Villain Overview

Why don’t you come join us? Had a long day, haven’t you? Better hurry home before it gets cold... tick-tock..
~ Mr. WPNZ before running off to Karen’s house - his most infamous quote.
C'mon kids... Pick ya' poison.
~ Mr. WPNZ's catchphrase to Zach, Katie, and Cory.
I… WILL NOT BE DEFEATED… BY MY OOOOWN WEAAAAAPOOOOOOOOOONS!!!!
~ Mr. WPNZ’s raging breakdown whilst fighting Karen and her kids.

Mr. "WPNZ" Katphish, better known simply as Mr. WPNZ (pronounced as "Mister Weapons"), is a major antagonist in the 2011 adult-animated Australian series SMG4, serving as a major antagonist in The Showgrounds Era.

He is one of the two main antagonists (alongside Mr. Puzzles) of Season 15, serving as the main antagonist of The Karen Arc and SMG4 Movie: Silence Of The Cats, and one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Toomp) of the Prison arc.

He is an assassin who has various weapons and technology as biological parts of himself, the former work partner and ex-husband of Karen, and the father of Zach, Katie and Cory, who after years away from Karen’s life, finally wishes to “reconnect” with the family, ordering Mario to kidnap Karen’s three children so he can properly bond with them. However, said method of bonding proves incredibly reckless and psychotic, which reaches a breaking point upon him bringing the kids with him on a deadly mission. He alongside Toomp are the current representatives and Right-hand of Mr. Puzzles.

He is Karen’s ex-husband turned arch-nemesis.

He is voiced by Gianni Matragrano, who also voiced Cynte in Endoparasitic, Sebastian Solace in Pressure, Gabriel in Ultrakill, Stalker in Warframe, Satan in Antonblast, Mr. Bullet in Mullet MadJack and Breadhead in The Gaslight District.

Appearance[]

Mr. WPNZ’s Minecraft avatar depicts him as a grey figure with ears. For clothing, he appears to wear a white shirt with a grey jacket with matching pants, with a dagger around his neck. His accessories also include a pair of goggles, armored shoulder pads and leggings. In the episode "Enough is Enough" Mr. WPNZ's glove is shown. It appears as a Silverish Glove with a thick wristband with spikes on it, it can change itself into any gun it wants and three black holes on the back of its hand. Its fingers' front part has holes.

As of Silence of the Cats Trailer, he was revealed to be a rather bulky humanoid-cyborg almost resembling a shark with sharp jagged teeth, feet that work like blasters, and hands that can transform into various weapons, like guns, chainsaws, and flamethrowers. His entire body is spiked with other miscellaneous armaments. He also wears a white shirt with a grey jacket with matching pants, a tie that looks like a knife, a pair of goggles (or unused turrets), armored shoulder pads and leggings, along with robotic gloves that are potentially controlled via mind, remote control, someone via proxy or somehow can be controlled.

Personality[]

Mr. WPNZ takes on a guardian-like role toward Cory, Katie, and Zack, but his version of parenting is twisted. He disguises questionable practices as games, such as gun training, in order to groom them to be assassins like their mother. While he might seem to care for them at times, he only ever truly cares about himself, (as Karen pointed it out) as he was shown to be manipulative with them when it came to participate in his missions, not to mention, he was more disappointed than actually afraid for his kids when one of them almost got killed in his heist at the Amazon headquarters. By the end of Silence Of The Cats, he is shown to see them as little more than extensions of himself, seeing as how he called them his "weapons".

He is shown to be ruthless and reckless to successfully achieve his goals, as he turns innocent people like Mario into practice targets and injures Karen's allies to isolate her. Obsessed with her and her children, he stalks them relentlessly, forcing her to keep them hidden. His expertise in weaponry and mechanics makes him extremely dangerous, often requiring multiple people to take him down.

