| ~ Navy explaining his plan to Night Shade. |
Navy Ribbon-Rose is the main antagonist of the Father & Son series of Animator vs. Animation fanfics. He is the archenemy of Purple and King.
He is Purple's abusive father who returned to reunite with his son with the intentions of transforming him into a brainwashed godlike weapon of destruction that would allow him to dominate the world. Throughout the various entries, Navy finds new ways to try and achieve his goal, including using his brother Night Shade to resurrect his ex-wife Orchid.
Roles[]
Navy is the main antagonist of Season 1 and the posthumous overarching antagonist of Season 2.
In Season 1, he served as the main antagonist of Father & Son, Father & Son 2: Tidal Waves, Apart But Together: Father & Son 3, Father & Son 4: A Family Curse and The Great Above: Father & Son 7, the posthumous overarching antagonist of Father & Son 5: Shards Of A Color Drained World and Father & Son 9: A Reversed Victory, the secondary antagonist of Father & Son 6: Shades of Future Night and Father & Son 10: In Betweens To A Winning Battle, and one of the two main antagonists (alongside Fern) of King Of This Kingdom: Father & Son 8.
Appearance[]
Navy, like in canon, is a dark blue stick figure with a filled-in head. Here, he additionally wears wristbands - known as the ViraBands here - that were stolen from the Dark Lord.
History[]
Backstory[]
Navy, like in canon, was Orchid's husband and Purple's father who abused his son to train him up into a fighter before leaving when he didn't meet his expectations at the age of 10. Here, he is additionally the leader of the Stick City from "The King", and one of its citizens is Gold - King's son who was thought to have died in a Minecraft simulation, having barely escaped the game a week before the events of the first entry. Since then, he has spent years trying to find Purple again, with his son having nightmares of Navy coming back to him. Along the way, Navy would reunite with his friends and brainwash them into completely lacking any and all emotion or memories of their past lives.
Season 1 (Father & Son)[]
Father & Son[]
During a meeting between the Stick Gang and Purple and King that took place in the Nether, Navy suddenly comes out of a Nether portal, demanding Purple comes. Sarcastically thanking King for taking care of his son, Navy kidnaps Purple by force by escaping into ALANSPC and destroying the portal before anyone else, except Red, can go through it. Back on ALANSPC, Navy claims he left his son because he was too weak, and when Red claims it's his own fault for being too harsh with Purple, Navy tries to hurt him. Purple tries to stop his father while Red runs for the Minecraft Game Icon/Master Block, but Navy throws the former at the latter, knocking them both out. As King and the Stick Gang find a way into ALANSPC via going into another computer and e-mailing themselves into it, Navy makes another portal and escapes through it with Red and Purple.
Back in the Stick City, Navy tries to welcome the citizens to Purple, but a cloaked Gold rescues the two by distracting everyone with an army of Endermites. Meanwhile, King and the Stick Gang get the Chosen One and Dark Lord's help to track Red and Purple down. As Navy and his men chase Gold, Red and Purple into the woods, they eventually come near the area where the heroes are. King tackles Navy to the ground before he and the Stick Gang reunite with their friends, but Navy summons a blade using the ViraBand and slashes Purple, leaving a deep cut in his chest while also cracking the ground. Gold panics and decides they need to take Purple somewhere safe, the two and Red escaping together. Navy quickly explains why: Purple has been struck with power beyond even the Master Block, which Navy wants to use to rule the world. He gives the heroes 24 hours to bring his son to him before he leaves with his army. The heroes are forced to run as ViraBots working under Navy arrive to kill them.
While the ViraBots attack the Stick Gang while Navy's men try to kidnap Purple, Dark and Red eventually find each other and end up in an area called the Forest of Shards. They find Navy, who proclaims that if he manages to merge the powerful shards with Purple's virus and the power of the Vira-Band, he could brainwash Purple into obedience while making him strong enough to let him take over the world. He escapes before they're able to do anything to him, and captures the Stick Gang, Chosen and King in a large nest via helicopter. Another helicopter captures Purple, Dark, Red, Gold, as well as his childhood friends - Sapphire, Copper and Scarlet.
Everyone except, Red, Dark, Gold and Purple is dropped off in one part of Stick City, with these four being dropped off in another part of the city. The remaining heroes use Yellow's Command Block Staff to bust in and try to save Purple, but Navy puts up a fight by using the ViraBand to summon dark blue electricity. He ultimately gets away with Purple, but every other is finally together again. Navy plans to brainwash Purple via making him comatose and making him go through all the memories he's repressed until he breaks and becomes his minion. He decides to stall the heroes by fighting them, eventually ending up in a 1v1 battle between himself and King with the Command Block Staff. Just as the other heroes arrive to help him, Navy steals the staff and slams it and the ViraBand together, forming a new, stronger staff as a purple cyclone appears.
