The story of Nazo the Hedgehog from Chakra-X's hit series, Nazo Unleashed.
Backstory[]
Nazo was created when the Chaos Emeralds became unstable due to frequent misuse for evil purposes, generating negative chaos energy. Once this instability reached its peak, he emerged, taking on a hedgehog form that draws inspiration from both Sonic and Shadow, since the both of them has the best manipulation to the Emeralds, as seen in Sonic Adventures 2. Nazo possesses the same knowledge as the Chaos Emeralds, including insights into Sonic's past actions, and he shares an ambiguous connection with "Chaos 0," given their ties to the Emeralds. Furthermore, he has an animosity towards the Master Emerald and is on a quest to locate the Chaos Emeralds to gain more power, ultimately aiming to annihilate the Master Emerald and bring destruction to the planet.
The Power of Nazo[]
Nazo's debut.
This was Nazo's first appearance before Nazo Unleashed, although this isn't canon in the main storyline of the series.
Throughout the events of Sonic's Adventures, the Chaos Emeralds have been used in many ways. However, their uses aren't always positive, as seen with Perfect Chaos, one of Dr. Eggman's creations, and the Biolizard. Whenever the Chaos Emeralds are influenced by negative energy, they leave behind a residue that can give rise to a sentient being known as "Nazo." Since then, with five of the seven Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald in hand, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles have journeyed into Nazo's domain, which is made out of pure negative energy, to ensure he doesn't gain any more power.
At the start, Team Sonic teleported to the Badlands, thanks to Sonic's use of a Chaos Emerald. Knuckles senses an unusual energy nearby, and Tails' watch indicates that someone is approaching the trio. While Sonic still holds an Emerald, Nazo swiftly snatches it away, and telling Sonic to "treat this with more care." Knuckles recognizes Nazo and attempts to strike him before he can finish his sentance, but Nazo effortlessly dodges the punch and delivers a knee to Knuckles' stomach, causing him to cough up blood and possibly lose consciousness. Nazo then tries to eliminate Sonic with a red energy blast, but Shadow arrives just in time to push Sonic out of harm's way.
This is the moment where Nazo encountered the Ultimate Lifeform, prompting him to ask Shadow how he had arrived. Shadow explained that he had teleported using a Chaos Emerald, but was surprised to discover that Nazo possessed one as well. Tails was shocked to see that Nazo was too fast for both Sonic and Shadow, and his radar couldn't pinpoint the source of Nazo's immense power. It also indicated that Nazo might have a super form. With no other options, Tails fired his arm cannon at Nazo, but Nazo easily overpowered him, knocking him unconscious with a red energy beam (though Tails seemed to vanish after the explosion, which might have been a mistake). Enraged by his friend's unfortunate fate, Sonic transformed into Super Sonic and prepared to confront Nazo.
Super Sonic and Nazo's faceoff.
In the beginning of the fight, Super Sonic lunged at Nazo, who attempted to evade one of his strikes. However, Super Sonic, moving at incredible speed, teleported right in front of Nazo and began to unleash a flurry of punches, until they dash forward. They continued to clash in mid-air, spinning and dashing at each other until Nazo managed to strangle Super Sonic and throw him aside. As Super Sonic stopped, Nazo unleashed a massive red energy blast, but Super Sonic shrank the blast and vaporized it effortlessly. Suddenly, Sonic reverted to his base form and began to fell from the sky, but not until Nazo delivered a punch that sent him crashing to the ground.

Before Nazo can deliver the final blow to Sonic, Shadow intervenes with Chaos Control, rescuing Sonic and transforming into his super form. Super Shadow harnesses the Chaos Energy from the clouds to strike down a downed Nazo. However, Nazo dodges and attempts to counterattack Super Shadow, who is busy defending himself. As Nazo searches for an opening, Super Shadow slams him into the lake. While floating above, Super Shadow notices Nazo rising, now furious and charging up. Nazo retaliates with a massive red energy blast, but Super Shadow catches it with his bare hands. Just as Nazo prepares to launch another attack, Sonic spindashes toward Nazo, transforming back into his super form, while Super Shadow hurls the energy blast away. Together, the super hedgehogs unleash a barrage of light-speed attacks, relentlessly assaulting Nazo until he tries to escape from their onslaught. As Nazo begins to tire, he witnesses the super hedgehogs channeling their light-speed energy into a gigantic blast. In response, Nazo attempts to unleash his own massive red energy blast, and as both blasts collide, it causes a tremendous explosion.