Around others, Mr. WPNZ is shown to act as a charismatic, confident and sometimes kind person, which is all a facade to hide his true psychopathic nature, as he is in reality a sadistic and bloodthirty assasin that enjoys murdering others and inflicting violence. While he might have had a genuinely loving relationship with Karen, it was clearly out of mutual sadism before the latter left him to raise her kids, as he only care about others if they are strong in his eyes.

History[]

Back in his days with Karen, before becoming a couple, they were "business partners" (criminal assassins), who each did things their own way, making a killing--before WPNZ goes on, his ex Karen spins it into a lie, explaining that they were "caretakers", adding that it's part of her taking on multiple jobs, which the kids agree with. Continuing the story, WPNZ plays along, saying that they were real good at care-taking, taking care of problems permanently (killing as hitpeople), such as helping people sleep, for good, with Karen adding that it was only one client. Then, WPNZ comes to the "spicy" part, which was a big time client with high stakes, with the deal then going south (getting surrounded by thugs), backed into a corner. As they fought through, something bloomed between them, as they became well coordinated, working well together and all. That night, as Mr. WPNZ puts it, he and Karen "Katana" Katphish became partners, not just in business, but in love. As Karen puts it, it should have ended happily, but WPNZ left her all alone, to which he twists the knife, claiming it was she who left him alone, to clean up the mess. At that moment, the story turns into an angry argument between the ex-couple, as Karen reminds him that she was pregnant at the time with her kids, wanting to raise them together if he cared to leave behind the past, which he never did as she never gave him a chance.

Zack, Katie and Cory all spawn in Minecraft, and the next moment, the person who asked them to play spawns in, introducing himself as Mr. WPNZ; when asked why he invited them, he says he wants to play with them. WPNZ shows his gun, much to Katie and Zack's skepticism, as the latter points out that guns aren't in the base game, to which he shoots Mario effortlessly as soon as he spawns. This shocks the kids, as they are worried of their kidnapper's recklessness with guns, and getting invited to join in. At first they refuse, but when he asks about their mom, Karen, and what she'd think, Zack is the first to join. Happy, WPNZ persuades them to let loose a little, teleporting a shooting range close by, where there are targets and Mario. Cory is first to have a go, and he gets kicked back by the recoil, as he misses Mario. Zack is particularly excited to shoot, despite Katie's protests of not trusting him, but alas. Both of Katie's brothers go up and get trigger happy, as they chaotically open fire on the targets, while Mario frantically dodges their onslaught of bullets. Katie wants nothing to do with Mr. WPNZ, but he picks up on her not being happy, inviting her to join by giving her a gun of her own. At the shooting range, Mario is able to deftly dodge the onslaught, getting cocky, but a single shot lands on him, killing him; Katie is revealed to have been the one. Mr. WPNZ is impressed, choosing to continue teaching them shooting, with Mario again becoming a target upon respawning.

Back in Minecraft, Mario has just taken a whooping from Karen's kids, and they discuss how things were, with them thanking Mr. WPNZ for playing with them. Zack commends WPNZ for playing well, while Katie admits that they are able to trust him, asking if there are any more games to play other than Minecraft, and he says there is one, before Minecraft stops.

After Mario was taken hostage by Karen and SMG4, a stray bullet soon comes through the window, causing Karen to immediately pull herself and SMG4 behind cover. While another onslaught of bullets arrives, Mario thanks the walkie for saving him, but Karen sees this, making her realize Mario was working with the kidnapper (and SMG4 realizes the IRS isn't after him). Realizing that he has said too much, Mario skedaddles away, stopping when he hears Mr. WPNZ on the other end. He rebukes Mario for goofing off, to which Mario says he doesn't know where he is. At the same time, the bullets stop firing, so Karen and SMG4 come out of cover. Then, a signal flare is soon fired into the sky, which they and Mario notice and follow, with Karen and SMG4 following Mario as well, going straight to the kidnapper. Unfortunately, the signal flares turn out to be a trap, as they land right near Karen and SMG4, creating a blindingly bright explosion that disorients them, letting Mario get away.