Meanwhile, Purple is going through his memories alongside his negative counterpart, Dark Purple. They memorize how Navy would often hit him or Orchid, how he claimed he was just training Purple in case someone wanted to hurt him, how he was once a good father before he started getting worse, before Purple eventually finds two lights representing his parents, urging them to join his family or stay with his friends. He chooses the latter option, as a result of which all his inner demons try to break him together, but visions of King and the Stick Gang arrive to comfort him together, causing Purple to break out of his comatose state and fight Navy in the real world after having found a leftover ViraBand.
The final battle begins, all the heroes coming together to try and kill Navy, who had now the power both of the staff and his original ViraBand combined into one. He eventually sends a massive beam at Purple to kill him, but he manages to fight back, slashing Navy's weapon so hard the staff and ViraBand separated, the latter disintegrating. As the rest of the heroes escape on his orders, Purple confronts Navy in one final battle, the latter trying to convince the former King is no better of a father than Navy himself is with how he treated Purple in the past. Just as Purple manages to knock out Navy, the building starts collapsing, with Purple deciding to sacrifice his life to save everyone else, with only Red not getting out in time as the building collapses on top of them both. Thankfully, they both come out alive, but so does Navy, who escapes while promising he'll return.
The fic ends with Chosen and Dark going onto ALANSPC, warning everyone that they cannot leave the computer, as Navy is back and now wants to kill Purple.
Father & Son 2: Tidal Wave[]
Navy sends the heroes a message warning them that he plans to kill Purple. Soon afterwards, a somehow-resurrected Orchid arrives to ALANSPC, with the heroes realising she's being controlled by Navy. Once a new pack of ViraBots invades ALANSPC, Dark goes to deal with Navy himself, only to end up kidnapped. Navy makes a call with Alan and the sticks and threatens that if he doesn't get Purple, Dark will die. Purple accepts to go, claiming he will rescue Dark while making it out alive. However, when he's captured and imprisoned, Dark refuses to leave Purple alone with Navy. Now that he has Purple, massive rays of energy blast throughout the roof of the building, painting the whole sky a dark purple color.
Gold, Sapphire, Scarlet and Copper witness the sky's change in color and rush to ALANSPC to warn the heroes. Meanwhile, Navy explains he's using this power to fully take over Stick City, and when Dark points out he nearly destroyed half of it in the last entry, the dark blue stick figure claims it's not his fault as Purple was too weak to stop him. Purple stands up to his father, breaking out of his cage and destroying the energy beams. Just then, the heroes arrive to save Purple and Dark. A spiteful Navy throws a blade straight at Purple, with Dark sacrificing himself by pushing Purple out of the way. Navy escapes while everyone else is distracted, and it's revealed his Vira-Bands are different from the ones Dark had. When the heroes are busy talking to each other, Dark's body mysteriously vanishes and a blank-eyed Purple stands next to Navy, claiming he is his real father and not King.
The heroes realise Purple has somehow been brainwashed, and that the brainwashing has given him powers stronger than even those of the Chosen One's. Navy runs away while telling Purple to kill the heroes, and King tells everyone else to run so he can free Purple from the mind-control, with Purple eventually managing to break free. He then manages to resurrect Dark using some technology in the building before going off to confront Navy, as well as Orchid.
When he does, he is followed by all the other heroes. Purple snaps at Navy and screams out at him, rightfully claiming King and the Color Gang cared about him more than Navy or even Orchid ever did. Once King himself starts calling out Navy for his horrible actions, he has a large ViraBot drag Purple over to him so he could inject the boy with a needle, once again gaining control over him. Navy proceeds to then teleport away alongside his wife, son, and guards, plotting to re-begin his plans. However, the heroes have already figured out his backup plan and manage to yet again free Purple from his mind control.
However, Navy proceeds to equip a ViraBand and try to kill Purple before recreating the energy blast that turned the whole sky dark purple to fulfill his plan, it being revealed that he has actually planned to destroy Stick City all along. Dark confronts Navy in battle, taking all of his attacks as he tries to take off the ViraBand, the latter eventually unleashing a blast so big the whole roof collapsed, with it seemingly killing Dark for the second and final time.