Super Nazo.
Super Sonic and Super Shadow were confused by the creature's sudden disappearance until they discovered him standing on the Master Emerald, preparing to transform. Nazo laughes maniacally as he transforms, becoming Super Nazo. In this new form, Super Nazo easily overpowered the super hedgehogs, knocking them out and reverting them to their base forms. However, the Master Emerald and the seven Chaos Emeralds connected with Sonic and Shadow, causing them to levitate and transform into their hyper forms, merging into Hyper Shadic. Enraged, Super Nazo unleashed a massive black energy blast at Hyper Shadic, but it was effortlessly kicked away into the sky. Hyper Shadic declared that positive energy is superior than the negative energy, making his victory inevitable. He then powered up and unleashed a Final Flash-like beam aimed at Super Nazo. In a fit of fear and rage, Super Nazo charged at Hyper Shadic and attempts to attack him, but it was too late; as Hyper Shadic kicked him from the sky. Hyper Shadic followed up with a powerful beam that ultimately ended Super Nazo's reign of terror.
The resulting blast causes the domain becoming unstable, prompting Hyper Shadic to teleport away with the injured Tails and Knuckles. In the aftermath, Sonic and Shadow barely remember the events that happened, so it is possible that Sonic becomes unaware of the near-fatal danger his friends faced.
Nazo Unleashed[]
Act 1 - Chaos Assault[]
In the beginning, Knuckles is seen explaining his life on Angel Island, where he diligently guards the Master Emerald from any threats. Just as he finishes his monologue, the sky darkens as clouds blocks the sun, and a cyan Chaos Emerald starts to shake, releasing a creature known as "Nazo." In a flash, Knuckles turns around to confront him, asking who he is, but Nazo scoffs and teleports away, taking the Master Emerald with him. Without the Master Emerald's power, Angel Island would fall and sink into the ocean, and since it was gone, Knuckles plummets into the water below.
At 11:37, in Downtown Metropolis, Nazo crashes through the window of a jewelry store, where he captures the first silver-colored Chaos Emerald. Shortly after, he unleashes a red energy blast, wreaking havoc on the city and reveling in the destruction. Once he leaves the smoldering ruins behind, he sets his sights on the badlands of South Island in search of more Chaos Emeralds. Meanwhile, Shadow listens to the news report about the creature and the chaos, and upon hearing Sonic's name, he can't help but wonder why it bothers him so much. Tails and Knuckles are on a mission to find Sonic, and when they locate him, Tails explains about the creature, such as stealing the Master Emerald and destorying Metropolis. With that, Team Sonic is now searching for the creature, preparing to confront him when they find him.
They soon arrive in the badlands, where Knuckles picks up on the location of the Chaos Emeralds. Tails discovers six Chaos Emeralds along with the Master Emerald. Just as Sonic celebrates their find, Knuckles senses an unusual energy. Suddenly, Nazo reappears behind the six Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald. This is the moment they confront him, and Knuckles recognizes the creature who stole the Master Emerald from Angel Island. Knuckles digs into the ground, causing Nazo to look down in confusion. Seizing the opportunity, Knuckles delivers a powerful uppercut to Nazo. However, Nazo quickly regenerates from the blow and tilts his head down. Shocked, Knuckles attempts his signature move, the "Maximum Heat Knuckles Attack." As he lunges at Nazo, the creature effortlessly punches Knuckles in the face, sending him crashing into a boulder, leaving Sonic in shock.
Sonic was next, who faced a red energy blast from Nazo. Sonic managed to kick the energy away, but Nazo dodged it with ease. Nazo unleashed a series of blasts at Sonic, who skillfully evaded each one while Tails looked on. Sonic then jumped onto Nazo's head, but in a fit of anger, Nazo used Chaos Control to teleport. Sonic was taken aback, realizing that Nazo could naturally use Chaos Control since he is made out of pure negative energy. Nazo then teleported above and kicked Sonic down to the ground. Attempting to finish Sonic off, Nazo fired a red energy blast at the ground. Just as Tails shouted for him to stop, someone teleported in with Sonic before the blast could reach him. Nazo was left in shock as it was revealed that Shadow had saved Sonic from the impending explosion.
