. He tells him they were needing someone to do specific maintenance chores around his house, like taking care of the pool, gardening, minor electricity issues and fixing the door knob or lock, and that he would have a place for himself to keep his stuff and tools at the back of his mansion. Rezende tells him he had experience with these stuff since he had worked with it before. Palomino, then, presents Pedro his house and the places where he would work with, like the Living room, the backyard and the pool, also instructing him about if they would need to call a more specialized worker to take care of something Pedro wouldn't be able to.

Virgínia, then, arrives calling for her father, while they're in the backyard, telling him her air conditioner in her room stopped working. Palomino enjoyed the moment to present Pedro to her saying he would be working there as of the next week. They go to her room for Rezende to try and fix the air conditioner. After he succeeds, Palomino settles their plans of Rezende to start working there on the next Monday, and tells him he would provide him appropriate equipment for his shift.

The next Monday, the day Pedro starts his job, he goes to work, but tells Virgínia beforehand to watch how well Pedro does his job while he's out.

Initial Tension[]

After two days of no problems, he comes home from a meeting he rescheduled for something his second daughter, Ana, told him. She tells him she was going to Virgínia's room and heard Pedro talking to her and asking her out. Palomino disapproved it, as somewhat predictable, and goes to talk to them.

At first, he goes to talk to Virgínia, asking her if Pedro was in her room and what were they talking about. She says he was just helping her with her sadness while he was working, and that their talk wasn't anything much, but he still says he didn't want them talking or going out. As Virgínia asks what was the problem of it, he says they were from completely different worlds, since their level of hierarchy were very far from one another. Virgínia stops talking to him and agrees with him in annoyance after realizing their talk at that moment wouldn't lead to anything at all. Then Palomino leaves her room to talk to Pedro next.

Unlike when he calmly talked to Virgínia, he goes at Pedro with an angrier mood, asking the same questions about what he was doing with Virgínia in her room. He explains he was just helping her and giving friendly advices because she was crying in sadness for her crush have betrayed her with her ex-best friend, he also explains that when he "asked Virgínia out", it was actually an invitation for them to talk somewhere else in another time, since they presumed Palomino wouldn't like to see them talking during Pedro's shift. Even so, Palomino says he still doesn't accepts Pedro's kindness towards Virgínia and says they couldn't talk not even out of his shift, even mocking Pedro by asking sarcastically if he was a psychologist to do so, since Palomino believed the psychologist he paid for Virgínia were enough to make her feel better. He continues to talk angrily to Pedro, telling him he was not there to help or to talk to his daughters like he did, and that he would be fired the next time he knew they talked again, which makes Virgínia and Pedro find ways of meeting secretly out of her house and out of sight.

The next day, while Pedro is sweeping the living room, Palomino meets him while leaving to see a doctor, this time more calm than the day before as if he had let go of what he had scolded Pedro over. He also instructs Pedro to clean the back of the fridge and to fix its door rubber, or to call someone whose number he would give later in case he wasn't able to fix it, and leaves.

Unfortunate Decision[]

Because of Palomino's paranoia with not wanting Virgínia and Pedro bonding, they decided to meet in secret and they even gave their first kiss when they were alone in the kitchen, and Virgínia decided to tell her father they wanted to be together, or else they would not date.

Virgínia waited for Palomino to arrive from work to tell him she wanted to date Pedro. She initially was making him confused by giving him hints of who the boy who she wanted to date was, he didn't know who she was talking about even after she said his name was Pedro, showing he truly excluded Pedro to date her, but then he raises his voice in anger when she reveals her crush to be Pedro Rezende, who worked in his house. He argues with her, asking if she wasn't satisfied with all the boys in her school wanting to be with her, and where and how they would live if she and Pedro got married, proving he was worrying too much about their relationship and underestimating their capability of having a better life in the future just because of Pedro's current poverty. He keeps going against her even when she says none of what he thinks would affect her future or her life.

Then he decides to talk to Pedro alone and asks Virgínia to call him and then to go to her room upstairs. With Pedro there, he raises his voice angry again assuming their last talk had no results. Pedro pretends to not know that Virgínia liked him, but Palomino doesn't fall for it and keeps blaming Pedro for Virgínia being in love with him. Pedro admits at last his involvement in it as well and that he didn't fall in love with her intentionally, and that he would never want to harm her. Pedro tries to convince him it was just an accident and begs him not to involve his job in it, but Palomino doesn't care if he's capable of a better future than his current one and, even after considering it, he fires him, hypocritically denying his view on their relationship as discriminatory.

He then goes to Virgínia's room to tell her he already fired Pedro and emphasizing he didn't want them talking anymore, which leaves her in sorrow. Later, as Pedro leaves the house with his packed stuff, Palomino tells Pedro he didn't want him close to Virgínia, whether he worked there or not. But he later promises he would send a lawyer to settle all of Pedro's issues despite Pedro politely declining it, saying he always worked under the law.

Mr. Palomino's decision in firing Pedro from being his caretaker made both Pedro and Virgínia upset with him, which made them to meet in secret again and begin to date hidden from everyone else as to prevent Palomino from finding out they're still together, they plan tactics for every date they would have to avoid people around to see them as a couple.