While the heroes were busy recovering and preparing for the final battle, Navy proceeded to begin his takeover of Stick City, fighting and destroying several military planes, killing numerous people while causing chaos. He'd eventually find where they were and attack them. During the battle, Purple would take off one of his ViraBands and equip it to fight Navy, and the two would fight until the former would be caught in the latter's blast, slowly dissolving. At the last moment, the two ViraBands would make contact, causing a massive destruction and seemingly killing both Navy and Purple.
However, the last chapter reveals both Dark and Purple survived, though kidnapped by the equally-living Navy.
Apart But Together: Father & Son 3[]
Purple and Dark manage to escape and send out a note to King saying they're alive, though Navy sends out ViraBots to find them. Once the heroes receive the note, the Second Coming decides to go rescue the two by himself before using Dark's shack (from "The Showdown" of the main series) to send a message to the heroes. However, Navy intercepts it, sending guards to the shack while travelling to ALANSPC himself to imprison the remaining protagonists in a folder inside the computer. Meanwhile, some of Navy's men reveal to Purple that they plan to give amnesia so King would not be able to save him from brainwashing.
When Navy returns to his base, he reveals to Orchid he has a weapon that will render Purple unable to feel any emotion, as well as remove his color and his memories, making him a perfect minion; similar to his guards. He proceeds to do exactly just that, but Second and Dark manage to get knock him out and get Purple to King, making the latter enter Purple's head so he could make the boy remember his memories. He succeeds in it, though not without encountering a demonic representation of Navy made up by Purple's mind.
Navy eventually re-awakens and launches a ray of power strong enough to give him control over Stick City in seconds. However, he's suddenly jumped by the Stick Gang and their allies, all of whom have brought weapons to fight him. Purple plans to enter Navy's mind and confront him inside it by injecting both himself and his father with the same serum; this plan succeeds, and the two confront each other in the Void.
Navy once again tries to deflect blame as Purple starts calling him out for his awful actions while fighting and punching him, but the two eventually manage to leave it. Navy confronts his redeemed wife and proclaims he will trap Purple in the Void forever. Off-screen, he defeats her in battle and finds Purple, stabbing him in the back, completely erasing and killing him. An enraged Orchid confronts him, and among the battle, Navy proceeds to kill Dark and Second as well, but the combined efforts of Yellow, King and Chosen manage to knock out Navy and let the heroes steal his Virabands to render him harmless. While he's out, Orchid sacrifices herself to resurrect Dark, Second and Purple. The remaining heroes decide to kill Navy using his own ViraBands.
While the heroes were busy, Navy has been continuing his plan to brainwash all of Stick City into following his orders. He is suddenly confronted by Purple, Chosen and the remaining heroes. Getting an idea, he throws his brainwashing formula at both Purple and Yellow, with it exploding and brainwashing both of them into his minions. He sics them on the Color Gang and their allies, and while most of them are busy with Yellow and Purple, Dark steals Navy's Vira-Bands before he's forced to fight Second and Red.
By the time Purple and Yellow are freed from their brainwashing, Navy starts recovering from the fight, which he lost. Purple, wearing a ViraBand, charges straight at his father, who fires a ball of energy at him. Purple manages to stab Navy, but not before being hit by the energy. Thankfully, Purple survives while killing Navy, seemingly ending his threat once and for all.
Father & Son 4: A Family Curse[]
It's revealed that, during Purple's childhood, Orchid told him a story about her life she masqueraded as a fairytale: When her parents married, an elderly man warned them that their child would be cursed with incredible power, which would come true when she started growing up. When she married Navy, the man announced the powers would be passed down to their future child, Orchid teasing Purple on whether or not he possesses those powers now. Now, Purple suddenly has a dream where Orchid's spirit warns him that the curse from that story is real and coming for him.
Suddenly, a blue-and-purple whirlpool appears on the desktop and attacks, vines crawling out of it to attack the heroes, injuring Dark and Purple and causing them to pass out. They eventually awake, and Chosen speculates that Navy might have returned, with Dark adding that he might be the curse. They decide to trick Navy into thinking Purple is dead, figuring out he wants to avenge his death, but deep in a forest, vines creep around Navy's vaporized corpse as he orders the curse to begin, bringing Purple massive pain, although not killing him. Purple decides to find and confront Navy alone, the heroes realising that while he might be dead, his ghost could be around and seeking revenge.
Purple goes to the temple where Navy's remains were left, but Dark and Second follow him. They eventually find Navy's tombstone, where they encounter his corpse puppeteered around by his ghost. Navy reveals that Orchid hadn't died of a virus: She died of the Curse, which Navy himself created, enraging Purple once he sarcastically congratulates him for figuring it out. Navy teases that once Orchid's passed-on powers will overload Purple's body, he will be comatose for a bit, enough for Navy to recover and achieve the power he wants. The three decide to run back to ALANSPC, encountering Gold and his friends along the way, just in time to see Navy has resurrected Orchid as his brainwashed minion. While Dark manages to defeat her, just as Navy predicted, Purple falls comatose.