Shadow then steps up to confront Nazo, who recognizes him from the news. Nazo asks who he is, and Shadow confidently replies that he is the "Ultimate Lifeform," holding a seventh green Chaos Emerald in his hand. With the energy from the Chaos Emerald, Shadow teleports right in front of Nazo. As they face off, Nazo attempts to punch Shadow but ends up teleporting instead. Shadow leaps into action, and Nazo retaliates with a red energy blast. Shadow counters with a Chaos Spear, resulting in a massive explosion. In a swift move, Shadow teleports behind Nazo, aiming a gun at his head, ready to fire. Tails watches in awe, while Sonic facepalms in frustration. However, Nazo glances at Shadow and delivers a powerful punch, sending him crashing into a boulder, just like he did to Knuckles. This impact sends the seventh Chaos Emerald flying, joining the six others and bringing the total to seven.
With all seven Chaos Emeralds now gathered, Nazo prepares to eliminate Sonic. However, Tails quickly fires an energy ball from his cannon at Nazo's back. Annoyed, Nazo regenerates from the attack and swiftly teleports to Tails, placing his hand on Tails' head. Sonic desperately tries to intervene and save Tails, but it's too late; Nazo unleashes a blast that seemingly kills Tails. Overcome with grief, Sonic bends over in sorrow for his fallen friend. A yellow aura begins to radiate from Sonic as he imagines his friends—Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow. Nazo coldly remarks that Sonic has wasted his time. Suddenly, Sonic's fur turns from blue to black as the Chaos Emeralds accumulate negative energy. Nazo is confused by this transformation, witnessing Sonic transforms into Dark Sonic. Nazo carelessly fires a red energy blast at Dark Sonic, but Dark Sonic effortlessly deflects it. Stunned, Nazo powers up and charges at Dark Sonic, only to have his hand grabbed. Dark Sonic channels his energy and delivers a powerful punch to Nazo's face, sending him flying away.
Just as Dark Sonic is about to take further action, he remembers Tails calling out his name. This moment brings Sonic back to his base form, as he realizes that harnessing negative energy only leads to pain and suffering. Instead, he taps into the positive energy of the Chaos Emeralds, which gather around him as he begins to transform. Shadow awakens and witnesses this incredible change, as Sonic's eyes shift from green to red, becoming Super Sonic.
Act 2 - Vengeful Duet[]
Meanwhile, Nazo gets up and grew increasingly irritated. He teleported back to his original location, where he spotted Sonic in his super form. In his confidence, Nazo questioned whether Sonic believed his super form could defeat him, calling him naive. In response, Super Sonic charged at Nazo in a quick speed, delivering a powerful headbutt that sent him flying. He continued to unleash a flurry of attacks, kicking Nazo high into the air. Super Sonic then spindashed behind some rocks, kick Nazo forward before executing a ground spindash that landed him safely. Super Sonic attempted to use his "Super Sonic Wind" technique to strike Nazo, but Nazo narrowly dodged, causing the attack to slice through a boulder instead. In retaliation, Nazo raised both hands and unleashed "Chaos Torrent" against Sonic, who countered with the same technique. Their techniques collided, resulting in a massive explosion. Nazo then charged at Super Sonic, and they engaged in a fierce clash (similar to that of the battle between Super Sonic and Super Shadow scene from Sonic X). Nazo managed to kick Super Sonic away, and both of them powered up, growing stronger. They charged at each other, colliding with headbutts before clashing once more. Ultimately, Nazo blocked Super Sonic's kick and retaliated with a punch to Sonic's stomach, causing him to cough up blood. Nazo then slammed him into the ground, leading Sonic to revert back to his base form once again.
As Nazo stands over the weakened Sonic, Shadow suddenly teleports behind him to launch an attack. However, Nazo quickly noticed him and strikes Shadow, sending him crashing to the ground. Knowing that he finally won, Nazo smiled, but his victory is only short-lived. Positive energy begins to radiate from Shadow, who starts to laugh. The sky shifts from blue to red, and yellow lightning strikes the ground as Shadow rises, enveloped in a red aura that quickly transforms into Super Shadow. Nazo remains unfazed by this transformation, but Super Shadow warns him that he has no idea what he’s up against. In an instant, Super Shadow teleports and charges at Nazo, unleashing a flurry of punches slamming him downwards. He teleports again, repeating the assault and kicking Nazo away. As Nazo stopped, Super Shadow attempts another attack, but Nazo dodges and seizes his arms. With a swift motion, Nazo spins and hurls Super Shadow into a nearby boulder. Super Shadow opens his eyes, unfazed, and claims he wasn’t even trying. He powers up and unleashes multiple Chaos Spears, but Nazo skillfully dodges one of them as he pursues Super Shadow.