Palomino's Redemption[]

But, already in a carelessly planned second secret date, they are caught by Palomino at the entrance of his mansion while they were talking, Palomino gets angry and says Virgínia she couldn't even talk to Pedro, then he forces her to get inside.

Their father-daughter argument begins again in the living room. Palomino keeps insisting he doesn't want her to date Pedro because of his poverty, since he believed their difference of hierarchy was the main reason that have to separate them. He keeps arguing with examples of other boys she could be with and the other things he would punish her with, like confiscating her credit card the same way he did with her phone and not letting her drive his car. She sarcastically asks him if he didn't want to take her bedroom from her too, he even says she would become a nun if necessary, all to prevent her from getting together with Pedro.

But Virgínia finally hits his weak spot by threatening to leave home and abandon him for good, saying she would rather be poor but, at least, free than having to live in a house where her father would not let her live her life peacefully and where her own sister keeps pushing her around. Since Palomino's delusions about the differences from her to Pedro were only to make sure Virgínia had the best, Virgínia's threat in leaving him was what made him truly afraid and realize there would be nothing he could do to keep them away from each other if it costed her welfare. He thinks again and says that maybe he could understand their relationship as long as they took it slowly to make him get used to it in his own time. Virgínia promises their relationship would develop gradually, then he lets her go from being grounded and gives back her phone, allowing her to call Pedro and invite him to her house, enjoying the time Palomino finally accepted them to be together.

The next day, while Ana was yelling angry at Virgínia and Pedro for being finally dating, Palomino catches her and grounds her, this time, taking the two things she was most addicted to, which was her phone and her credit card, making her leave the room in anger. Both Palomino and Pedro apologizes to each other, Palomino for Ana's misbehavior and Pedro for coming to his house, but Palomino says in joy he could go there whenever he wants, surprising Pedro for his complete change of personality.

Later that day, Palomino admits to Pedro that all he ever wanted was Virgínia's good, and that now he believes he is the one capable tp make her happy the way she deserved, which Pedro grants him that's what he wants most, since he has never loved anyone like he loves Virgínia. Palomino also offers Pedro an opportunity to get a job in his enterprise, which Pedro accepts and Palomino schedules his application for the next day.

After that, it is well implied that Pedro got hired in Palomino's enterprise, allowing him to have chances of being part the high hierarchy with it, also that Palomino kept supporting Pedro and Virgínia's relationship forever, making sure both got the best happy life they deserved.

Personality[]

It's not your dad's fault either, but... his mind is very limited.
~ Pedro to Virgínia about her father's stubbornness in not agreeing with their relationship.

Palomino has always shown himself as a good person, worker and father to his family, and never shows bad intentions towards any person. After his caretaker Vilma got sick, he hired her nephew Pedro Rezende with open arms to take her place at taking care of his house. He kindly presented him around his house and where he could stay to keep his stuff whilst working there, presented him his daughters, told him his aunt spoke nicely about him and treated him politely every time he crossed him while working. Since Vilma got sick, he, with the help of other wealthy people, helped her in the hospital with her financial issues, so she can get better, free from worries about money. That tells that Palomino is a good person that helps the needy and the poor.

His true conflicted side comes when Ana tells him Pedro was talking to Virgínia in her room and asking her out. Just like Ana did, he immediately stands against it and criticizes it, even if it was for Pedro helping her when she was sad for both her crush and one of her two best friend sbetraying her. He says to both of them they belong in different unmixable worlds, since Pedro was poor and Virgínia was very rich, he even mocks Pedro by asking him if he was a psychologist to be allowed to talk to her, and demands him to keep his distance from her.

He shows the worst side of his paranoid belief when Virgínia confessed her love for Pedro after they were both consenting. He repeats everything he said to Virgínia the last time, and also takes a measure that drops the mood of the story, that is firing Pedro and saying he didn't want him close to his daughter ever again, regardless of where he was working.

But Virgínia wouldn't let her father be like this that easy. Pedro and Virgínia decided to date hidden after Palomino fired Pedro from his house, and in one of their secret dates, they were caught red-handed together by Palomino at the entrance of his house, which enrages him again and makes him threat Virgínia to do whatever it takes to keep her away from poor people, especially Pedro. But, fortunately, he has a change of heart when Virgínia threatened running away from home if she had to forfibly endure her father's control freak behaior over her own love life, since he had already grounded her by taking away her phone, then he wanted to take her credit card, TV and, possibly, her own room. He decides to accept them dating, as long as their relationship was evolving gradually, so he could get used to the situation better and get adapted to Pedro's current conditions.

His change of personality gets even more satisfying the next day, when Ana catches Pedro and Virgínia kissing. She gets angry and begins to think that her father's permission for them to date was insane, but Palomino catches Ana lashing out at them and grounds her by taking her phone and her credit card for her misbehavior. After that, he apologizes for how she acted and gave Pedro a brand new chance of getting a better job in his enterprise, since there was a place for someone to be hired. That moment surprised both Pedro and Virgínia, especially when Pedro notices how much he has changed after Virgínia faced him.

Since then, it is believed that Pedro and Virgínia were well accepted as boyfriend and girlfriend and always got the support of Palomino for anything they needed, since Pedro wants to always make Virgínia happy, hence making both himself and her father happy and fully trusting Pedro.
