Nightmare Foxy, also known as Infernal Foxy or Grim Foxy, is a minor antagonist in Five Nights at Freddy's fanfiction Mike's New Ghostly Family, by Archcommander-Tenebros.
He is a demon who is a part of the Nightmares, a clan ruled by Nightmare, all members of whom take forms of monstrous animatronics from Freddy Fazbear's franchise as a testament to the corruption of innocense that is associated with the franchise. He makes up ranks of Lesser Nightmares with Nightmare Freddy, Nightmare Bonnie and Nightmare Chica.
Appearance[]
Nightmare Foxy takes form of a monstrous version of Foxy animatronic. He's red animatronic fox wearing brown pants that has glowing orange eyes. His maw is full of razor-sharp teeth and his hand and feet end with sharp claws. His right hand is replaced with a hook. As Infernal Foxy, he has orange fur, wears an eyepatch, has spikes protruding from his shoulders, his eyesockets are empty and glow with infernal light, his hook is replaced with a sickle, and he has infernal flame burning inside his body.
His true demonic form was not described in detail, so it's impossible to deduce its appearance. It was stated to be a hideous, monstrous abomination that would drive a weak mind insane and strike fear even into the heart of a seasoned average demon lord.
Personality[]
Nightmare Foxy, similarly to other demons, is cruel, sadistic, vicious and malevolent. He enjoys torturing damned souls, relishes in indulging himself into acts of wickedness and enjoys seeing others suffer. Compared to other Nightmares, Nightmare Foxy is not a thinker, not caring about planning or organizing attacks, instead ruthlessly attacking everything on sight. He was also stated to be impatient by Nightmare Freddy, hating waiting for too long. However, despite his relatively lower intelligence, Nightmare Foxy is still capable of having deep conversations with others, as shown by the fact that he was able make a deep philosophical discussion with Mike over the existence of benevolent God and chaotic, disorderly nature of Hell.
Together with Nightmare Freddy, Nightmare Foxy enjoys gleefully mocking and ridiculing the Schmidt children over their failings, rationalizing their behavior as typical for demons (though he refused to mock Liz when she lost to Plushbabies, understanding the extreme unfairness of their levels, and even gave her a tip on how to cheat through the level).
History[]
Nightmare Foxy and his fellow Nightmares were ruling over the lowest circles of Hell for thousands of years, their rule uncontested even with the seven making their numbers and their names feared all over Hell. When Evan Afton, filled with thirst for vengeance against Michael, wished to make him suffer, Old Man Consequences, the guardian of the afterlife antechamber, granted his wish in the most unwanted way possible by sending the Nightmares into teenager's dreams, trapping him inside unless he survives until 6 AM. For this torture, Nightmare Foxy and his fellow Nightmares took form of nightmarish versions of Fazbear's franchise animatronics, which they kept afterwards as a testament to the corruption of innocense associated with the franchise.
Throughout these cursed dreams, Nightmare Foxy and the others were terrorizing Michael, tormenting him by reminding the teen of his murder of Evan and killing him in brutal fashions all over the nights. After 100 deaths, Michael heard Evan's voice telling him to fight back and started retaliating against the Nightmares. During the trials, Nightmare Foxy would rush into the closet, forcing Michael to keep him at bay with the flashlight. He and the other Lesser Nightmares would disappear at fifth and seventh nights, with Nightmare Fredbear and Nightmare himself taking their places respectively, though they would return at sixth and eighth nights, more aggressive than ever before, before the two respective Greater Nightmares would replace them at 4 AM.
Once William Afton perished, his soul ended up in the Nightmares' possession, and when he lost his wager against Nightmare, failing to break apart Mike Schmidt and his new ghostly family of Afton's victims, the torture only became even more intense, which started with them putting Afton into a torture device that reenacted his death inside the Spring Bonnie suit, a suggestion provided by Mike, but much more painful than the original. Though Nightmare Foxy and the other Nightmares did not interact with the Schmidts for a very long time, instead tending to their own businesses or screwing with the Schmidts by adding strokes of bad luck to their games.
One day, Vucarik made a deal with William Afton and invaded the Nightmares' realm. After distracting them with diversion attack, Vucarik broke into their palace, grievously injured the younger Nightmares, stole their essences and gave them to William Afton before sending him to the mortal world. Outraged by his attack, Nightmare Foxy and his fellow Nightmares shedded their animatronic forms and revealed their true demonic forms before joining Lucifer's loyalists and status-quo supporters against Vucarik's forces, turning the tide of battle into their favor. Soon, Nightmare himself joined the battle, destroying Vucarik's armies and defeating the would-be usurper before hurling his mutilated body to other demons to let them torture him themselves. As Nightmare, Nightmarionne and Nightmare Fredbear reverted back to their animatronic forms and went to the mortal world to assist Schmidt in defeating the demonically-empowered Afton, Nightmare Foxy remained in Hell, discussing methods to torture Vucarik with other demons.
Once Afton was brought back to Hell, the Nightmares started discussing the murderer's tortures. However, before they started their discussion, Infernal Bonnie asked Nightmare why he didn't try to corrupt Mike Schmidt if the man possessed such strong darkness, with Infernal Foxy agreeing with him, to which Nightmare answered that Mike has too many moral anchors to prevent the corruption and the Heaven is monitoring Schmidt's family closely. Infernal Bonnie and Infernal Foxy were displeased with the answer, but Nightmare responded that he has different plan in mind that, as he stated, would achieve a desirable result very similar to the plan of corrupting Schmidt, the one that won't invoke the Heaven's wrath, satisfying the demons.
