Mundus is the overacting antagonist of Iron117Prime's Fairy May Cry.
He is the tyrannical Emperor of the Underworld and arch-nemesis of the entire Sparda bloodline. Originally a god, Mundus was stripped of his divinity and later sent to the Underworld, as punishment for his transgressions against the mortal world. With his cunning alone, he was able to obtain the power of the Qliphoth and overthrow the old ruler of the Underworld while planning to conquer Earthland as well.
But during the demons' invasion of the mortal world, the Dark Knight Sparda defected to protect it's inhabitants and with the aid from the Dragons, Sparda was able to seal him away to the lowest parts of the Underworld. Ever since then, he has searched for many ways to break the seal on his prison and have vengeance against his eternal nemesis and everything connected to his legacy.
Appearance[]
Although he has yet to make a physical appearance in the series due to his imprisonment, Mundus is depicted as an almost angelic-like being. In this form, he is characterized by a long beard and a prominent large hole in his chest, which is most likely a scar remaining from his ancient battle with Sparda.
Personality[]
Mundus is shown to be a tyrannical and sadistic entity who looks down on mortal beings and despises the Dark Knight Sparda more than anything for his defiance. His hatred of his sworn nemesis was so great that he sent demons to hunt down those he was close to among them being his human wife Eva and their twin sons Dante and Vergil.
History[]
The Rise and Fall of the Demon Emperor[]
Several eons before Sparda's Rebellion, Mundus was once a young god who used his power to conquer mortalkind until the other gods stripped him of his power and was thus banished to the Underworld. Overtime, he manipulated his way to becoming the Demon Emperor by obtaining the power of the Qliphoth fruit and killing the original ruler.
During his invasion of the mortal world, Mundus would be betrayed by his most trusted knight, Sparda. The Dark Knight would then lead a rebellion with the aid of the Dragons to protect the Earthland realm and sealing Mundus away in the deepest parts of the Underworld, an primary act that earned the Demon Emperor’s eternal hatred.
At some point a young Zeref would try to make a bargain with the Emperor so he could revive his younger brother. But thanks to Sparda, the young wizard tried to go back on the deal, Mundus cursed the child with a curse that not only made him immortal but brought death to everything around him.
Centuries later, the Fairy Tail guild’s second guild master Precht Gaebolg went to confront Mundus in Sparda’s name, but was inevitably defeated and became transformed by the fallen god’s power, as Precht became the dark wizard Hades who would later go on to create the Dark Guild Grimoire Heart in order to find Zeref.
Fairy May Cry[]
In the Edolas arc, it was revealed that he created and sent Nelo Angelo to infiltrate the Edolas Royal Army to prepare for his invasion of Edolas.
Mundus would later make his first major appearance when possessing Hades' corpse so he could communicate with Zeref who declared war against him.