Elsewhere, Mario has escaped into the building, calling WPNZ again, asking where he is. He doesn't answer, telling Mario to distract Karen and SMG4. The both of them arrive, with a furious Karen calling out Mario. He soon appears at the top of a flight of stairs, looking ominous. Karen threatens to hurt him severely, demanding to know where her kids are. Mario gets up, climbs down the stairs, but instead of fighting, he starts distracting the two, doing a familiar dance, much to Karen and SMG4's confusion. WPNZ gets irritated with Mario's incompetence, deciding to take matters into his own hands. The Swiss Army Robot arm soon bursts in, landing itself onto Mario's left hand, turning it into a gauntlet that indirectly controls Mario. The gauntlet attacks Karen and SMG4, flying like a missile and dragging Mario, hitting Karen to a crowbar, which she uses to duel and fence with Mario's gauntlet, knocking him back. The weapon soon sprouts a flamethrower, burning everything uncontrollably, as Mario panics, while Karen and SMG4 dodge the firebursts. As one last attack, the gauntlet then becomes a grenade launcher, firing one single explosive that SMG4 dodges, which annoys him, but the projectile lands in the flames, blowing up and SMG4 is unfortunate to be caught in the blast. Both Mario and Karen are horrified, as the robotic hand comes off Mario, crawling away. Karen checks the comatose Meme Guardian, and to her relief, she hears a heartbeat. Mario grabs SMG4 and fervently begs forgiveness for hurting him, tearfully saying "Mr. Walkie Talkie" told him to do this. When asked by Karen, Mario gives the walkie that Mr. WPNZ has been talking to him through, saying he was ordered to lead her and SMG4 to the top of the building for a "surprise". Karen takes the walkie-talkie, and soon spots the robot arm still crawling away. She pockets the walkie and picks up her crowbar, resolving to find her kids, telling Mario to get SMG4 to safety. Leaping through the fire, she begins her search for Mr. WPNZ, while Mario escorts the comatose SMG4 away.

Preparing herself, Karen carefully approaches to fight, but as she gets closer, she hears static coming from the walkie, which gets louder. Wondering what to do, she then places the walkie-talkie in the hand, which causes the arm to come alive and grab it, with the voice of Mr. WPNZ soon answering. Karen suddenly feels a big sense of dread coming over her, as she recognizes Mr. WPNZ. He casually converses with Karen, who is having none of it, again demanding WPNZ (or whoever he really is) her children. The kidnapper says he'd rather talk about how things have been, but Karen doesn't want a reunion. However, the lights in the room come on, showing large boards everywhere of various plans, all linked to the Katphishes, revealing that WPNZ had spent several years tracking them down, including Karen, and has finally found her, and her kids, having met them. Karen threatens to severely hurt him if he tries to harm her kids, but he calls her out for thinking of him as a monster, saying he's been making her children dinner, and wants to spend time with them all, inviting her to come home; Karen is shocked to see that in the very center of the plans, the family residence is marked, revealing that WPNZ knows where they live. The kidnapper talks to Katie on the other end, to which Karen demands to talk to her, but WPNZ makes an excuse, telling that she's busy. He invites Karen to come on over quickly, before crushing the walkie-talkie and escaping through the window running off to Karen's house, leaving Karen behind desaturated as she now has one place to go to; back to her own home.