Meanwhile, Sonic had collected 200 rings and noticed the intense battle between Super Shadow and Nazo, feeling quite impressed. The two fighters clashed fiercely, with Nazo delivering a kick that sent Super Shadow soaring from the ground, landing safely. Nazo then raised his hand, releasing a massive red energy blast aimed at Super Shadow, who managed to teleport away just in time. As Nazo observed the explosion, Super Shadow quickly reappeared behind him and slammed him into the ground. Super Shadow powered up further, launching a series of energy blasts while Sonic watched in awe. He ended his assault with a powerful Chaos Spear, resulting in a tremendous explosion. As the dust settled, Nazo emerged from the debris, heavily injured but somehow managed to regenerate, much to Super Shadow's frustration.
Sonic transformed into his super form again and approached Super Shadow. Seeing Nazo survive the onslaught sent Super Shadow into a rage, but Super Sonic managed to calm him down and handed him 40 rings. They both watched as Nazo floated, with Super Shadow doubting their chances against him. Super Sonic then proposed a strategy involving light-speed attacks, which Super Shadow eagerly agreed to. The two super hedgehogs began to spin, gathering light energy, leaving Nazo momentarily confused. Once they completed their transformation, they became faster and stronger, with Super Sonic radiating a blue aura and Super Shadow glowing yellow. They dashed around, leaving Nazo in shock as he struggled to keep up. They unleashed a rapid series of strikes, culminating in a powerful double kick that sent Nazo crashing into a massive boulder.
Meanwhile, Knuckles regains consciousness and discovers Tails lying on the ground, severely injured from Nazo's blast. Knuckles uses his healing abilities to mend Tails' wounds. When Tails wakes up and sees Knuckles, he points out Super Sonic's impressive actions, and Knuckles turns to watch, clearly impressed. Back in the battle, Super Sonic lands a devastating punch on Nazo, sending him flying while he coughs up blood (despite Nazo being made out of negative energy, which makes this impossible) and is then hit by Shadow's energy blast. Super Shadow called out to Super Sonic, who flies up to the edge of Earth's atmosphere before spindashing back down. Nazo, wiping blood from his mouth, attempted to retaliate with his signature attack, but Super Shadow gave him a thumbs up. Just then, Super Sonic delivered a powerful kick to Nazo's head, slamming him into the ground and triggering a massive explosion that seemed to eliminate him. The super hedgehogs struck their victory poses, earning an "A" rank, just like most of the Sonic games. They teleported and look down at the debris where Nazo had been, only to realize he was no longer there.
As the hedgehogs returned to their normal forms, Tails called out for Sonic and was relieved to see his friends safe. Sonic felt joy at their survival, and Team Sonic celebrated together, with Shadow even smiling. While Sonic gave a thumbs up, he suddenly noticed something unusual with his ear. It is revealed that Nazo had survived the attack and swiftly took the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald, causing Angel Island to rise into the sky again, indicating that Nazo had to put the Master Emerald back in it's place. Team Sonic had watched this scene, and Tails wondered what their next move would be. Shadow replied that they had to pursue Nazo no matter what, and Team Sonic was determined to keep fighting as long as there was hope. With that, Shadow teleported using the Chaos Emeralds, along with Team Sonic, ready to face Nazo once more.
Act 3 - Island Finale[]
At 18:34, The Team Sonic and Shadow managed to teleported in Angel Island. As they search something, Knuckles calls out Sonic and they saw Nazo standing in the Master Emerald along with the Chaos Emerald on the altar area. Nazo explains that they are too late as he has all the emeralds and the Master Emerald in the Angel Island, in order to gain more power to destroy the planet and even called himself that he is "pure chaos." He also revealed on how he was created due to the users has drawn on negativity of the Chaos Emeralds, until it was too much for the emeralds to suppress. For that, he would go the strength of a god with the power of Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald, and mentions that Perfect Chaos is nothing compare to him. Before his transformation, he informs Sonic and Shadow that everyone and everything they know are coming to an the end. The Chaos Emeralds became connected as white electricity merge, and purple aura begins to heavily emit in large areas. People have noticed the impact, with Amy, Cream, and Cheese are watching this scene far away. During this transformation, Nazo laughes manically as his quills become elongated, and as the aura fades away, his transformation was complete. He called himself Perfect Nazo.