Inside Purple's mind, he confronts Navy's spirit, who once again tries to convince him to leave behind King. However, Orchid's spirit stands up for King this time, and the King manifestation once again calls out Navy for being an awful parent. Meanwhile, Navy's physical body tries to kill King back at ALANSPC, but a newly-awakened Purple stops him. A new battle begins, which ends with both Navy and Dark going missing.
Later on, when the heroes think of a way to stop Navy while Purple and Chosen are busy fighting Orchid, he suddenly attacks with a Vira-Blade, aiming for Red but hitting Yellow instead, killing him. When Orchid mind-controls Purple just for him to break out of it, she and Navy proceed to kidnap him and Chosen. Dark goes to rescue them, but mistakenly assumes they've died when the temple collapses under them; in reality, Chosen was knocked out while Purple takes on both his parents at once. Eventually, Purple launches a blast of energy so bright it blinds everyone and creates a shockwave. The blast is strong enough to kill Navy once and for all, although Orchid survives and prepares her revenge against the heroes.
Father & Son 5: Shards Of A Color Drained World[]
While Navy is dead, it's revealed he and Orchid were friends with a man named Night Shade, who speculated Navy might've left Purple due to being afraid of his growing powers. Night Shade secretly worked with Navy during the first four entries, but was afraid of him. Later on, Purple has a vision of Night Shade and Orchid working together to bring back Navy, kill Purple and resurrect him without his memories to help them in their plot of world domination. Later on, Purple has numerous visions of Navy in a submersion tank, which is where Orchid held his corpse.
Later on, after receiving a vision of Night Shade killing King and all his friends, Purple encounters Navy in his mind. He once again tries to claim he is Purple's real father, but the enraged boy, realising his powers come from fear and anger, attacks the spirit and destroys it.
At the end of the fic, Orchid's barely-living body is put in a submersion tank next to Navy's, Night Shade plotting to bring back them both.
Father & Son 6: Shades of Future Night[]
Somehow brought back, Navy works with Orchid and Night Shade to accomplish his goals. When they manage to send Purple into the Void, they send out a "Agent Fernando" to investigate and spy on them. Meanwhile, it's revealed Purple has completely lost any and all memories after returning to the Void. Soon after, Navy sends a note revealing that he has sent out guards to ALANSPC to take Purple to the "Great Above" and brainwash him. They manage to kidnap Purple, but Red goes with them.
Thankfully, one of Navy's guards was a friendly woman named Willow who was friends with Gold in elementary school, who helps Red in regaining Purple's memories. Additionally, all the heroes realise Night Shade is the reason for why Navy keeps coming back due to his resurrection powers, and thus the true villain and biggest threat. In the void, Navy once again comes across Purple, but due to Dark and Second entering his mind, they help him fight his father. Halfway through, they realise they aren't in Purple's head but a dimension created by Navy. He reveals that "Fern" - the Stick Gang's newest friend, older brother of rogue guard Willow and King's friend from high school - was in fact the Agent Fernando that Navy deployed near the beginning of the fic. The trio escape briefly, but are later arrested when Fern unleashes drones on everyone.
At the end of the fic, Navy finally opens the portal to the Great Above; a whole new dimension that he wants to conquer. He, Orchid and Night Shade enter it together, managing to capture Purple, Willow and Sunny with them, alongside dozens of innocent citizens.
The Great Above: Father & Son 7[]
Navy rules over his kingdom in the Great Above, with Orchid as his queen and Purple as the prince. Night Shade is working and creating a project for them, one that will apparently let them take over the entirety of both the Great Above and the Outernet. Additionally, he also resurrected and brainwashed King's wife Amber, who quickly finds and arrests Blue and Yellow after killing the Ravager Family; satisified at this, Navy proclaims the battle can finally begin. Additionally, he finds and brainwashes Willow after mistaking her for Purple.
When the heroes try to break into the castle and defeat him, they realise Navy was expecting this and already had them cornered. He reveals that he'd be fully willing to call off the war with the heroes as long as he gets to kill Purple's friends, just to see him on his lowest. However, just then, Purple enters the room. He claims Navy and King are both similar and treated him like garbage, causing everyone to realise: Agent Fernando brainwashed Purple when no one was around, and made him turn against Navy. Purple uses his powers to usurp Navy and try to kill everyone in the room, forcing the conflict to stop and everyone to flee.