When she arrived, the hand attaches to WPNZ, who greets Karen as she arrives. Inside the house, Karen finds her kids sitting with WPNZ at the table, eating his homemade pizza. WPNZ tries to make light of the situation, asking Karen to join them. Karen angrily grounds the kids, and they protest, saying that WPNZ was right about her. Karen confronts WPNZ, demanding to know why he's here. They fight, with WPNZ easily blocking her attacks while boasting about their past as assassins. He taunts Karen by calling her "Katana," her old assassin name, and they argue over their past and her desire for a peaceful life. The kids overhear the fight and ask why their parents are fighting. WPNZ reveals a shocking secret: he is their father. The kids are stunned, and WPNZ begins to explain his and Karen's past as business partners in assassination, though Karen tries to downplay it, claiming they were "caretakers" instead. He recounts a dangerous mission that forced them to rely on each other, eventually leading them to become partners in both business and love. The conversation quickly turns into an argument over who left the family. WPNZ expresses a desire for the kids to activate their mechanical abilities, proving so by cutting up and cooking the frozen pizza using his Swiss Army tools, but Karen refuses. In disappointment, WPNZ leaves.

The next day, while Karen is out shopping with her kids, she goes to a store selling security systems, where she see's Swag's new home security systems. However, Mr. WPNZ arrives and easily destroys it, saying that if the kids learn how to defend themselves, home security systems are pointless, but Karen rejects him. At a shooting gallery, the kids learn how to shoot targets, with WPNZ coming again to challenge his ex to a friendly match, which she refuses, leaving with her kids. Later at the playground, WPNZ arrives again, wanting to help their kids, despite Karen's protests, but WPNZ makes it clear that she can't keep sheltering them. Ultimately, despite his current growth, Karen tells him that it doesn't revert what he did in the past, and he sadly agrees to leave, but stops after he helps Zack ride his bike without training wheels, and the kids invite him to join them. Karen reluctantly agrees on the condition of no weapons. They ride together, and WPNZ encourages the kids to drive up an unstable pile of rocks. Zack and Cory succeed, but Katie is scared. WPNZ helps her, and she manages to ride up, causing an avalanche. Very soon, the kids' powers activate; Katie having cannon arms, Zack having a chainsaw head, and Cory being able to blow himself up; Karen is shocked while WPNZ is excited. The kids then practice their powers under their dad's guidance, while Karen stands by. Soon, when he invites them on his "mission", Karen grows alert, angrily stopping their kids from going, which leads to another argument between the ex-couple, as Karen realizes that he hasn't grown. WPNZ then tells their kids to make their choice, and they unfortunately agree to go with their father, leaving behind a sad Karen.

At Amazon's headquarters, Mr. WPNZ and his kids sneak up to the roof for their first mission, excited to be part of the action. Their mission is to steal a valuable set of golden Monopoly pieces inside, belonging to their CEO, Monopoly Man. The kids are excited, but WPNZ isn't impressed. He throws them into the building through the sunroof to test their abilities, triggering the alarm. Surrounded by Amazon guards, the kids struggle to fight back. Despite their powers, all three kids end up defenseless and scared, unable to kill someone, while WPNZ, angry at their failure, watches from the rooftop, fighting back himself, doing nothing to help. Just as things get bad for everyone, Karen arrives to rescue them, smacking a guard throttling Zack into a gas tank, causing it to leak. She shoots the tank, causing an explosion that takes out the guards.

After checking on her kids, WPNZ arrives and claims it's his weekend with the kids, leading to a furious fight between him and Karen. They argue over how to raise the kids—Karen wants to raise them well, while WPNZ sees them as weapons. Once more he throws her off, by asking the kids to decide like last time. Luckily, Karen remembers SMG4's advice about letting the kids choose, and tells them it's their decision, assuring that no matter what, she always will be their mom and love them. After thinking it over, the kids choose Karen, much to WPNZ's shock and despair. Enraged by his kids' choice to stay with Karen, he fully lost his composure, then violently lashes and roars at them, and attacks her with his chainsaw arm, trapping them in a ring of fire. He distracts her long enough to cut off her sharp claws, then throws her around, taunting her weakness. As he prepares to finish her off with his wave motion gun, the kids intervene, with Zack hacking off his leg while Katie and Cory help Karen. After waking up, Karen and the kids decide to defeat WPNZ together. Getting up on his one leg, WPNZ gets more furious and shoots his family, and Katie launches herself as a rocket to dodge his gunfire, with Karen kicking off his chainsaw, Zack then chops off his chainsaw arm, and Cory strikes and blows him up. Getting up one last time on his only leg, WPNZ finally loses what’s left of his sanity and opens fire with his remaining guns, only for the Katphishes to dodge, retaliating with more dakka, successfully overwhelming WPNZ. Mr. WPNZ is left defeated, with all his robot parts dismembered, unconscious. When he gets up, he sees Karen approaching him. He tries to have the last laugh, foolishly telling her that he made them stronger, but Karen shuts him up by giving him the boot to the face before leaving him in the cold, while giving him a permanent divorce.