Afterwards, when they started discussing Afton's tortures, Nightmare proposed to force him to defend himself against all animatronics ever created by Freddy Fazbear or Circus Baby's franchises, also making him the laughingstock of all Hell to crush his insufferable arrogance. Nightmare ordered his fellow Nightmares to begin their research on animatronics while he'll design the layout of Afton's new prison. Infernal Foxy was fascinated by that idea despite generally disliking menial labor and began to do his work.
When the Nightmares learned of Glitchtrap's existence from Mike, Nightmare Foxy was displeased with finding out that Afton managed to cheat death again. When Shadow Bonnie appeared to inform Nightmare that Old Man Consequences demands his audience, Nightmare Foxy wanted to attack the shadow, only for Nightmare to stop him and depart to see his master. Eventually, when the Nightmares learned how to perform the ritual that would destroy every single Glitchtrap within the game's copy, Nightmare Foxy assisted Nightmare in performing the ritual, destroying all but one Glitchtrap, who managed to escape from the confines of his copy. Afterwards, Nightmare Foxy was dismissed with others while Nightmare Bonnie was tasked with researching an instance of Glitchtrap that was used for their ritual.
Once Nightmare managed to gain complete autonomy over the development of Fazbear Entertainment's VR game, he implemented multiple failsafes to ensure that Glitchtrap would never be able to return, including an addition of Nightmare animatronics, imbued with the Nightmares' demonic essences that would allow them to possess their in-game counterparts and communicate with the Schmidts. Nightmare Foxy, in particular, was frequently greeting the Schmidt children in the Game Over room in his Infernal/Grim Foxy form, mocking them over their failures together with Dreadbear. However, he didn't mock Liz when she lost to Plushbabies, understanding the unfairness of these levels, and even provided her with a tip on how to cheat through the level. He also got into an argument with Dreadbear when Cassidy asked both about why Nightmare Foxy turns into a plushie while Dreadbear doesn't use his scarier Nightmare Freddy form, remembering their embarrassing punishments for losing a game of Yu-Gi-Oh!.
When Gabe completed the Night 3 of "Danger! Keep Out!" level and got jumpscared by Plushtrap, Dreadbear informed him that he must bring Mike Schmidt to the "Corn Maze" level, explaining that Grim Foxy is already waiting for him. Once Gabe passed the game to Mike, with him booting up the "Corn Maze", Grim Foxy greeted the man, explaining that Nightmare ordered him to help Mike uncover the secret. As they explored the maze, looking for the keys to unlock the secret, Grim Foxy explained the nature of his level and decided to ask Mike a question about why does he believe in all-loving benevolent God when so many tragedies happened to him and so many evil happened in the world that would've made him abandon his faith.
Though Schmidt was caught off-guard by that question, he still managed to rationalize God's actions by claiming that, to ensure the existence of free will and let good have any meaning, evil, death and suffering must exist to act as counterbalance to that so that good acts might make a sufficient difference in the world. Though he was partly satisfied with an answer, Grim Foxy countered that God could've prevented many acts of evil, yet He didn't, to which Mike responded that He chose to allow humanity to do whatever they want, whether it'd be evil and good, so that in the end good people could've proven that they deserve the eternal peace in Heaven, also adding that God was willing to forgive the ghost children despite their murders of innocent nightguards and willing to let them atone for their sins, ultimately proving that God is good. Satisfied with the answer, Grim Foxy decided to continue looking for the keys.
When Mike and Grim Foxy prepared to find the final key, Schmidt decided to ask the demon animatronic a personal question as well, about whether the demons are actually united as the Bible usually says or are they completely dysfunctional and fight each other all the time. Grim Foxy answered that, for the most part, conflicts in Hell are universal, as evil by its nature is selfish, and demons are defined by evil, thus ensuring that none of them would get along, with any alliances they make being temporary and fragile at best. However, he added that few things can force demons to work together, such as Lucifer giving them direct commands under threat of cruel punishment or mutual desire to make a human's life miserable.
Eventually, when they found all the keys, they learned that they must find the final key that would unlock the secret, the one that would appear anywhere in the past key locations. Realizing that neither of them have any idea where to find it, they had to search for entire level, with Mike eventually finding the key in one of the farthest alcoves of the maze. Once the secret was unlocked, Grim Foxy guided Mike to where the cellar was unlocked. Before Mike went in, Grim Foxy added one last addendum to his explanation about what else can unite the normally-disorderly demons: even they must serve God and obey His direct commands, no matter how much they may hate or curse His name, and that includes Lucifer himself, also telling Schmidt to never share this information with anyone. Afterwards, they parted ways, with Mike entering the cellar and finding the secret, which was a mask made by Glitchtrap's victim, with Dreadbear revealing the second part of secret that helped the Schmidts find out the victim's voice. When they discovered the secret, Nightmare Foxy and the other Nightmares withdrew their presences from Schmidts' copy of the game.
Much later, when Nightmare learned of Fazbear Entertainment's Special Delivery project and the fact that Mike Schmidt had his arm and leg broken by their Toy Bonnie animatronic, he decided to take matters into his own hands, invading the minds of executives. Nightmare Freddy, along with the other Lesser Nightmares, took part in torturing them before Nightmare moved on to finish the job and then present his ultimatum.