King Of This Kingdom: Father & Son 8[]
Navy is mentioned to have completely disappeared alongside Orchid following Purple's takeover of the kingdom. He's soon revealed to have lost his powers to Purple and have been in hiding, spying on Fernando to figure him out, but is unwillingly forced to team up with Sunny to do so; not realising Purple managed to free himself from Fern's control. However, he leaves her to die when Amber comes to attack them under Fernando's orders.
After Purple kills Fern, Navy appears to hold him at gunpoint, threatening to kill him. Just as he's about to shoot, Sunny comes down to attack him. He manages to wrestle him off her, and Night Shade reveals himself to still be alive and try to help Navy; however, he's deemed no longer useful by that point, and proceeds to kill him. Just as he claims he even doubts if Purple is his biological son, Purple himself shows up to clear everything up; Navy and Night Shade were actually brothers, and Orchid cheated on him with Night Shade, causing the birth of Purple's long lost younger sister Amethyst.
An angered Navy tries to shoot Purple while the other heroes go battle Orchid. She manages to kill almost all the heroes, with the few survivors being Chosen, Dark, Second and Purple. As they're imprisoned, they remind themselves that Orchid was brainwashed by Navy into her acts. They try to free her from his control, and succeed in doing so when they find the crown from the fifth book. With no allies left, Navy jumps for some of the guns around his base to fight back, but Purple gets to them first. The two holding eachother at gunpoint, they shoot at the same time, causing the bullets to hit each other and cause a massive explosion.
Ultimately, all of the heroes survive the explosion and manage to return back home out of the Great Above, though Purple was send into a coma for two days. Only Amethyst remained inside, now ruling over the dimension as a kind ruler instead of a tyrant. Navy was seemingly killed once and for all, ending his threat for good.
Father & Son 9: A Reversed Victory[]
Navy is mentioned several times in passing.
Father & Son 10: In Betweens To A Winning Battle[]
As the new villain Coco imprisons the heroes in their prison, the heroes conversate about Purple and his family can't seem to stay dead. They realise that Navy might still return and Coco might be outright planning to resurrect him. Their prediction is proven true when we cut to Purple, who is stuck in a limbo-like state following his death at the end of the ninth book, encountering Navy in the limbo-like realm. It's soon revealed that, after his death at the end of Part 8, Navy was send to this realm where he could watch Purple's life through a portal, mad that his son dared to treat King as his father.
Coco does, in fact, resurrect Navy as the heroes predicted, and they have him lure the heroes to their spot. Navy watches alongside Coco as Purple is tortured in limbo, and when he breaks out and battles Coco, Navy watches and mocks his son.
Bizarrely, despite his role as the series' main villain, not once is Navy's final fate clarified, leaving it ambiguous on if he died or is still alive. It's not until the sequel series that Navy would be confirmed to be dead, presumably at Purple's hands, though it's not clarified.
Season 2 (Wound Together Like A Ribbon)[]
After Navy's death, it's revealed that shortly after leaving Orchid and Purple behind, Navy would go meet up with an old friend of his, Betty, whom he has secretly been cheating on Orchid with for a while. He would incriminate Orchid, claiming she's been abusive to both him and Purple, before sleeping with Betty and leaving the house while she's asleep. Betty would later get pregnant with her and Navy's illegitimate child, Byzantine.
Eight years later, Betty would return to harass Purple, trying to kidnap him and bring him to Navy's family, due to still mistakenly believing Orchid was abusing him. It's also revealed that Navy had lied to Purple that Amethyst was a miscarriage when he was a young boy so he wouldn't know about her existence.
Personality[]
Compared to his enigmatic personality in the original series, this Navy is presented as an unsympathetic, narcissistic abuser who only cares about achieving his goals of world domination and ignores other people's wishes, to the point of killing his own wife. He has a sadistic side, laughing when mentioning how Purple always cried whenever Navy hit him. He's additionally a delusional man who believed he was preparing Purple for the real world, blamed Purple for Navy almost destroying half of Stick City, and at one point outright called himself the hero of the story.
Despite his current cruelty, it's shown Navy wasn't always a monster: He used to be a kind and loving man before his marriage started falling apart and he got more violent with Purple. However, this is all gone today, with him just using Purple for his own goals while hypocritically still acting offended when Purple claims he doesn't love him. It's also revealed that he had a great interest in books and a creative mind; he had made the Great Above, which even Willow and Amethyst compliment for how it looks, and he kept a giant library of books, from dystopian novels to his personal family history.