Soon after, Mr. WPNZ is shown to be still alive, following his defeat at the hands of his former family, the Katphishes, is struggling to put himself back together, but being plagued by the memories of Karen and their kids demolishing him prevents him from being able to do so, and he just falls flat. WPNZ then lies out in the rainy streets, limbs and weapons dismembered, completely useless. He sighs in sadness, after everything that's happened, but things take a turn when he sense a screen on right in front of him, as he hears a familiar sounding voice, who expresses concern for him. Looking up at the source, WPNZ sees that it was a JumboTron above him, showing white static noise. The familiar voice speaks to him, at first angering WPNZ, whose anger gives way when the screen empathizes with him after everything that happened. He assures him that after everything that happened, their darkest hour, he needed something he needed most: a friend. Taking a close look at the static filled screen, Mr. WPNZ gets to meet someone important who asks if he wants to be his friend, all plotted by a recognizable face.

WPNZ abruptly rejects the offer, even as Puzzles points out how his fading memories of family have reduced him from a skilled assassin to a mere shadow of his former self, frustrating WPNZ. In response, Puzzles suggests erasing these memories and rebuilding him anew, reassuring him that his family despises him and questioning what else he has left to lose. WPNZ reluctantly agrees, reminding Puzzles to uphold his end of the deal. Puzzles then directs WPNZ to a junkyard on the town's outskirts, where they can remain in contact.

At the junkyard, Mr. WPNZ waits for a message from Mr. Puzzles, still dismembered and laying still. He soon hears Toomp coming, and is confused to see him instead of Mr. Puzzles. Toomp then goes to a nearby TV and places Puzzles' receiver on it, switching it on to show a news broadcast of Puzzles being sentenced to death, before meeting him again. Puzzles keeps his word to rebuild WPNZ, but because he is just a TV without a body, he asks Toomp to build him one. The annoyed Toomp gets to work, using whatever junk he can find, but Puzzles' temporary body proves to be of poor quality, which infuriates him. WPNZ meanwhile, lets Puzzles know of him impending doom, now that he's on death row because of his crimes, throwing Puzzles into a brief panic knowing that he's going to brutally die by the most cruel and most unusual prison tool destined for destruction, The Omnibus and Terrifying Death Cube. Frightened by knowing this would happen he gets to work fixing WPNZ, despite Toomp's desire to help, as well as Puzzles' own failing body interfering with his work.

Mr. Puzzles does whatever he can to put Mr. WPNZ back together again, but his attempts are terrible, which annoy WPNZ to no end, and he soon gets into a heated argument with Puzzles. While watching their argument, Toomp gets an idea on how to fix WPNZ, and tries to butt in, but Puzzles and WPNZ continue, and their argument is soon cut short when the former loses a signal for a call from Meggy Spletzer. Back at the junkyard, Mr. WPNZ waits, as Toomp approaches him darkly, only for makeshift Mr. Puzzles to come back online to see WPNZ. Puzzles disguises him as an old person and takes a selfie with him, to send to Meggy, under the guise of helping an elderly folk who was spending his last hours under his care just to free him without any sort of treachery.

While Toomp appears to again darkly approach Mr. WPNZ, he is knocked out of the way by makeshift Mr. Puzzles, who promises to make good on his word, willing to take the risk, to which WPNZ tells him that he'll "fly", admitting that he said something to one of his kids, the Katphishes, from when they took a risk which paid off, and he says he's proud of them, but because of their actions, they don't deserve to have a family. Puzzles curiously approaches him, before praising him for his stellar acting, offering him the lead role in his next play. Nonetheless, they all get on with fixing WPNZ, with Puzzles vowing to work until nightfall. However, Puzzles and WPNZ fall asleep into the night, and the latter is woken up by Toomp, who stares at him menacingly, then drags him into a nearby warehouse. Puzzles wakes up from his sleep, and is shocked to see Toomp having taken away WPNZ. Looking through the warehouse's window, he freaks out when he sees Toomp armed with a "buzzsaw" to "cut" WPNZ with, and breaks down the window to get inside. However, he soon sees that the "buzzsaw" is actually a gear, which Toomp is using to put WPNZ back together. He soon wakes up, limbs back on body, much to Puzzles' shock.

Mr. WPNZ is grateful to Toomp for having helped him, and Mr. Puzzles, feeling annoyed with how helpful he was to WPNZ, praises him, though Toomp isn't too happy. With Puzzles' side of the deal settled, WPNZ then gets down to business freeing him, however he is stopped by Puzzles, who tells him that he's got one last thing that he wants him to do, specifically visiting the Glitchy Gang at the Showgrounds. WPNZ immediately agrees, having been assigned a hit, and fist bumps Puzzles, accidentally dismantling his makeshift body. Despite this, Toomp takes out the receiver and gives it to WPNZ, who hears Puzzles giving him orders, so he takes Toomp and the two set out for the Showgrounds. Mr. Puzzles loses his connection with Mr. WPNZ, looking solemn over his new "pal", and as he awaits for his new ally, WPNZ to finish his first mission, so that he can later continue with his prison breakout, he fears that it's only a matter of time before the clock hits his execution soon.

You three.. you felt it, right? The RUSH? The POWER? That was only a TASTE of what you can do! Stay with me, and you'll never be weak or scared again! You'll be LEGENDS.
~ Mr. WPNZ trying to convince Zack, Katie, and Cory to stay with him.

~ Mr. WPNZ becoming furious after Zack, Katie, and Cory choose to stay with Karen over him.

Trivia[]

  • There are several hints during the Karen arc that foreshadow that Mr. WPNZ is Karen's ex-husband and the father of her kids.
    • One of his quotes 'it must be in your blood' while may come off as a witty remark, suggested the possibility that the children's skills may have been inherited from him, as well as Karen, due to her being a former assassin and him being an expert on weapons (hence his name).
    • His experience with weapons and outfit foreshadows that he had worked in the same assassin business as Karen, hence how they met.
    • His personality is also similar to what Karen mentioned in The Fight Of All Time adding to the connection, as she claimed the kids' father was "reckless and chaotic" like Swagmaster.
    • On April 2, 2025, a photo of him with Karen and her kids was published, with Mr. WPNZ's face being ripped out of the photo, hinting at the fact he was disowned from the family.
    • Karen clearly knew him before, given her reaction when she heard him, and the fact that he's been searching for her for many years, as well as him saying "No fun, no banter, straight business... I always liked that about you." strongly forshadowing their past relationship.
  • Him shooting Mario repeatedly in a video game may be a reference to One-Shot Wren.
  • Matragrano, his voice actor, also voices BreadHead in The Gaslight District.
  • Mr. WPNZ is one of the three SMG4 villains to use the prefix "Mr" in his name.
    • In fact, another one of those three villains is Mr. Puzzles, the main antagonist of Season 14, the season immediately before Mr. WPNZ's.
    • Ironically, after a near 6-month hiatus, he returned in Silence Of The Cats.
    • It could be said that he will try to help the person he met with his plans to kill SMG4's gang. Not only that, he could also be considered as a major antagonist of the Showgrounds era.
